Not sure how many ballers are out there but I love the playoffs. I watched the Warriors/Clippers first game this afternoon. That's going to be a good series to watch. The Blazers are my team and they're up against a tough Rockets team. Psyched to watch that game tomorrow.

So what's your team? Whose gonna win it all? Post up your thoughts.

Potland Trailblazers,,, PFFFFTT!!
Do you remember my t-shirts from the 90's. "Help take the R out of Portland"
"R" meaning republican. But I'm a Golden Boy. ALL the Cali teams are my teams.
But for ur info; this is the decade (or two) of No. 6. We must all bow down to The King!
Kobe sure did, follow suit.
I'll bet a cheeseburger for the Heat in 5!

But ur right! We'll definitely see some great ball..

If Dame has a playoff breakout the blazers could go deep. He matches up well vs Beverly so I think they will beat the Rockets in the first round.

WTF happened to my Pacers? Sometime around January they went from being the best team in the league to one of the worst. They still got the #1 seed based on the 1st half of the season, but just lost game 1 to the woeful Hawks. Ugh!

If the Pacers don't win I am rooting for Golden State in the West & anyone but the Heat in the East.

No idea. But will say that 2 times ago when I was in Red Rocks, I'd call my boy to read the casino odds and ask who he was favoring for each game. Would go like this.

I'd say: "Heat at home against the Lakers and the Heat are favored by 8-1/2". (Just that fast)

He'd reply: "8-1/2... man, Heat should be up 12 and they'll have their reserves in coasting to a win in the 4th qtr, (insert some unknown to me name like Labrisha Evans) is healthy and playing well and (insert another name like LaQunita Moeuuff) can't guard that 12' jumper he's got" blah blah blah. He was picking 80% of the games correct. Made his daddy both happy and wealthier...

Howard had a good game. But Lopez made him work for it. The blazers bench is a little soft. Hopefully they'll step it up when needed. The starting five can't play that many minutes every game.

Very psyched for the Warriors tonight. That game one win was a wierd one as Blake Griffin played so little due to his foul trouble. I expect the Clips will be a tall order for the Ws tonight.

I do think the Warriors are an especially fun team to watch. Great passing by a bunch of really unselfish players--you could argue that it is the way the game is meant to be played.

Going to game 3 on Thursday...my son is a huge fan but my wife trumped him for the second ticket...she likes big events...he can't believe he has been aced out...he'll say things to his mom like, "Name two players on the Warriors bench?" Her answer, "Mugsy Bogues?" haha...

yeah, rooting for the warriors against a talented clippers team. blake griffin has gotten so much better the last two years. but when stephen curry goes off he can hit from half court if he wants to.

if the heat don't 3peat, i think it will be OKC that wins it all, such is my belief that kevin durant is as good as lebron, especially with a healthy westbrook.

Watched the third quarter of the OKC/Memphis game while at the gym. Memphis was owning them - up by 17! Then I come home and turn it on with 4 minutes left and Memphis is the proverbial deer in the headlights. They quit going in low to Gasol and stood around waiting until the clock ran out and then shot a desperation shot. They did pull it together in OT, if only just. Funny game.

Whoh there Barak, you can't afford the Skittles and they already have 3000 pages of attacking each other over on the ranchers and BLM beat the meat thread. Lebron is a super savvy dude and we should let the George Zimmerman dead horse sleep some more is my thought.

As noted above, it's all about money. As long as you remember that A) you don't own the team , ie, they are not SEATTLE'S team and never were, they happen to be there so the owners could make money, and B) The owners can do what they want (as long as the league agrees). Sorry for the reality check there. Interesting that Wiki doesn't have a complete list, but this is what they have. Remember when the Baltimore Bullets were riding high? Bo longer exist. Sort of. Zack Randolf is their main man now in place of Wes Unsold, they were called New Jersey Nets and now they are the Brooklyn Daddies or some such. I made that up to piss off the fans, I should have mentioned that Mormons love Jazz or something along those line to describe how that team got named: the facts follow.

Plus Tim Duncan is such a class act. So was David Robinson. A lot of guys

wanted to be an Olympic swimmer? But when he was 14 the only pool big enough

Ryand, in answer to your query "What is a Laker". I suspect it's a subliminal message via the owners to remind the fans 2 things. That they don't own jack or sh#t. Example, the Utah Jazz. What is a Utah Jazz? What does that mean? They don't have Jazz in Utah so to speak. Jazz is associated with New Orleans where the team moved from so the owner could make more money. Lets go with perhaps the Utah Handcarts, or Utah Seagulls, or Utah Pioneers....something appropriate. Not Jazz. Not Lakers either. However, if you are not too cornfused yet, the answer is found in the 5th line in the list upthread of teams which have moved. The Los Angeles Lakers moved to LA from Minneopolis where everyone knew them as the Minneopolis Lakers. They kept the 2nd part of the team name and dropped Minneopolis. Same with the New Orleans Jazz, etc etc

There are few lakes or water in Southern California, but as everyone knows......

Hope that was of some assistance and gives you a chuckle (as it does me) to reflect every time you hear the name "Lakers" that they really have a few less lakes than 10,000 in so cal. The word "Indian" as it relates to a near 600 year as yet uncorrected error and misnaming by a bunch Eurotrash also gives me a similar humor. Some of those folks still misusing the word might be able to actually find "India" on a map, where lives the actual "Indians" next door to the Pakistanis. It's clearly a badge of idiocy to persist for so long, but it's in my genes as well and I'm as guilty of it as the next. What a hoot.

That's weak Reilly, and I've been a Laker fan all my life.

