If so, I think I'm going to change my name to SOUL SLAYER
I just wiped out about a million of those little suckers. (a mere pittance, given the estimated world ant population of 10,000 trillion).
There goes another one !

I'm going genocidal on a yellow jacket's nest this very afternoon.
No judgement. No hate. Just business.

I think they may have a collective soul. At least that's what I tell myself when they violate our treaty and I kill them.

They quite possibly do which would make them different from humans.

The Hopi's believed that the ants took humans underground to save them from cataclysmic events.
Like humans, if someone believes they have a soul than I guess they do.

I'm all about endemic species which is why I'm down on the aggressive
Peronist Argentines which have totally colonized the whole West Coast.

PETA just sent me a letter stating that if I don't cease and desist the massacre they are going to protest in front of my house.
The CBD is filing a lawsuit trying to close nearby Malibu Creek to climbing in order to protect the Argentine ant (Linepithema humile).
It seems there are less than 735,000,000,000 of these creatures left roaming this SoCal climbing area.
They are concerned that climbers are peeing in ant holes for sport and wiping out hundreds of colonies (over the last 65 years).

I don't know if ants have a soul, but you can play it safe by being kind to them
Too late...they should have stayed outside. The cat stays inside, so the lines are clear. When they came inside to eat the cat's food, he became very upset. They died. Sucks to be them...or at least it used to.

Interesting question. Anyone know of a link to buy
Soul Detector Kits? Thought they would be sold near
the pregnancy test kits but no luck.

I've seen a column of army ants on the move in Costa Rica.
The first thing you perceive is the strong smell of formic acid in the air. Then the sound - the gentle shush of a million ants not so gently marauding their way through fallen leaves and ground cover.
The column was about a meter wide and god knows how long. Solid ants - it undulated like a jittery fluid, flowing across the forest floor at about a foot a minute.
The front of the column was utter pandemonium in miniature - a panicked exodus of leaping arthropods (think a beetle can't show fear?), many of them being picked off by an opportunistic cloud of hovering wasps and flies. Those that stumbled were immediately torn apart by the column.
It was one of the most stunning wildlife experiences I've ever witnessed.
Be very glad we're not that small.

Feel free to kill some crazy ants
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-rise-of-the-crazy-ants/
My brother was telling me about crazy ants, they invaded the Gulf Coast, came in on freight through the port. When you exterminate them you practically have to shovel piles of them so thick it looks like dirt.
They love electricity and create havoc with electrical equipment

Semi-related, how about black widows? I caught one in a jar the other day, then when the weather was nice and hot I dropped her into my friendly driveway harvester ant nest. Quite the show, in the 10 year old boy/nature documentary way.
