Stumbled on this youtube video completely by accident. It's got nothing to do with climbing, but I think most climbers will appreciate it...

Wow! Like, way fecking wow! That is most impressive. Why doesn't this guy have his his own TV show? It would be way more exciting than watching climbing.

Good lessons about the evolution of archery. Will climbing gradually go indoors and a climber someday rediscover that it can be used to climb mountains?

But shooting and at splitting an incoming arrow???!!! What kind of tip did the incoming arrow have??

Lars is amazing and I like the way the video is done.

This is an incredible video, David! I've done a fair amount of archery through the years, and I was always stoked to get a tight cluster from a decent distance.

Man...I gotta set my sights higher...

Compared to what he's basing his approach on, Agincourt was new school.

The thing that I think about is how we "modern" people become very arrogant about our abilities compared to what we think the "ancient" people were capable of.

Plenty of examples ; the Anasazi hand&foot trails, the Easter Island statues, the pyramids, the rock structures built by the Inca, south seas navigation, spear chucking with an atlatl, et'c.....

And even more irritating is when ancient technologies are ascribed to aliens. Sigh. Why can't we accept that humans have always had ingenuity?

Yeah, but could they text? Um...I don't think so!

Well folks, it's official. We've finally found the the secret weapon we've been missing in the fight against ISIS/AQ. Drop this guy out of an airplane and he'll have things taken care of in no time.

I used to do a lot of archery and I think the guy who wrote that article ^^^ didn't realize the video was meant to be impressive AND FUNNY!

Next he's going to critique the guy's roller blading technique. That video was amazing! Even if it took him a million tries for each shot it's still a million less that it would take virtually every other human on earth.

We used to hunt squirrels for practice. I'd love to go shoot squirrels with Lars, especially from the back of a motorcycle.

That's pretty much my view. When I first watched it I assumed that they probably had to do a lot of takes to get the final shots. But that's no knock on the guy's skill and effort. Sort of like saying that the recent Dawn Wall climb wasn't valid because they had to take a bunch of falls before finally getting the hard moves.

Big deal. The guy is amazing, the little film is funny, and the fact that he learned a lot of this from archers who have been dead for 5,000 years is a lesson for everybody.

I like the way Lars freezes after his shots, chest out, draw hand held high and behind his shoulder, exposing the maximum expanse of the most vulnerable flesh. Presumably, he learned this from ancient peoples, too.

That aside, I recently read a piece on the rates of technology acceptance in which the adoption of crossbows displaced longbows was used as an example. Cross bows were less accurate, less powerful, and slower, but anyone could shoot them. They were adopted because learning to use a longbow took too long and was too difficult to master.

Modern modern people are not advanced enough to understand the superiority of the ancient masters.

No I can't explain this. ;)

Great talent though.

This guy is awesome. He can defend himself and get food in the Apocalpse. Lol. People will be trying to reload bullets to use guns. Zombies? He's got that handled too. No problem. Lol

They need to hire this guy for the movies. No CGI needed. Just let the cameras roll.
