So today my aging mother (82) call's and wants updates on all my friends. She suffers from dementia and her memory is really starting to go. Just a fact of life when your old.
So she asks about Wally, Grant, Phil and few others. She used to know their names no problem, but not anymore. Here's the kicker:
Mom:
"Who's that guy that looks like he crawled out from under a dead tree?"
Me:
"You mean Tucker?"
Mom:
"Yeah, that's him. How is he?"

You must not know Tucker very well, there's nothing clean about those clothes.

tucker is a smart man.
in a desert of the northern hemisphere,
if you fall asleep outdoors,
you face north.
i notice that the shadows
in that picture are long.
and since he is facing north,
them are morning rays.
tucker starts the day off right.

The photos I posted of tucker on this thread are pictures I took of Tucker on climbs we did together in the last 12 months.......I have a lot of pictures of Tucker climbing........why?
1) We climb often
2) We work only part time
3) we like to climb
4) I like to take pictures
5) I don't smoke or drink, so I need to do something with my "down" time at the crags
6) We are both old and need the exercise
7) You can only watch so much TV...then you gots to get outside
8) we have nothing better to do
9) Last winter, the weather was so warm, we climbed more often then usual
10. As a dog returneth to it's own vomit,...so we returneth to the crags.
11. Tucker is a great climbing partner for me, for the most part.
12. We never run out of climbs to
13. We both have limited $, so we climb mostly locally;...I have limited time too with 3 smallish children....(who are quickly becoming not-so-smallish)...
14. He is avaliable and psyched to climb almost anytime;...I have family responsiblities and when I have free time, it's great to have a partner who is ready to go.
15. He doesn't like to repeat climbs;...neither do I so much.....
16. We both climb 5.10s...and occasionally 5.11s......so we climb about the same (although he is usually a bit stronger/braver than I most of the time...but not always)..
17. We are both safe climbers;....I've never really seen him do anything dicey or dangerous outside of occasional run-outs;...his anchors and belaying (even while drinking) are five star.
If I could go to work everyday for 32 years....I can surely go climbing two or three days a week........why not...
Climbing is a blast;....I consider it WAY fun.........
Only held tucker on one leader fall last year;...when a hold broke on a new route. I don't believe he held me on one leader fall last year......(I usually hang or go for it and make it;..both of us aren't into leader falls).......we climbs conservatively and reponsively, for the most part...
Looking forward to another 12 months of lots of climbs, exploring, exercise, and mega-fun days with Tucker ........life is sweet here in the high desert...

Never met Tucker, but I would not have been surprised to have come across someone like him over fifty years ago at the Climbers Campground in the Tetons. He looks to be at peace with himself and his circumstances.