First, the Lakers have been in LA 10 years longer than the Blazers have even existed. They brought a strong 13 year old program with them from MN.

Let's just say that LA has had a few hundred MILLION more to spend than the blazers have.

Portland has one of the best NBA cities in the country.

You blame that on the refs? C'mon bro, a little credit where it's due wouldn't hurt.

Barnes tries to stop Reggie jackson on a drive to the basket , brushes Reggie on the wrist and the ball goes out of bounds off Reggies hand..? Maybe a foul ? Thunder get the ball back after long reveiw and debate...Then Westbrook jacks up a desperation 3 pointer with 7 seconds left and Paul taps Westbrooks elbow after the ball is well on its' way to the hoop...the errant shot misses the mark...? You could see Westbrooks displeasure at his off the mark shot then it looked like the refs gave him a second chance...? "No blood, no foul." - Chick Hearn Them days are long gone - the refs are the game now.
The defender can't even look at the guy with the ball any more. There was
another out of bounds play 3 or 4 minutes before and the refs refused to even
look at it. Then there were at least 3 or 4 'blocks' where the Clipper
was standing as straight as a redwood. The best was the one where Westbrook
lowered his shoulder and literally jumped into the chest of Davis - blocking.

I've been watching refs all my life, same as it ever was. Some great calls, some not so good. Part of being human.

The refs didn't make any of those shots, or drive through the bigs, or come up with the great steals.

Rule 8 Section II - c of the NBA rulebook states:

If a player has his hand in contact with the ball and an opponent hits the hand causing the ball to go out-of-bounds, the team whose player had his hand on the ball will retain possession.

I suggest suiting up and becoming a ref if you can do better. I've tried it, and I can't do better.

Edit: That was no brush on Reggie's wrist either. That was way more of a foul than the one on Westbrook that cost the Clippers the game.

Chris Paul was the last guy with the ball and could have won it for the clippers but he lost it out of bounds. That's what lost the game for the clippers that and Doc Rivers crying about a call for the rest of the game instead of coaching. The clippers choked. Period.

I guess you haven't seen many guys from 15-30 years ago interviewed.
They used to let the men play. Now they're afraid their mascara might run.

I think Pop is too reliant on the Xs and Os of basketball, not necessarily
winning a game.
He didn't need to bench the starters today, just meet aggression with aggression - full court presses, some flagrant fouls, and taking every possession to the rack, or at least the paint would go a long way.
OKC went deer-in-the-headlights toward the end of the game anyway.
If spurs had just been more assertive starting the 2nd half it could have been different.

The game wasn't decided even though SA was up by 15 with 3 minutes to go..Miami is so explosive and nasty with their dirty tactics reminiscent of the old celtics.....Bad calls going both ways...

Court papers reveal details of Chris "Birdman" Andersen Internet hoax

By John Ingold
The Denver Post
POSTED: 06/10/2014 07:04:31 PM MDT10 COMMENTS
UPDATED: 06/11/2014 12:05:12 PM MDT

During the months-long investigation of a case involving Chris "Birdman" Andersen, there was always one number that didn't add up: 206.188.97.163.

The case involved allegations that the basketball star had threatened a young woman in California named Paris. But, when Douglas County Sheriff's detective Shawn Cronce looked closely at the pair's online communications, she noticed they often routed through the unknown computer at that IP address.

Time and again, Facebook chats and e-mails between California and Colorado zig-zagged north to the computer, located in Canada. Why?

In May 2012 — just days before a highly publicized search on Andersen's Larkspur home — search warrants served on Facebook profiles claiming to be for Andersen, Paris and a mutual connection revealed a clue. They all came back linked to the computer in Canada.

"I would conclude," Cronce later wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit, "that one person is running all three of these Facebook pages."

It would be another eight months before a constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police knocked on the remote Easterville, Manitoba, door of a 5-foot 2-inch agoraphobe named Shelly Chartier, who now faces charges in two countries that could send her to prison for decades.

Court documents in Douglas County district court shed new light on the bizarre case. Chartier, 30, faces charges in Colorado of identity theft, computer crimes, criminal impersonation, theft, sexual exploitation of a child and violation of the state's organized crime law. The most serious charge carries up to 24 years in prison.

The charges were filed in November, although they were not announced by the 18th Judicial District attorney's office. News of the charges was first reported by Newsweek magazine.

The case against Chartier in Colorado is currently on hold while she faces trial on similar charges in Canada. A spokesman for the district attorney's office said prosecutors here are working with the U.S. State Department and Canadian authorities to extradite Chartier to Colorado after the Canadian case is resolved.

Andersen, Paris and several others whom detectives say Chartier duped online are all considered victims in the case.

"It's been a really long road on this," said Mark Bryant, Andersen's attorney and agent.

According to the arrest affidavit, Chartier set up a fake Facebook profile for Andersen and snared Paris — who was 17 at the time but claimed to be 18 — when she unwittingly tried to contact Andersen through it. Chartier then contacted the real Andersen while posing as Paris and kept relaying messages and explicit photos between the two, while also inserting requests of her own. She went so far as to set up a real-life liaison between the pair in December 2011, according to the affidavit.

When Paris later refused to fly to Indianapolis to steal the passwords of a professional video-game player, prosecutors allege that Chartier grew angry and, posing as Andersen, threatened Paris. Posing as Paris's mom, detectives believe Chartier also contacted Andersen and demanded money, according to the affidavit.

Bryant said Andersen, a fan favorite for the Denver Nuggets who is now playing for his second NBA championship with the Miami Heat, is slowly recovering from the case, which cast a cloud over his career.

"He obviously has some very bad trust issues, and he's trying to get that back," Bryant said. "It's a healing process."
