I'm just sitting on a fence,
Some people say I got no sense,
But I just want to please you guys,
Hope I never hurt yur eyes,
I'm just sitting on A fence.
--the old Mickstery Man

To those still gazing at and seemingly lost in the rapture of looking at the creche (the power of Donini compells you), there is more bliss to be had by having a signed and blessed Da Brim sent to your door or to your climbing partner's door. Twenty-five dollars, cash, check, or money order.

I'll point up a thing or two about the creche that haven't been mentioned...there is a lot of minute META-MESSAGING going on in the work and many will overlook the details. I envision critical essays on this work will pave the way for more than a few PhDs in the future. Art history is such a booming niche nowadays, it's bound to be even bigger when more eyes start demanding more and more eye candy.

There is at the base of Bevin's photo, a small pewter frame with a booth photo of her half-brother Scott Ruffalo, the skateboard champion and his then-GF, Jennifer or Jen or Jenny. They have FOUR kids now, two cars, two dogs, a cat, and live half-a-mile down the road from where I and my sibs grew up. His mom Liz and her many sibs lived a few houses down from my home on a street intersecting Olive, but I did not know Liz at the time. And I first married Dolores, who lived just ten or twelve houses in the other direction from Scottie's and Jen's with her three sibs. The geographic details alone in this photo are a mine of facts just waiting to be discovered by delving Grads. The painting is a ficitonalized version of Yosemite Valley.

The painting is, obviously, a copy of a Bierstadt. Now that's gotta be an art historian's Nirvana, IMO. Deleriously.

And when the supertopo connection between ole topo-neebee and her primitive style and myself with my (?) 'tradition'-in-progress is brought into the mix, the theories of who influenced whom will be good for endless hours of academic debate and acrimony will develop and some careers will take a nose dive into the unemployment line where they may be lucky enough to meet a rock climber trying to assert a claim and ?hen who knows what could develop with that collaboration. Life is a circle and this is a Meta-Message, of course. A DVD is available with more critique and is narrated by Larry Jones, the Professor of the Blues and Yellers, a famous Flame and an artist in his own write. It is twelve fifty, cash, check, or money order. If you purchase the copy of the Blessed DVD, then this other DVD comes with, bear in mind.

Another interesting note:
The rock that T Hocking sits on is a chunk of granite from Tom's Thumb, the crag on Thompson Peak in Plumas NF above Janesville, CA. The spire he is under is a piece of lava rock from Thompson, as is the Grand Needle which Jaybro has free-soloed. He got stuck up there, too. It was not possible to down climb for him, though Gene managed most of it before he jumped! When the GN toppled, it was quite the scene. I'm just glad the new glass pane in the window behind the painting was not broken as it had been installed just that day! Whew!

"There is no meaning to the rock itself with no comparison to the rest of one's life. "--Donini

See, art history is an easy game. Just use your imagination. People will buy anything if it's put out there by someone with initials after their name. Art fakers know this and use the ruse all the time.

Visualize, art haters, all that you're missing by not sitting quietly and grooving inner-ly on the Donini Vibe? Custom-framed copies of the Donini Vibe Depiction, or DVD as it is becoming known, are to be had from me for Three Hundred Fifty Dollars, cash, check, or money order.

Look, I'm also going to be working on these prominent dudes' creches, all of whom are followers of the Way of Donini, if interest in this little proj keeps up: Whitey, Phil Bircheff, Werner, and CMac. But I haven't talked to them yet. But I never spoke to the Doh about this effort, either, so WTF. I'm gonna be taking subscriptions on the three mentioned above, OK? The subscription rates will be much less than paying for one later on, when the art dealers get their hands on some, so get in at the base of the climb, as it were. PM me with your subscription when you have the money. Sorry, we never take credit cards or PayPal. Just ain't enough business to bother with those. Again, cash, check, or money orders only.

For those who don't know me, I don't own a leisure suit, drive a late-model Caddy, and have no TV show, radio hour, or book on the market. I'm just a simple man honoring another climber who needs more appreciation than he's getting.

