Looking forward to the show tonight! Should be starting around midnight PST with totality about an hour later, from what I have read.

Bummed that many in the US are still dealing with cloud cover...here in Vegas it's clear as a frapping bell, about 75 degrees out and just a beautiful night in general. Planning on chilling on the porch with a non alcoholic cold one and a stogie and watching the show.

Hope someone here will get some good pics, my little point and click probably won't do anything worth posting haha.

I don't believe that this is correct. I believe totality is at 5 minutes after midnight PDT. ( west coast time )

Scroll down to where it explains stage 6, which is full eclipse.

We went to Glacier NP to watch the moonrise and eclipse but the clouds invaded. Just got home and the clouds are thinning. Gonna make some hot chocolate, roll a spleef and head to the backyard with my scope.

Lets see what happens.

Thanks for reminding me. I just ran out to check at midnight mountain time and it looks like it's just starting. Too bad it's so cold right now. Two nights ago it was in the 50's now it's below freezing.

I believe you are right John M. At 11.01 pm it appears to be eclipsed about 10%.

Whatever you do, DO NOT look directly at the eclipse. You'll ruin your eyes.

That is a solar eclipse Chaz. This is a lunar eclipse. They are benign..

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/04/140410-lunar-eclipse-blood-moon-space-viewing-guide/

Unlike solar eclipses, lunar ones are safely visible to the unaided eye. (A solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes between the Earth and the sun and blocks the disk of the sun.) (Related: "How to Safely Watch a Solar Eclipse.")

but perhaps you were just joking. My antenna is not working very well tonight. :-)

32 degrees, cloudless skies and zero wind here. Perfect. Watching in the telescope. I really need to invest in a decent camera some day. It's about half eclipsed now.

I was awakened by a poor squealing probably raccoon or opossum being cornered a while ago and now wide awake, so....went out to look but either it is so eclipsed it is covered, or the clouds are obscuring it.

I got a few pics of orange moon with two white stars/planets nearby. Experimented with 800 to 3200 ISO using 16x optical zoom on a point and shoot, mini tripod on the car in the driveway to stabilize. Will post up tomorrow.

Nice shots everyone! Fun to see so many people up late/early to see the eclipse. I've never seen one before, so it was pretty cool for me.

Kinda bummed that Ed had clouds, was hoping for several super epic shots from him - that one shot is really nice though. Mouse's series is pretty damn spectacular!

you can never rule out the possibility that weather will be uncooperative. my experience is that you should take very opportunity you have for a great shot, those conditions may never recur....

nice shot altiboo!

a cold atmosphere is very good for "seeing" and being up 5000' helps too, warm and near the coast not so good.

and Chaz's images always amaze me...

good work all! it was fun for sure.

I was getting my shots from inside the corral, because that was a good dark place, so I had a goat chewing on my pant leg the whole time.

Awesome photos.
And thanks for including Spica and Mars. The cherries on the top of the cake.
It was a beautiful threesome from here at 2900 feet in the Santa Cruz mtns. Too bad all I have for a camera these days is my iPhone.
If you looked to the west, there were also the triplet of Castor, Pollux and Jupiter. They've been hanging out together for about a week. They'll be there again tonight.

No eclipse, but the moon right now is pretty respectable in the beauty department.

Early a.m. today, 4-15, at 5:47, the moon was so bright shining in my french windows it actually woke me up. Love the beauty of our planet and even more, taking the time to enjoy it.

Cheers All, lynnie
