By my count (or rather ST's) 4548.

Why does this matter?

That's a differenct question.

I don't understand.

You want to know how many threads link to other threads on this board?

Are you saying that there are only 4500 different threads? (No!) or thread that reference/link to other threads...?

Confused

I'd like to hear the end of the story for any mpore thought on this subject.

Link to other threads

for example: a circular link

http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=2520985&tn=0#msg2520985

How many are circular?

That's a different question.

Do any of these questions matter?

Another different question.

Are there any good questions being asked or answered on sT?

That's another different question.

Is ST in danger of becoming inbread?

Another. As Cher used to say "the beat goes on" (Or was it Sonny?)

On the other hand, 249596 posts seem to reference the hypertext protocol

http:\\

I think this excludes links out to photos.

Once someone has analyzed this, feel free to post it here.

The queries themselves took about 5 seconds each. The analysis could be problematic, that's why it ain't me, babe. Could be a follow on project for Licky though.

i got 9104 with "www.supertopo.com/climbing" and 8974 with "www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread"

and the same 249599 for "http://" that you got... but yeah that does include outside supertopo web hosted photos, while not including supertopo hosted photos...

so ~0.4% of posts are directly linked to other supertopo posts and ~11.9% are directly linked to other locations on the web [including supertopo].

not sure what this says about whether or not st is inbred...

although i did calculate a couple years ago that the top 20 posters accounted for ~20% of the posts on st...

so depending on the definition, maybe a little inbred?..

I was in the academic world for a while. This is the kind of stuff that "social scientists" do.

Some anthropoligist 40 years from now may analyze it all (especially when they can get traffic data) and 'splain it all. Or, then again NSA may have already done it.
