Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!! Rich Ross is right - this thread has indeed "jumped the shark"!

Cosmic, that photo is brilliant. You won't believe this, but I was watching AMC two nights ago, saw the dude riding the shark for Shark Week, and was actually thinking,

"I want to BE that dude!" So thanks for making my dream a reality.

.

Petie: "Anita nother beer. So hand me yours, Anita nother favour from you."

Anita: "You don't expect me to pick up that canoe and carry it, surely."

.

Petie in deadpan voice of Leslie Neilson from Airplane: "Yes, I do. And don't call my 'Shirley'."

How does she do it with that thing on her leg?

Was Cosmic "gone"? And now he's "back"?

It's just attention seeking behaviour, typical for a McTopo Addict.

Oh, for fukk's sake! Look at Cosmic's avatar!

He has come back as Steve Grossman! That is frickin' SCARY, dude.

Seriously, Ron! Cosmic's avatar above is EXACTLY what Steve looks like in the interview scene at the end of Jeff Vargen's Wings of Steel movie!

You know the scene, where Steve says that if Mark and Richard had needed a rescue, he and the SAR team would have just left them up there for dead. [But they didn't need a rescue, now did they?] ;)

So Anita said she wanted to learn how to climb big walls.

“That’s easy,” I told her. “About all you need to bring if you’re climbing with me is beer and jugs.”

“How’s this, Petie?”

“Nice start, but what about the wine?”

We went out for supper, and enjoyed arguably the finest bottle of Petite Sirah I have ever had. The owner of the restaurant liked it so much, she bought all that was left. Nice find up in the Great White North, eh?

“I guess we’ll have to go visit the winery ourselves, it’s right on the way to Yosemite from the airport.” [HINT]

The next day, I set up Anita with my jugs, and up she climbed.

Not bad considering she’s still wearing the external fixator on her leg. Check it out – a proud ascent, for sure!

We’re at Kingston Mills, above the locks that are part of the Rideau Canal which joins Lake Ontario from Kingston to the Ottawa River at Ottawa.

Now, look carefully at this next shot and check out the perfect double bowline I tied in the jugging rope – I got the knot right on the first try! I couldn’t believe it, as I find it quite a hard knot to tie.

The next day we paddled into our campsite on Depot Lake.

“Hey Anita, why don’t you throw out your lure and troll it across the lake? You’re good at trolling.”

Now, I need you to study this next photo very carefully, because it shows that the “Pass the Pitons” Pete Junk Show is knott confined to El Cap – I can bring it in my canoe, too!

See the Fish bags – made by our own Russ Walling – with my initials on ‘em?

We set up camp and made pina coladas from some rum I brought back from Belize when I was caving there over Christmas and New Year’s. We sent this photo to my caving partner, because we thought it was fun, but never heard back. Strange.

A beauty sunset with the white pines silhouetted.

The next day, we went on a canoe trip, across three portages, and back again. I carried the canoe, and Anita carried everything else. That thing on her leg sure doesn’t slow her down much!

Anita strikes first, with a mighty Northern Pike! What a monster - the lure is almost as big as the fish. Sheesh.

As always, these things take longer than you think, and we arrived back at camp at last light.

The next morning, we cooked up some bacon and cheddar sausages over an open fire. Mmmmmmm, bacon! I think someone needs to cross-post this photo in the Bacon Thread!

Then we packed the junk show back into the canoe, and paddled for home.

Au revoir until next time, eh?

Cheers,
Pete and Anita

P.S. If you want to check out our first canoe adventure, you can find the photos here in the deleted post:

our travels here on earth
are document by observers afar.

each path that we scribe
contributes to the collective picture
of our larger dance.

a dirt constellation if you will.

and the alien astronomers whom dig holes
in the sky
are drinking star serum and moon semen
as they giggle at our stumble
and name each group of wiggly lines
after its author.

their favorite so far is the one
that pete draws.

in pete's point travels,
a & b are not successive.
maybe only americans
chase the shortest distance
between location variables,
but in canada,

they go to a, then to el cap, at x, then b. then el cap again.
and el cap. el cap. c. and be comes afer z.

zeus in the sky has already
named pete's constellation anita.
even though he's many more vectors to weave.

his picture so far
is one of a beautifly brown-eyed gal.

I haven't forgotten about my beers either, collection time will come.
Good one Moose! I once thought of introducing her to my son but then found out she's waaaay too old for him. Who knew???? I knew I shoulda moved to Canada when I had the chance. Eternal youfulness.

Never say someone looks "good for their age."

Just say they look good. That is certainly the case with Anita.
