Scott's sister Lori and I have started a fundraiser to help Scott on his road to recovery, please do what you can. Everything helps. There is no amount too small. If we all give a little, it adds up to a lot!

The link to the fundraiser is:
http://gfwd.at/1wfaY31

If that doesn't work, you can just go to giveforward.com and search for the fundraiser under his name.

Thank you!

And, if you aren't in a position to contribute financially, I ask that you please continue praying and keep the positive energy coming!
Also, you can leave a note or a *hug for him on the fundraiser page.

More of an explanation would be helpful. Coz is a hero to me. That and a friend to many others. Some very good people have already donated.

But, if he was injured on the job, doesn't Worker's Comp insurance cover all of that? Like, there shouldn't even be a deductible. It's 100%.

I understand if he doesn't have Aflac that pays all your rent and other bills while you are laid up. That is some smart stuff to have.

What is the $30 G's for?

Also, is any entity liable? Equipment company, studio, etc? Will he be able to cash in on a lawsuit or settlement? I realize those things can take months or years to pay so maybe he needs help in the meantime.

Not trying to be an azz, just that coughing up decent dough requires some certainty that it is actually going where it is intended.

Went to the link and donated to the Coz Cause.

No matter what the insurance arrangements may be, cash flow will not be good for the immediate future. Many WC arrangements don't replace 100% of your income. I am not rich, but I can spare some cash to help out a very nice man who is going to be hurting for a very long time.

I posted on the other thread, but will post here too. I have donated, and appreciate having the opportunity to do so.

I grew up in a home where my father was injured on the job and could not work for over 2 years. Yes, workman's comp and other safety nets were there, but you are a fool if you think that will make you whole. Those were rough times for my family, and a few bucks here and there from friends put food on the table more than once. Unless Coz is independently wealthy (which I do not think he is), he is going to have a rough financial road ahead of him.

I don't want to take the focus off Coz, so I will only say that a few bucks each from all the folks that posted on the other thread will mean a lot to Coz, a climber that has done much for the activity that we all enjoy.

Cheers.

i'd like to offer more but
my time is non existent,

Even if (big "IF") Scott is totally covered by some insurance or worker's comp... this is going to be a long hospital stay and there's other life expenses involved. House payments/rent, insurance and a myriad of other bills that have to be taken care of while he recovers. He will be unable to support himself for a very long time.

I'll donate some artwork for the impromptu auction as well. (I'll pay shipping.) Stained glass of Saddle Peak, CA. Made from recycled 100+ year old salvaged glass and jewels. I work in miniature so this is around 6" x 10". Start the bidding at $100?

Lynne,

To the best of my knowledge, yes.
Cozzy says he has to be careful about what he puts out on the internet and that the folks at the rehab center keep a pretty tight program as far as access to him goes.
Those who know him well enough to have his phone number can check in with him.
He's returning my texts and calls and says he's arranged to be able to have occasional visitors.
Hope this makes sense.

Toker V, my first impression would be that what you're asking isn't possible. 501c3 corporations have to benefit the public in general, not direct money to specific individuals. But on the other hand, some charities will let you sponsor a specific child in a foreign country, so maybe there is a way to do it. You would have to find an organization that has already been approved by the IRS for this kind of thing: http://www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits/Charitable-Organizations/Exempt-Purposes-Internal-Revenue-Code-Section-501(c)(3);