But Merry Chossmas, my man! It's only a game and I'm not paid for being a fan. Nofence around here.

Thanks, and "It's only a game" is so true. I was nervous about messing with your vision, and I'm still not sure that's right, but it was fun. I'm smarting from and interaction with a friend and Arsenal fan when I said that, although I was rooting for Arsenal in general, I liked Tottenham Hotspur's icon (cool rooster on a ball). OMG, you would have though I was promoting the clubbing of baby seals and all the holocausts.

Mimi, I have a soft spot for the Saints. But we have one (woman) friend who sometimes watches their games at our house and who takes them seriously beyond my comprehension.

Merry Chossmas y'all. Here's our "family" card that we send out, so have at it. It's inspired by one of us turning 64 this coming year and Sgt. Pepper's "When I'm 64"

Your cats can't be that old, now can they? But before (B4) I'd say either of you look younger than that, or Faux Paw, I'd rather go out clubbing baby diamondbacks.
The HORROR!

Meanwhile, on the home front, hoping Bevin visits over the holidays, Miss Melanie Melonsugar is in love or lust. At HER age, you would think she would know that these military guys are mostly good ones, but some are shifty and worthless. But that's just the same as the general population.
I should leave them alone...they are adult toys.

Happy Festivus!

they are from SeatHell, and they wouldn't say no to a freshly-caught mouse.

OK... I won't hold that against you. I was born and raised in the PNW. I've been a 'Hawk fan since June 4, 1974 (the day the NFL announced they were giving Seattle an expansion franchise). Anyway... I have nothing against mouses but apparently that fictional bird does ;). And yeah.. the weather up there blows.

Oh, I've got nothing against Seattle, really, except the weather. But I rather think it blows, like most bad weather, the wind and all.

It all depends on where you stand, like in the Toffler Effect, meaning gooey on one end, hardening if you pull it out in strings.

Caramhell, CA., is a much better place if one wants sea and mountains. And there's Clint's restaurant, round the back there.

I lived in Tacomahell for 18 years. I like Seattle as a city. 3 months out of the year it isn't bad. Plus it has Mashiko, Wayno, Mimi, Grossman, and Ghost.

Mouse, sir:
I think you may have read Spider Robinson?

Toeffler? Futurists? Strings?

It is a rhetorical and perhaps redundant question, but what are you smoking? None the less, I agree, it does depend on where one stands. The perspective of the observer shifts the perception, naturally. A whole other discussion.

Merry Christmas, Happiest of Solstices ever, and here's to trigonometry and Hipparchus, that wily old Turk. My cousins and I long posited that he might have been one of the Wise Men, but later learned he was a tad earlier in the Human Race. I always thought he was related to Hypatia, though.

Toeffler? The future is what we posit it to be, and so our perspective is a significant factor. Perhaps more than we know.

I am having too much fun, being a convalescing Christmas elf, just nattering for my own amusement, making words here on my laptop as I watch the snow falling and the Divide being obscured as clouds slowly spill over into the valley. Footage follows after sunset.

I hope we are each having great celebrations of our own design and amusement. I am baking bread and keeping the fire going, and reading the archaeology of Inner Mongolia.

Thank you for the great sharings, laughter, entertainment, and smiles, Topo Tribe. Thank you Sir Mouse.
(I am reminded of Narnia.)

I was smoking lucky mota strikes dusky dragon, apparently.

I took myself out of the building, physically placing me north and east of Middle Earth.

The distance doesn't matter, I've taken you all to this spot before.

So I dashed out G Grade to Padillaland on G Grade and stopped on the shoulder so I could freak out drivers. It's fun, you should try it. I know a lot do it regularly.

I'll save neebee the trouble of a lecture or rather, and admonishment. A gentle poke and a plea for not doing stupid things is what I'm entitled to, but she's far too busy to post. I'm still standing here and nobody comes that close and it's freaky when they shout or honk.
Roadside ditch.
Number two is better. Same shot, different monitor resolution. Hmmm...

edit: glad you're here, Ilollo, as we have had lots of visitors lately. Enjoy the open house.

