I'll be down there from the 1st of Aug through the 5th. It's a family trip but I've received clearance to climb on one day before we hook up with family in Coronado.

Anybody have any good ideas on good stuff? Woodson sounds ideal.

Anybody interested in climbing? Or spotting? I only climb at 5.11 on a good day, but am a good spotter. I wanna nail some of the .9'ers or .10's.

Woodson is great. Mission Gorge has some good, slick stuff too.

Mother Superior at Woodson will keep you amused for a while ;-)

I can see through this thinly veiled attempt to climb with warbler.

Nah, I just want have a partner. El Fish, or Wendell, or STahlBro would be sweet. But I just need a spotter.

My wife and boy are totally useless....for spotting.

Kevin would be sweet too though!

I'll be up in the sierras but it'll be hot, hot, hot! Get out from pre-sunrise - 8am, or 5pm-dark.

bluering - Bummer! I'm down here right now, and could give you the full meal deal tour of Woodson (leaving on Tuesday). You might try connecting with the Allied Climbers of San Diego website (think that's what it's called), as there may be someone who could do that for you. It's much better to go with someone who knows the mountain really well already (if you decide to head to Woodson, that is), since it's loaded with absolutely beautiful splitters from bottom to top.

Have fun!

I saw someone mention Mission Gorge. Just a heads up, but there was a fire in the park that looks like it burned through Middle Earth and the park has closed the entire climber's loop so there is no legal climbing in the park at the moment. I'm trying to talk to a ranger to figure out the details of the closure, how long it might be, and whether or not the Main Wall will open up sooner or if the complete closure will stay in place. MTRP might not be a place to climb by early August if the closures remain...

Sucks about Mission Gorge, hopefully it won't be closed for too long. I will be around Bluey, hit me up. We can at least hit up Woodson, or some of the other local crags in the afternoon shade. Have a safe trip :)

It seems like Mission Gorge (if open) in the morning (until noon or so) or Woodson would be most convenient since you want to end up in Coronado after. Woodson can be done in blast furnace conditions as proven during a Woodson Shindig about 7 years ago.
I would love to join you guys if I am in town. I will check to see if something is happening.

If Woodson is the destination try to make it on a weekday. On Sat and Sun the masses show up to hike to the top to see Potato Chip Rock. It is pretty much a total buzz kill.
