Love his Alps contributions but, sadly, many of his Calanques photos would
benefit from being shot at a lower angle.

gud tingi spiki norwegian and not norsk

that "b & w" could mean he's leaving, in norwegian, or that he's coming in, in norsk

or what?

of course...

he's gone out to count the appreciation threads in the sky, which appear as stars

we are all stars here on the STar showcase

we should all have an appreciation thread

appreciation is not ass-kissing, just showing a person's worth or appreciation can be simple recognition

i would never appreciate some of you on the street, although as posters i may think you are all that and then some

I know Marlow
via internet
Virtually
everyone here does as well
it's hard to know anyone
online or in life's 'reality'

I know Marlow
makes up lists
Really
everyone's on there who's cool
there's little to know
in life or online that's not on someone's list

this list sings of ourselves
Marlow is one of the elves
who Santa sent down from the Pole
to help us keep flesh on our soul
it's been copied neat
it lists each little feat
every line, every jingle
all goes to Kris Kringle
for whatever reason
each Christmas season
Yep, Marlow's checking up on us
Twice

Vernal mist, Bridal mist
Try to stay offa his sh#t list

Then Jingy - a new sum-up:
Belgium?
sberna - Brazil
Migthy Hiker, Jim Brennan and Tami - Canada. And Riley Wyna?
weschrist. English?
Lasti – Hungary
Norwegian – Intergalactic pathways
Patrick - Ireland
Luca and Stefano - Italy
Jan - Japan
Cheche – Mexico
Netherlands?
Norton – New Mexico
Guido - New Zealand
Poland?
Russia?
Scotland?
Lolli – Sweden
Corniss Chopper – Switzerland and Venus. Fishy - Switzerland.

From other planets:
Crimpergirl and Hankster, Texas
Locker, Uranus - a place where there are long blue flying pluglike objects

Chaz - what is behind California's claim to be it's own nation or planet?

As if there are not TWO Planet Norways. The original being Atlantis.

Planet Norway
Named after the most frostbitten and grim country on this planet: Norway.
On the final day of frost, the Necrowizard will turn earth into Planet Norway.
This means that every single place on this earth will be covered with frost and ice, therefore all lukewarmness or heat will vanish from it, ultimately destroying people like Chris Barnes, Linkin Park, Korn, etc.

Marlow's connection to ST is climbing, curiosity about the world and the way it works and thinking. When the Norwegian climbing website Steepstone was put to rest, Marlow (drifting wood) drifted over to Supertopo, which he found to be the most interesting and alive climbing website on the net. He considered ST not to be an exclusively American or Yosemite website. Marlow once asked if ST was "the home" of Yosemite or American climbers and the question was answered with a "no, though some people would like it to be". In addition to this Marlow's only obvious connection to Supertopo is the internet.

If I have to make a choice between the two alternatives you gave me: "Did you climb in the US, or did you just stumble on the site and start posting" the last alternative is the best, though not a very good one...

Oops, I know Marlow is Norwegian, but for some weird reason i was thinking of my buddy -Lolli and transposed Marlow to the wrong scandinavian country...dang, 50 something year old brain cells..

My best friend in second & third grade immigrated from Oslo to California...On her first day of school, our teacher had her show the class where Oslo and Norway were located on the globe.....

So.. Mr Reilly, please excuse my, staying up late -Christmas Partying- aged brain...

Either way, Marlow is one of my favorite peeps....

I had a Norwegian roommate in graduate school. He was an amazing skier although he didn't climb. His name was "Urine" (I don't think that's the correct way to write it, but that's how he said it should be pronounced). Great sense of humor, that Urine.

Marlow's posts are an important contribution to this site, but his name doesn't sound Norwegian. Sounds more like a 1930s LA detective.

Didn't see this the first time around but happy to appreciate. Murcan climbers have a way of thinking everything happens in Murca (even after folks like the Hubers storm Yosemite). Marlow reminds us, without any sense of deprecation, that there is a very big world of climbing out there and we are just a part of it.

Marlow contributes a great deal to this nuthouse, and some day I hope he tells us more about himself and his outdoor adventures. Maybe I'll see him the next time I'm in Norway.

And, as he comes from the land of Jesperpus (www.jesperpus.no), not far from where my family is from, what more can be said? Omitting his real name that is - which isn't Marlow. Maybe he's a fan of detective/noir fiction, and writes Nordic crime stories?
