Time to post the pictures you didn't intend to take.

Ok simple mission. Get some good bouldering pictures of crimpy on a St Louis trip so I can do a nice TR. Simple right? Not if you have a slight delay in your shutter. :
First problem:
Second problem:
Third problem. Getting frustrated now!
So I say f%$^$k it. I'll just take a nice bird picture.

you can't win!!

I especially like the third one, where crimp's slapping the boulder in disgust.

That 'high five' one looks like pre-cambrian rock, what is it?

All the bouldering pics are at Elephant Rocks in Missouri. Here is a quote from their web site:
Imagine giant granite rocks standing end-to-end like a train of circus elephants. That's what you'll see at Elephant Rocks State Park. About 1.5 billion years ago, hot magma cooled forming coarsely crystalline red granite, which later weathered into huge, rounded boulders.
There are even John Gill routes there.
The below picture is from a Dingus post on RC.com.

'stuff kinda looks like monzonite.
then look at that center gill shot.

Tar, that's Sherman, peabody, maybe.

I recognized it from the Gill book photos, but I'd never seen it in color before; the pink k-spars xtals (geologist jive-jargon) jumped out at me. That it indeed IS 1.5 byo really reinforces the Sherman granite connection plausibility. I will investigate, any info? -Elephant Rocks SP, Mo?

This does not look like unintended pictures, so much as snapshots that go into the circular receptacle.

An example of an unintended picture is the unfocused rope and rock next to your pant leg while leading After Six.

Lesson, when using disposable cameras, advance film before shots, not after when climbing.

Though I suppose these pictures qualify, if, and only if, you were using your grandmother's camera, and you did not realize that she had the date stamp setting turned on.

TIG, fwiw, my INTENT was to capture crimpie on multiple boulder problems. The unintended result was pictures of her falling three times on three different problems. un·in·tend·ed - Not deliberate or intentional; unplanned

As I look through 30 years of climbing pics I really wish I always had the date stamp. My pictures are for memories, not professional publication so I like to see the date. I have actually had people politely ask why I do that as opposed to trying to make a snide condescending remark.

Dogfather - cool to see the Gill photos. I wondered how in the heck he got off the ground there. Even after seeing it, I know that my attempt would produce yet another cratering photo. That rock is friggin' sharp!

If you were using a digital rangefinder camera, I have a suggestion.
I find that with this type of camera, that when I press the shutter button at the action moment, that there is a delay and the moment is missed.
To correct this, I press the button half way, to focus, then at the right moment, press it the rest of the way. No delay.
Fresh batteries help too!

Nice advice all. Dogfather got tons of great photos from that bloody trip too. We all had a great time. Too bad it was 100 degrees. Brutal.

Crimpie, the scary thing about the Gill picture is that he has not crash pad, the landing is granite and we know that rock is huge with no obvious easy way down.
Sometimes the pictures captures the climb perfectly but the other people in the shot don't have a clue:

No kidding. As the recipient of a 'digger' off the top of one of those rocks earlier this year, I can attest to the fact that the rock there is HARD, and SHARP, and it will put a hurt on a person.
