From Jeff's Facebook page this afternoon....

"Prayers for Jeff Lowe today! Many of you know that Jeff was in the hospital for a week with Pneumonia and blood clots in late January. Today he is feeling poorly and we are watching him like hawks. The hospice team was here this morning and the doc will come on Thursday unless he gets worse before then. Please send all your love and prayers Jeff's way - we need to keep him out of harms way with clear lungs and easy breathing! Thanks everyone!"

One of my all time heroes. If you've ever tied in or swung a ice tool, you know who he is and you owe him a debt of gratitude, for he expanded the realm of the possible so it could include mortals like us. Please send Jeff your good thoughts, prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery. Thanks so much!

Jeff once went out of his way to show some real kindness to me when there was absolutely nothing in it for him. I just wish there was something beyond sending good thoughts that I could do now to repay that act of support.

Thank you all, my friends, for your kind thoughts and good wishes! Yesterday and today have been somewhat challenging, as I feel the onset of another bout of pneumonia, with congestion and difficulty taking a breath. Drinking lots of water and taking guiafenesen has helped me to cough up some of the gunk in my lungs. Tonight I'm feeling a little better. Hopefully, the clearing trend will continue and I won't have to go back on IV antibiotics in the hospital. We'll make the call on Thursday, with the Dr.

Now for the good news! I have lived to witness the coming of the new generation of Spirit-Climbers. I'm speaking, of course, of Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell and the Fitzroy Traverse. I am inspired by their brilliance and vision. ALPINISIM lives on. I am a happy man.

Thank you, Tommy and Alex!

From Jeff, I have only seen the positive. It sounds like it comes from a deep well, which many have drawn from, but will surely be replenished.

Good vibes, Jeff. A few years ago I was hoping to get on your route "A Fine Line" at Elephant's Perch. Maybe I'm over the hill for that now, but it and some of your other routes remain an inspiration.

Steve Arsenault, I would suggest you HAVE met Jeff Lowe, actually. He was in Camp Four the same time you were around, 1970-1972ish. They were new to the Valley and weren't too visible at that point but he and I remember each other from then.

Update from Jeff's Facebook page...

Thank you for all the love and prayers, good vibes and well wishes! Jeff is doing better today. Jeff had recovered fully from his pneumonia after getting home from the hospital. Clear lungs for the last few weeks until yesterday... hence the request for prayers. All the love seems to be working - that and a care package from Pam Ranger Roberts and a very fancy recliner from Teri Ebel and her husband. Jeff slept in his wheelchair last night, so this will be a big improvement. He needs to be upright so he can breath better, at least for now. The doc comes tomorrow and we'll know more. In the meantime, doing all we can to get him better and not let this turn into pneumonia. We are also looking for caregivers to help us out. I have reached the limit of what I can do on my own. If you know of anyone who would like to help us out with some evenings from 8-10pm with helping Jeff get to bed, some range of motion for Jeff some household chores and whatever else we might need to help us keep this show rolling along, please message or call me. Volunteers are also welcome for hanging with Jeff for a few hours at a time. No technical or medical skills required. I can train anyone to do what needs to be done if they are strong of body, mind and heart and ok with Jeff not talking. It wears him out. Of course, previous caregiving or med training a plus. We can't pay much - $12 per hour. Must live close by so a 2 hour shift is reasonable. An occasional overnight would also be helpful so I can get some sleep. References required unless we know you - haha! Come and have some fun with us!
