New Years Resolutions aside, do you have a tick list for 2015?

I used to keep a fairly short tick list for the upcoming year. The few routes I really wanted to do.

A few years ago I tweaked my shoulder bad. I thought I'd take off 6 months, and presto--all would be good and I'd be back in the game.
Six months turned into 12, which then turned into years. My shoulder never did recover, but now it's feeling good enough.

Last year my tick list consisted of one item: Lead .10d in the Valley again. Didn't happen.
But, what they heck, that list is as good now as it was last year. I suppose the name of
that .10d can be any one of the amazing cracks that I love:

    Finger Lickin'
    Ten Years After
    Crammin'

What the heck, why go for the easier ones?

How about you, got a list worth mentioning??

Let's hope this devolves into solid spray.

-Positive Vibrations - keep putting it off....
-Coarse 'n Buggy - one of those routes I keep making excuses not to do
-High Plains Drifter - fell off last move last season, am fat this season. C'est la vie.

Big to little. Likely I'll do none of them. See you next year...

I'm start in' a three year sabbatical this spring and plan on catching up on playing in general and climbing in particular. Goals 1) a couple of weeks in the Valley in the Spring, 2) climbing in the Cascades this Summer, 3) a couple of weeks in the Valley this Fall

Haven't done that in 35 years. Woohoo!

Get out and start climbing and hiking again.
Anything more than that will be a bonus at this point, though I hope to be ok to climb in the Gunks by spring, and hopefully some easy ice climbs come mid-January/February.

I also would like to lead some similar 10d - ish routes.
I have tried 10 years after & hung on it.
So many injuries for years now, but feeling healthy for now.
Maybe I will finally lead Oz

Well, I'm currently at 51 different El Cap routes. I turned 55 in September.

If I can get in four new/different El Cap routes this year, I can 'climb my age'.

Oh, geez - might need an extension on my birthday til after the fall season finishes!

Hey - my husband and I are going to Kili in late August, then a photo safari in South Africa. It is a late 25th anniversary present.

I still want to finish Infinite Bliss, but I need a super strong partner to do it with. I know how the route goes now and have experience rapping it in the dark.

Somehow the list keeps getting longer, especially when it takes more than one whack to get a route done.

Didn't get up Cathedral Peak or Snake Dike this year. So that's a tick list for the upcoming year.

We'll be spending a lot more time in Moab so more things there. (Unfortunately the Creek is pretty much out for me because of a foot problem that just won't work in sustained cracks.)

More multi pitch.

I'm actually focused more on MTB lately than climbing.

Susan, my daughters (who are in their late twenties) want me to take them up Snake Dike. You'd be welcome to join us.

Of course, I need to get back into decent cardio shape by summer, but they're already on me.

I want to renew my acquaintance with aid climbing enough to do a few Valley obscurities that remain off the beaten path, paticularly the Firefall Face. We shall see. . .

Modest plans. Hardest thing might be leading all the 5.10's at the crag in my yard in one day.

1. Cletus 5.10a
2. Calvin & Hobbes 5.10b
3. Squirt Theory 5.10d
4. Shaking Hands With The Governor 5.10b
5. Dazed & Confused 5.10c
6. Hercules 5.10b
7. Dead Low Tide 5.10b
8. Gloater 5.10d
9. Never Give Up 5.10c
10. Never Surrender 5.10b
11. Pete & Ted's Excellent Adventure (short) 5.10a
12. Karma Mechanic 5.10a
13. Critter Corner (full) 5.10b

In terms of away from home, that would be a strong 4 day trip to Red Rocks in May, introduce some buddies to the joys of Darrington in Washington over the summer, possibly a new route in the Cascades or anything at all in the Sawtooths, and a fall trip to City of Rocks.

It could all be simply boiled down to "work a little less, climb a little more"

I'd like to climb Mt Whitney finally, it's been on my list since I first started climbing and I've just never gotten around to it in all these years. Also something on Russell while we're out there, and maybe Keeler Needle too if we're feeling strong.

Planning on spending several weeks in Colorado this summer. Hope to do something on the Diamond and check out many other classics areas I've never been to - Gunnison, Eldo, S Platte, ect.

And finally I'd like to do at least two bigwalls. Zion would be awesome, but I don't think I'll make it out there next year, so they'll probably have to be in Yosemite. Maybe Watkins and Zodiac...

If I get all that done it'd be an excellent year.

Pretty modest really:

Get out to Josh a couple of times this season.

Take my 11 yr. old up her first multipitch: the Tree Route at Dome Rock.

Hit the Needles or do the Thunderbolt-Sill traverse with Cancer Boy.

Go back to the Purple Stones for the first time in 25 years.

If I do those, that'll be a very good year.

TICK LIST? Us 65+ guys don't need no stinkin "tick-list!"

I do have a few outdoor projects I'm looking forward to in the coming year.

First on my mind is "herding ST climber-cats" to another fun meeting at City of Rocks in late June.

