Daniel Patrick Nay Memorial

To all those who have posted their memories and condolences, Pat's family would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The outpouring of love and grief and help has been wonderful and comforting. This outpouring has been in and of itself a testimony to the important role that Pat played in the lives of so many people.

Please try to join us on Saturday January 11th at 1:00 for a memorial for Pat followed by a celebration of things and people he loved with drink, companionship and a coming together of the many different circles of friends that made Pat who he was and so dear to us all.

We will be celebrating Pat at Farnsworth Park Amphitheater at 1:00 followed by a gathering of friends at the adjacent Davies Hall until 6:00. Farnsworth Park is near the very top of Lake Avenue in Altadena and a beautiful setting for a soul who spent as much of his life outdoors as he could manage.

Please visit the evite site at http://www.evite.com/event/0300PEOWAUMZVQV5UEPDLX2IH6ARXA - if you can add your name and rsvp or send me an email at mnay58@gmail.com that would be terrific. For those that tried to send me emails at my hntb address that was deactivated on 12/16/13 as I have left that company. I appologize for any difficulties in communications due to this.

Thank you all for being such an important part of Pat's life and help us all celebrate his memory the right way.

I can be reached at 213-220-3508 cell, 626-794-4765 Home

This is from Pat's brother and he ask that I post it here.
Hope this works for everyone. Please try to attend, his family wants everyone to.
Peace

Heartbreaking. I see that pic of Walter and I remember how torn up Pat was.
I still just can't understand this.
Wish I could be there.

T2 , keep it, I keep all my buds contacts that pass as a reminder. Still have Bachar's number in my contacts. Had dinner with his Dad last weekend, we both welled up in tears from time to time talking about John and his friends. Life's pass, spirits don't.

Come on Man! Hey Kerwin, I offer up my place and unlimited treatments this weekend, if you make it down. You were a staple part of the crew back then. Hope you feel better, I got limited sleep as well, but self inflicted....had Jonny Woodward and Lynne Leichtfuss for dinner last night and we couldn't stop talking. If you change yer mind, my offer stands. Well it's always open for you!
Peace

I had planned on attending Pat's Memorial, but my family is giving my Dad his 88th Birthday Party tomorrow.

As we all remember Pat and his life I remind myself to Celebrate Life! Like I did last night. Taking time to Enjoy my friends while we are all still together on this planet. We remember our friends and community when they leave this mortal earth, but perhaps a greater gift is to enjoy today with them. jess sayin'....lynnie

Thank you Mark, Shelley, Joan, Dan, Daniel, and Andrew Nay,
for making Pat's Memorial so perfect!

Mark, Pat's brothers eulogy was beautiful, heartfelt and accurately portrayed all of Pats diverse interests and feelings.

I was so happy to be there surrounded by all the people who loved Pat!
The location, food and of course beer, for the celebration was a fantastic blend of old Germany and the Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite, both of which were near and dear to Pat.

We dropped by Pat's house after the memorial and saw his dog Nicky and she seemed quite happy. I'm sure that would make Pat extremely happy too.

I am so saddened that Pat is no longer with us but so glad he had such a rich and full life full of great friends and family who loved him so much!

Thank you to Pat's family and friends for making his celebration of life so rich, meaningful and fun!

I'm sorry I missed Pat's memorial service due to my late arrival and prior committments.

The Davies Hall was a nice setting for the after party. As Karen said it reminded me of the Ahwahnee Hotel.

It was great to catch up with old friends and share memories of Pat and of the BITD climbing world. It was also great fun to meet his non-climbing friends and to hang out at Pat's house later.

As Maria said at John Rosendahl's memorial "it's too bad that someone has to die to get us all together."

Love to you all.

DE

ps. Unfortunately I missed 10b, Tony and Ron.

hey there say, all...

had missed seeing this on the 11th, when it was happening, good i happened to see it tonight...

seeing this post, first, i can share, very fast,
as to this, swellymon:

I was fortunate to be asked to speak, and I was happy I made it through without breaking down into tears (was tough towards the end).

and to what you wrote... a huge testimony... added to so many others,
let's those of us who did not know him, personal, but only through taco, have a full picture of a very special man...

my condolences, again to family and friends...
as you try to move onward without a dear loved one in your midst...
thank you for sharing the memorial on line...

looking sketchy there...

After Dan went to heaven and I was making a new life which included getting back into the climbing community which bitd Dan had been a large part of, Pat was super kind and thoughtful.

Thinking tonight of all our great friends and loved ones that have gone before us.
