I just got 2 pairs of shoes back today. Not only do they look and feel FABULOUS, but it's the little things that count. Also in the box was a hand-written note, stickers, 2 mints, and the best and most surprising thing -- 2 pairs of new shoelaces. Wow, that totally made my day! He also extended the rand on my old favorite pair of Huecos to cover up a small hole in the upper. It's so nice to see such attention to detail! So here's his info:

Barry's Resoles
41585 Auberry Road
Auberry, CA 93602
(559) 855-4511

I've had him do my resoles for a while now, and am a big fan. No offense meant to other resolers who post here -- just giving props where they are certainly due!

I don't know that I would be willing to eat a mint that had been boxed with MY shoes...

But I'll file his address away for when I need a minty-fresh resole.

Hey Locker,

Is Carly the offwidth freek still hanging around in winter? Or is the larvea keeping her tied down year round?

And we all know that you just bought the cobbler business and we are fine with you posting up but this probably wasn't the right thread to do it in. Leave this thread for Barry.

Barry has done over a dozen pair of shoes for me. Each and every time they have been awesome.
At one point Barry had broken a finger or something like that and he could not do my shoes, so I sent them to some other place. To make a long story short I was way bummed with the quality of the others guys work.

I'm new here, but just wanted to give Barry kudos, too. He spent about 20 min. on the phone explaining how he would fix my shoes, and was just the nicest guy you could ever want to do business with. My shoes came back within a week and they are better than when I first bought them! I also got a nice hand-written note and a sticker, which is now on my helmet.

Thanks, Barry!

Had them out on Gary's woody a couple of weeks ago and in the Valley last weekend. It is awesome to have a pair of boots that are actually made to climb wide stuff.

Barry, The Pope, Gahndi, Frank Zappa and Chuck Norris......all awesome heroes!.....He climbs, he resoles, .....he da Man!

AWESOME! A thread I really get into.....

I met Barry many years ago at an SSCA gathering/meeting down on the Kern one February. Met'em, climbed with'em and been sending my shoes to him ever since. NOBODY does a nicer job.

I broke my Rt. foot few years back, and my Mythos were no longer stiff enough for my overly sensitive foot. He added an extra thin layer of harder rubber and new soles for me. Worked great. That's just the last thing he's done. He's gone out of his way for me several times. Everytime I get him on the phone we talk for a good half hour....GREAT GUY....GREAT RESOLER.....GREAT CLIMBER.

Can't remember the number of times I've said "go to Barry, he's the best". I'm happily suprised to see so many posts in his good name.

From a recent email

" The address is still 41585 Auberry Rd.,
Auberry CA 93602. Half-soles are $32 per pair; rands are $9 per shoe
if needed and shipping is $6 for 1st pair (plus $2 for each
additional pair.) Email is checked on an irregular basis, so it's OK
to phone if you have questions or requests. 559 855-4511
thanks for thinking of me, Barry"

Barry is the best hands down

I sent my shoes to Al at Positive Resoles for a while and then just to switch things up sent them to Barry. Barry then sent them to Al because he had busted his wrist in a biking accident!! I thought that was funny, and a nice plug from Barry.

Another great ST thread! Good info, good stories, good folk.

When I first saw the title of this thread, it was right next to the Bachar-Yerian thread. I read "re-soler" as someone doesn't just solo something, but soloes it again! Bachar and soloing being the operative connection. Since this is the Taco Stand, I figured, "sure, that's plausible."

I'm off caffeine (but not coffee), so I gotta figure out what else to cut down on!

Barry does. He may not have it on his flyer (i havent seen one in a while) but I have onyx on a couple of resoles Barry did. Call him to confirm, but I don't think he has stopped using onyxx.

Got my Kaukulators back from Barry, he fixed a number of problems brought on by abusive offwidth climbing. They now sport slightly thicker heel rands and look great! Other repairs here and there are a hallmark of Barry's careful craftmanship.

These boots were resoled and repaired about 1.5 years ago by Barry and have been used extensively in the intervening time. Barry has been so good he's the cause of my delay in getting a pair of JB's (though that will be rectified soon).

Barry recently did an old pair of kaukulators, they came back as good as new. The toes had been turned into a big blob by the previous resoler and came back beautifully chiseled. I too am very happy with his work. Very very happy.

Wanted to do a quick post even though I'm supposed to be frantically packing up for my road trip.

We just got our seven pairs of shoes back from Barry along with a note on how to take better care of our shoes, shoelaces, and mints, which Erik calls "life-savers for climbers." I think the mints are for the mail man though. I say that because Barry just sounded like such a thoughtful guy every time I talked to him on the phone. And the resole, what a beautiful he has done!

Okay, back to packing...
