Yep. When I saw these vids, I thought, "wow, this dude has a video of himself climbing every boulder I could ever hope to climb in SoCal"...

Nice work, Friend! Really great videos. So many times I'm watching them saying, "so THAT'S how it goes...!"

What's radder still is that he made most of those videos himself, out alone, no pad, sometimes far out with no cell reception!

I'm pretty sure he has a secret stash of videos he hasn't made public...but my guess is with some prodding...

Is it me or does he just not look totally solid on a few of those? I was kinda cringing.... Were those maybe onsight solos? Big balls in any case...

I've climbed on a lot of California granite but never Mt. Woodson. You have me inspired Friend!

That muther f#cker just simply must crank through because some of these problems are 20+ miles bushwhacking from the car and without pad.

It's just too far and the brush is too thick to carry one.

It's all he can do to carry the camera gear, and do the problem 3 times for proper editing.... and then get back before dark.

oh, PS. Yes he IS mean.

I think you're having us on dee ee! His online persona is more friendly than yours, and that's tough.

I couldn't find the Marshmallow video.

The Marshmallow Tower is a classic but has a loose hold at the crux. Yikes. Sometimes it looks sketchier than it is, sometimes the opposite. The other side is too dicey for me to boulder, or lead for that matter.

Hensel: John W. pointed out Welcome to Rubidoux to me just this last weekend. All I can do is shake my head in awe. There's nothing there! Looks like amazing stone.

Videos of flailing: um, yes. The Vimeo servers would crash if I tried to upload every boulder I’ve cratered off of. I try to stay within a range I can downclimb, but I guess falling is part of climbing. Here is a good one, working on a FA near Idyllwild. The first clip on the page, John Long’s infamous Largo Scoop, also features some good plyometrics (aka cratering) and top notch sandbagging from the notorious DEE himself.

Cheers all and thanks again. All your great comments really mean a lot to me. See you at the crags..

my biggest fear is that this thread will only encourage him to train harder! Not sure how that is even possible actually. You're the best Padless Bald Dude.

Friend: yeah, WTR is about as good as the stone gets. That's one of the things about it that makes it attractive. Nice tight grained granite, almost like, dare I say it, Rubidoux. Hahaha. In a way it's too bad the arête requires so much work to get to, the arête would be a classic if it could be done by itself.

Thanks for the vids, good stoke. The only downside is now I'm thinking I'm going to have to figure out how to work some Woodson trips in this season.

Good stuff.

Yes John, "train harder" I'm not sure that is possible (for him). edit...Oh you said that!

The Largo Scoop is one of my proudest bouldering moments.
