I'm not sure I understand this. The title of your post implies that until now there wasn't a pub in Bishop. But... but... But climbers live there. Climbers flock there.

How can this be? Why would climbers live in, or travel to, a place that didn't have a pub?

This is just wrong.

Spent a bit of time in Bishop over the years - what's wrong with Rusty's ? Has it closed?

Hey Eric,
Just parked the moving van in Bishop last night and going to take it easy for the day before I unpack. Colleen's been to the pub and says it's great. My friend is driving my truck up tonight and we could meet there for a beer..........

I haven't sobered up enough to drive up there.
Maybe it's not a gud thing that I'm allowed to

Wait, did I just write a limerick?

QITLL, the vats are now currently working, Joe's first brew's should be ready soon. Ask him and he will surely explain how the Cal ABC makes any new brewpub open for business and go through rigorous inspection etc before they brew their first beers. I think he has three brews in the vats? Ask him. Joe has dome a fine job, I like the fact he has no TV's. If you need to watch sports go to McMurry's or Rusty's. Great food at the Rambler!!

Also some folks have expressed their negative view of the Mammoth brews Joe has while his first brew's are in process. Yes, they've produced some lousy beer in the past but are now really getting much better. Not my favorite beer as well. Last fall they brewed a seasonal Elderberry sour that was excellent.. with local Elderberry's. Go to the old Whisky Creek location in Mammoth, now Mammoth Brewing, and sample a few in their tasting room, it might surprise you. The food is excellent too.

I was there for what I guess was a private event back in November. Filled to capacity with dirtbags across the economic spectrum. Guess that wasn't enough to gnarl it up. I'm sure it will get there in time. :-)

The place has a nice vibe. I'll be back. It's nice to have another option in Bishop!

Meaty.... you cant put Elderberry's or any type of fruit in a beer, or Wheat or Rice and call it Beer.

Meaty... not calling you a lair.... not my style.

When Bud is sold in Germany.... its marked "malt beverage" again by LAW.

to be beer one must make it out of

Water
Barley
Hops
Yeast

Only.

good to know the Bishop place now has their beer....Im getting my butt in there ASAP.... this Saturday.

Making beer is a lot like cooking. Just because you have a recipe thats good dosent mean that the beer turns out good... That is where the ART of the brewmaster come into play.

If the Mammoth Brewery is now making good beer, I bet that they figured out something: like how to get the yeast working in a low O2/ low pressure environment.

I love to make Beer, but that is something I had to quit doing if I was going to keep climbing.

cheers

guyman.....when you said law I thought you meant legality not the laws of brewing.

Too many rice "beers" out there. Bud is sold as beer here in the USA along with so many others that have corn or rice. Semantics here in our country.

Mammoth brewing is making much better beer, some good, some not so good.
Their Elderberry sour was excellent.

Meaty... The LAW is the Reinheitsgebot, the first law of the land in Germany and one of the oldest laws still on the books.... passed in 1516.

If you go to Bishop Brewery this Saturday nite... Im the older, extremely fit looking, grey haired gentlemen.

Ill buy you one and we can carry on this discussion.
