One of my most enjoyable climbs was Snake Dyke in the full moon. I remember freezing at the base waiting for the moon to rise. We did not have headlamps. I have always wanted to return and repeat that route. I even fantasized free-soloing it, but I don't have the stones.

Thanks Mr. E. There is NOTHING like the Eastern Sierra and the Incredible friends it has provided me. The moon was awesome and Tuesday night there was a gigantic rainbow circle around it. So fun to rap. You, Dude, are so getting the drum nailed. Smiles, lynnie

Edit: and thank all of you for your fantastic pics.

Thanks Edge! I don't have a camera that can do the Full justice.

Last night was cloudy, but the night before sat on the hill and ruminated on the pretty close to full moon, the world and it's beauty, life and many things that come to mind when the moon brings you peace.

It was wonderful and life is good. But I miss my 10,000 feet, black skies and real views of the Milky Way.....Milky Freeway from the view at Tioga Pass.

Peace, lynnie

THE MOON AND THE SUN
Barry Pietrantonio

The Sun shines,
the fog blinds,
together they make,
a rainbow in the sky.

The Moon stares,
into a lake,
and wonders why,
he's a big mistake.

Why can't he be the Sun,
and light up the day.
Why can't he be the one,
to make the bad go away.

Why can't he be the light,
that brightens everyones day.
Instead he sits in the night,
wishing the Sun would go away.

The Moon glows,
the stars show,
a pattern of love,
that lights the Earth below.

To himself,
the Sun confides,
that he wishes,
he controlled the tides.

Why can't he be the Moon,
and turn darkness into light.
Why can't he be the one,
to light up the great night.

Why can't he have the grace,
of being with the stars.
Instead he sits up in space,
wishing he could take his place.

But what they both don't know is,
they need each other.
What they both don't know is,
that they are brothers.

We live in jealousy,
envying each other.
Please, just be thankful,
and happy for others.

The Sun needs the Moon,
to keep the night lit bright.
The Moon needs the Sun,
to produce his shining light.

The Sun needs the Moon,
and the Moon needs the Sun.
If they work together,
they can be one.

If they work together,
they can be one.
if they work together,
they will be one.

If we work together,
we could be one.
If we work together,
we will be one.

Neat sky there, hooble.

It's nice as pie when the moon's in the sky
But not so bright as to block the light
Of the co-star who, very unlike you,
Sits far away and blazes away
The same each and every night.
If you will click to enlarge
you will notice the evening stars.

Hooblie and Mouse, Gracias! My camera does not do the night sky justice, and it's been gorgeous here in San Diego with the moon framed by effervescent clouds of moonlite whites and greys.

Here are some words I wrote for a song about the Moon and the Earth.
It's about time and gravity.

A simple D C B B flat dropdown.

Well the Moon came down to Earth one dark and stormy Friday

And the Earth, he knew just what to say.

He said, "Baby don't you know, its our destiny , we were meant to be

So why don't you come along with me"

And he said

" I know that someday I can fly away with you

Walking along on a country road, with nothing much to do

And I can sing my song for you and try to make me smile,,

For me,, oh baby can't you see"

And so the Moon she takes a spin around the planet Earth

And she decides that she likes the things that she can see

So she says to the Earth "Its you and me forever

You got a hold on me and I can never get away"

And she says

" I know that someday I can fly away with you

Walking along on a country road with nothing much to do

And I can sing my song for you, and try to make you smile

For me,, oh baby can't you see"

Its many years now, the time has come

The final countdown has begun

And so the Earth and the Moon they finally come together

And so the Earth and the Moon they finally are one

And they say

" I knew that some day I could fly away with you

Walking along on a country road, with nothing much to do

And I can sing my song for you, and try to make me smile

For me,,,

Oh baby,, can't you see,,