I do need to get high and find some more desirable mineral specimens in Idaho's high mountains.

A multi-day Middle-Fork Salmon trip?

Perhaps a jaunt into my beloved Sawtooth Mtns?

and perhaps a little rock-climbing, some fishing, world adventure travel, island time, and then --------sigh------weed-pulling on our "ranchette."

Rock climb at joshua tree..(good one, huh..).
Visit some crags in So. Calif. that I haven't been to ....
Make a trip to sedona
Climb at shuteye again this summer
Take a trip or two to red rocks
I'm good with just about anything;...I've climbed my ass off for 42 years;...I'm turning 60 this year, and I'm still alive....those are all good things;..very good things.....
I love to rock climb, I need the exercise, and I sort of got in this habit of climbing a couple days a week;...so I guess I just keep rolling with it. It's more about exploring, hanging with my homies, and having fun outside in cool places.......
Number one priority is my wife and children;...climbing is something I do when I am not doing family stuff.
Everyday I get up in a pretty damn good mood, ready for fun, happy to be alive, and very thankful for all my wonderful blessings......
Life is sweet;...2015 should be the best year ever;.(it's been mega-awesome every year of my life so far.......keep the ball rolling!)....
I am way fortunate, and I know it....

Gordo, you rock! I hope I can finally tie in with you sometime later this winter down JT-way.

My goal for the last of 2014 is this:

The humble way (I hope) up some big old butte way out there in the empty sandy dry places. Pretty far out there, pretty massive summit plateau, and I am most curious to see if there is sign of prior ascent.

Goal #1: Enjoy all of the below while spending enough time with wife and 5 month old future rope gun of a daughter:

1. Climb my age in a day on some selected routes while I still have my youth to help me (approx. 1800 ft of constant mid.10-mid.11 sporto nonsense with a few hours of approach from crag to crag)
2. Get "up north" i.e. the Karakoram, if only to recce.
3. Climb at least the three new lines I've been eyeing.
4. Explore at least that one crag that looks so tempting from afar.
5. Get in shape/mental state where planning for 2016 will be even more ludicrous.

-Solo harder el cap route (central scrutinizer, Tempest, Kaos?)

-some FAs on a wall I've been scoping

Too many climbs in high country to list. Big wall spring season will arrive before alpine season after all I suppose.

Here's my resolution list for 2016 that focuses on the realistic and which improves on 2015:

1. No eye surgery;
2. No surgery of any kind;
3. No root canals;
4. No new physical health problem;
5. Climb in a new area;
6. Visit a new country (or 3).

Given above, it is easy to assume I didn't do well on any tick list that I had for 2015.

Mine was...

Attend the supertopo indian creek thing (would be fun to climb with Burchey, Jim, Weston, moosedrool, Mike and other STers!)
Meet STers I have not met, make friends, continue climbing with my current partners.
Explore new places, hopefully climb new routes, push my climbing abilities, learn new things.
Free the new route I climbed on Bubbs Creek Wall.
#1 - NOT GET INJURED!

Attended THREE (Indian Creek, Danland and Shuteye) Supertopo gatherings. Went to Argentina and met a lot of cool new people.
Was not as big of a dick on the internet as I used to be? :)
Did not get injured severely enough that I was limited for an extended period. But did get hurt a few times. Mostly due to lack of rest.
Did free the route (Emperor) on Bubbs Creek wall!
Sent my first 5.12s on gear (Monkeypaws at Donner and Inflictor, Broken Tooth - Indian Creek)
Sent my first WI6 climb (The Nemesis)
First V5 in the GYM!
18 total FA/FFAs (III-V, 5.9-12a) (mostly First Ascents that were climbed free and grade IVs). Happiest about the Bubbs Creek Wall, Hamilton Dome, Castle Rock Spire, The Serpent's Tooth, Angel Wings, Cherubim Dome and summiting an unclimbed tower (arguably up to three unclimbed formations) by a new 1000 ft route! Naming three prominent formations was also really cool.
One of the coolest trips of the year was one to Tehipete with Daniel. Even though we didn't 'send,' I believe we gave it our best attempt and hopefully we will be back if the planets align.
Doing Nose in a day, Silver Strand, Salathe Wall, Stoner's Highway, Beggar's Buttress and a bunch of other established routes was great too. For next year, the goal is to meet more cool people, not get injured, attend more gatherings, improve as a climber, attempt more new routes, encourage others to get out to remote places/do climbs they always wished to get done and to not be afraid of failing! :)

Ticked off the 2015 list 100 percent: one climb, the first ascent of the Funnybone in Idaho. Not worth doing, you bet! Bleaah! For 2016, the tick list has two items of wholly different character: the Lost Arrow Spire tip and that buttress on Cathedral Peak in Tuolumne! Is it the Southeast Buttress? Yeah, that one. Who wouldn't want to climb the LA tip? Then I can fold up my bony old ass and die, you bet!