Mouse, sir,
I merely meant that your leaps of thought were quite gymnastic, and also highly educational, as I had to go read up a bit on Toeffler to get the joke, so consider that rhetorical question a compliment. I sometimes think Doug did his best thinking when he was surrounded by a cloud of smoke. :) And then he married this totally straight, not even a drinker female and taught her bad habits like wine and cigars and stuff. :)

Nonetheless, you have a very limber mind, and I enjoy reading your words. Thank you. I like your hawk. I had a gyrfalcon, erupted down from the Arctic, here Monday, and a report of another only 60 miles away south along the Divide. One of my favorite birds.

I'm with neebs: stay outta traffic, please.

Happy photoing, birding, and Solstice.

hey there say, mouse...

here i am, back on traffic duty...
doing my 'mommy job' for kids and the street, and warning them,
to keep out of harms way, just comes
natural...

GOOD thing feralfea stepped in to DOUBLE that warning...

been catching up loose paintings around here, now that cards
are done...

hoping to get the 'last ends' of about two more, done tonight
acrylics... then, tomorrow, on to the three oils, and then, wow,
three more oils, later as well...

HOPE the family of yours DOES get over to see you:

would be nice..
and--as well, for the mice...
perhaps you could have rice...
would it suffice?...

though, please do NOT add ice...
*heed my advice...
instead, try apples, by slice...
and after the meal, twice,
play DICE!...

with low, stakes, the price...
as,'tis wrong to entice! ...
to a gambling vice...

ahh, yes, hope they come--will be an evening
full of spunk and spice!

got to go do chores, now... :)
not choss... ;)

and, a hey there to feralfae!
as with these mice, we do all play!

I dumped so many sunset shots tonight, after using a lot of settings, experimenting, but got a learning experience.
The days of the year are going to be getting longer and my life is getting shorter. Like a joint being smoked.
I used to experiment with many drugs as a younker. I guess I found what works for me works for many, many.
Somber thoughts on the side of the road courting death and shooting dying leaves and darkening scenes.
December, when there are children to think of.

Yes, nature is the very best high.
I love that I live out here in the middle of the boonies.
More cows, deer, elk, and antelope than humans.
Have a great evening, and thank you for the sunset shots.

Donini,

It, this, the Super Creche is meant to give some meaning to our season of Christmas.

Forgive a boy for trespassing on your property. No harm is intended, you got skin like any other man, and if you may have taken offense at some of this, it's all in good fun and for some sort of reason, not to make you or anyone else look the fool.

We are mostly a lot of fools on the subject of Christ. Paul the Apostle is known as having called himself a fool for the man.

What cryptic intent is meant by that phrase is up to the individual. I have lately turned to a gentler part of me and I hope that it shows. The role of Donini is an important one here, as you are a leader, but you are still human, so please, don't say a thing unless you are really pissed, then I invite an email.

The calling out of a challenge is complicated. Since you would be the man who is offended, you would need to challenge me.

I warn you, my choice of weapons will be throwing rocks, about the size of a softball, and the range, let's make that from Colorado's western border to Stateline, at Tahoe. I am warning you, I have the range, etc., but don't expect any return fire for a while.

Going to bed to wait for the reply.

Paging and possibly outraging Mr. Donini.

Piece of halibut, part of the deal.

See Hawks lose. Howard nominated for Sgt. York, can't pass muster.

Chieves lose. But it's no news that it's "Chiefs."

Sheep lose to (take your pick) lying shepherds in As-They-Lay Fields.

Angels sign Sweetly.

"We almost died up there."--Kim Schmitz following an Aquarian epi-soak with the Bird in '71

Jeff the Rev and I hit Reinero's and drank under the antlers of the dead.

I drank Bud. He drank O'Cools. I played the willing fool's

Role; and with the click of the dice they heard the mice

Telling of the old school's

Selling of the mountains.

Which didn't amount to much but me maundering and mousing off

But the Rev hilaritized and I got all sanctified and teary

Even though the Angry Orchard was beery.

It's called Fireball.
