I posted the below on Mountain Project earlier. Maybe as I live and mostly climb in Colorado, that has more day-to-day climbing relevance for me, and most of my ST posts have been, for better or worse, to what some call politard threads (I may say "current events").
Coincidentally, I think I'd largely wound up any ST feuds I may have had before the accident and mostly suppressed the habit of nasty personal exchanges. I found they weren't making me a happier and better person. Perhaps others have different results.

Anyway, I've spent more hours than I should have over the years reading whatever y'all write that catches my eye. At least now it can't be said that I haven't contributed any climbing related content.

The short version is here:

I fell leading a pitch above Friday's Folly (3rd Flatiron outside of Boulder, CO) on 12/13/14. I may or may not have been on a 2nd pitch of that route.
I had attempted to hang on a cam, it pulled out of a chockstone or other loose rock, I fell and landed hard (the next piece down held), and the chockstone hit me.
My partner Pat got me to the ground, RMRG got me to an ambulance about 3-4 hours later, then to Boulder Community Health, where I am now. I go home tomorrow.
Aside from being knocked out and the usual cuts and bruises, I broke my back and severely damaged my upper left arm (torn biceps tendon, labrum, and rotator cuff). I'm recovering and in pretty good shape. Already had back surgery, and have an ortho appointment for the shoulder in early Jan.
Heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped in the rescue.

A long version is here:

Ouch. Good to see you survived with the help from the rescue team,
and that your chances for a pretty full recovery are very good.
It may be a long road with a few setbacks, but it could definitely have turned out worse, too.

Best of luck, let it heal and do your physio. You'll be fine. Politiking in no time flat.

put little bells throughout your travels.
hanging them in unlikely posts;
glide about seeking your original, pre-injury stride.
as you canter and careen thru,
the bells will report with
faint song,
your sway.

continue to correct and adjust,
building proper tunes for the moment.

underfoot, pretend that you
are crossing a stream.

the fluid disregards gravity and order
and is flowing all directions at once.

the stones that you hop to and from
are not of geologic design;
instead they are the rooting faces
of handssome pasts.

like now, you are standing on Warhol.
now leap.
to keroac.
don't worry, he'll prose right around your sole.

jump. morrison.
bound to fowler.

all these faces take no offense
in lending themselves to receiving
a new and adaptive journey: yours.

lou reed, juan de fuca, jopplin; so many more looking.

if i were, i'd lean down and kiss my footing once every while.
do it, too.

hike up and look at your reflection
in the stream below you.

see. your right next to heroes
and you are one yourself.

Hey man. Glad you're alive and starting to mend. Give it time. Do your PT like its a job. No skimping. I'm one year out from a minor knee surgery and still dealing with pain but I just got back from physical therapy this morning and it's worth every minute. It takes time to get strong and get healthy. You got to stay on it if you want to get back into the hills.

And by the way, one cure for the political thread blues is to write a trip report! So get on it! We want pictures!

Heal quickly. Heal fully.

Best wished for a speedy recovery. I liked your perspective on the entire incident - and even passed it along to members of my team. We all try to be aware of the experience of the guy in the basket. I hope that the team which carried you out sees the report - you often don't hear about what happened to your subject.

Time to totally soak up the holiday activities. The world will be waiting for you when you have healed up.

Man, scary, but could have been so much worse.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up and talk about your thought process leading up the event. I think we can all benefit reading it. So many bad events this year from loose blocks and flakes.

Best wishes for speedy and complete recovery.

I was discharged today and am resting at home.
I won't go through thanking each of you individually, as I'd get into Bad Oscar Speech mode pronto.
But let me say to you collectively--BIG THANKS.
I went through every post carefully. (And in my sedated state, Norwegian's proved challenging. Or perhaps the narcotics helped.)

I'm not too new agey, but I felt the energy from your posts!

it smashes me that my subjects
must work to receive my intent.

i set my fingers down on the keyboard
with a heart full of warmth to share,
and i attempt to walk them methodically
across the keys;

but they assume anti-poise
and begin to dance;
for i think they hear the songs in
my head and they just can't stand still.

i glance down at them
and watch, with a mixture of delight and horror
as i realize that i'm barely in control
of them.

here, blah,
let me attempt to clearly re-state my muddled message
of yesterday:

...cant do it.

how about: we all love you because you're real
and you choose to go out above gear and
shite happens to us all;
and your encounter with it became a story.

and we like those around here.
