Anita is cool, she and her boyfriend are crazy ice climbers so there is that. And she packs some iron I think in more ways than one. Her selfie thread is one of my favorites on the forum.

Hope you are healing well!

hmmm... based on the posts i've seen the presently feted is apparently:

1. under 40.
2. female.
3. still actively climbing.
4. if not 100% frog, at least hails from their lands.
5. iconoclastic.

except for the last point she is effectively an antimatter equivalent relative to the average st poster.

hope she continues to share her unique voice around here.

Laughing out loud at Susan! Let me give you a little hug: {hug}

One of the things I love most about Anita is she is REAL. She is who she is, and will always be herself in spite of what her seemingly numerous and jealous detractors sometimes have to say, statements which for the most part appear to be completely without merit.

How can you not love a girl who presents herself - not just in the good times looking glamourous on some Gunks classic - but also in the tough times? I admire a lady who was willing to undergo painful elective surgery, knowing how long the recovery period would be. And she's not afraid to show her external-fixator thingy, or her bleeding cheek when she gets clobbered by ice while climbing. In fact, it's her presentation of herself in unattractive settings that makes her so attractive.

And then, there is the Anita Smile....

But best of all, she's SSSSSSSSSSASSY!!!!

hey there say, anita514, here's hoping your leg is the best it can be, soon...

happy appreciation thread...
when the days are hard, or times are tough, it is nice to
see that someone appreciates us, even folks that we may not
have met yet, but have appreciated what we have shared,
as to our trail...

sharing trail-notes, helps not only us, but others, as to seeing
new things, as well... which leads to more appreciation, as to
live itself...

hope to see some good climbing stuff, after the leg heals...
stuff that will make up for all that pain that the process
put you through...

anita: it's ok. you have good literary company.

The America author Don Marquis is best known for his "archy and mehitabel" books, written entirely in lowercase letters because they were presented as the work of a cockroach who typed by jumping onto typewriter keys one at a time and never used the shift key to type capital letters.

We left the hardmen climbers to their own devices at Bon Echo, and paddled back across the tranquil waters of Mazinaw Lake.

Anita said she wanted to go fishin', so I said, "Sure, but you gotta portage the canoe".

"Wow, no problem!" she gushed. "It's lighter than my kayak."

Nice license plate, Hoser.

This chick might have an external fixator, but she is also fixated on selfies. Look what she got up to while I was busy loading the canoe - I found this picture on my camera later. [Good thing she's cute]

"Get over here, Petie...."

I didn't want to do this selfie, she made me. Check out Anita's "moviestar" sunglasses. My clip-ons and keeper cord are pretty stylin' too, doncha think? What can I say -- “To be bitchin’, ya gotta look bitchin’.”

This next photo below illustrates what I might appreciate most about Anita, which is that she doesn't let minor inconveniences like major surgeries stand in the way of her having fun and seeking adventure. What you can't see here is that she is standing ankle deep in gloopy, stinky thixotropic mud!

"I'm supposed to keep this thing clean," she lamented. "And you'd better not show this picture to my doctor!"

"All right," I agreed. "But it's gonna cost ya - hand me that beer."

After picking a few water lilies, we decided to try our luck trolling. This was the first time ever that Anita had gone trolling. {ahem} She certainly knows how to handle her rod.

We pulled up onto this island, where we found a bar fully stocked with Yuengling Lager, IPA and even a spray bottle of citronella. Anita was forever griping about our weak and not-bitter-enough Ontario IPA's. "Quebec's IPA's are so much better than this swill from Ontario," she complained.

"Then you need to come to California," I suggested, "where the IPA's are so bitter they'll curl your tongue."

Anita's eyes lit up.

And speaking of eyes .... dreamy eyes .... um ...... Geez, I forgot what we were talking about. Sheesh.

Oh yeah, right. "So like, don't slide too far under the water with all that metal on your leg, or you might sink to the bottom and never come back up, eh?"

After a time, we returned to the lake for more fishing, and lo and behold, if Anita didn't catch the first-ever fish of her life - a spunky little smallmouth bass on a dorky frog-coloured surface lure with a propeller for feet. In fact, she even christened the lure for me – a First Ascent.

I couldn't have been more proud of Anita and her First Fish, plus she saved us from getting skunked. OK, barely saved us.

"He's not very big, Petie...."

"Hey, half of somethin' is better than all of nothin'. And besides, look at the bright side – as far as your new career in fishing is concerned, you've got nowhere to go from here but up!"

So there you have it. "We cheated death once again." And congrats on your first ever fish, eh?

"Aw, shucks...."

Anita is nice. It’s nice to be nice to the nice.

And there is no one nicer than Leisser. ;)

Much appreciated, Pete!

Congrats on the fish; and do you ever look like a natural, handling both the rod and the fish at the same time, I must say.

Also, the logistics of a your taking a selfie while doing so boggle my brain.

We are like, Hosers. So take off, eh?

And you like, forgot to factor beers into the equation above.

Mouse - she makes it look easy, but my jaw nearly hit the gravel when she picked up the canoe! She did a great job in tough confines with that external fixator thingy. What a contraption it is - a real paradox: grotesque, but a marvel of modern engineering.
