Hey, there, say...

Thought I would post up a thread for the "softer" side, since there seems to be so many hard lines being taken.

It would be nice if the banter was lighter here, a place to really "feel" and "genuinely explore" the more balanced male energy.

Ever felt sympathy pains for your partner? Crazy! It's not the first time.

I really do try to pick up some of the more feminine roles, too!

Trying not to just be this "hard" man that buys into the traditional roles!

I know I am not alone, just trying to reach out here.

Because of plummeting testosterone levels due to normal aging you are in for lots of chamomile , group hugs, and night courses in crocheting.
The more you allow your body to resemble a pear instead of an apple the closer you will get to a peach.
A weight training instead of a crochet course would be the prescription here. Of course your plant holders won't look as good...

SNAG's sounds like a bunch of sexist dopes.

Some guy trying to relate by "acting" more feminine and softer in order to portray and feel sympathy for the other sex. Stop over thinking it and just remember to listen when they are talking, fix things they want fixed, take out the trash, put the toilet seat down, buy them flowers just because it's Tuesday and stop trying so hard to break gender roles.

Most of the chicks I know would eat the more sensitive guys on this site for breakfast then pick their teeth with the bones. They don't bvllchit around, they are direct, get what they want and don't play that girly girl card and would rather have a guy, be a guy. Scratch your nuts and tell her she is beautiful, not necessarily in that order.

Seriously though, I always admired this uncle of mine who was quick with the snide remark, the joke at your or someone else's expense. In general a real prickly exterior. But, on the inside, this guy has a heart of gold, a true saint. He refused to allow my grandmother (his aunt) to be put into a nursing home and put her up in his own house, along with his own mother, for several years before she finally passed.

Dude is entitled to a few crass remarks now and then . . .

Man up - how funny.

The best & hardest fighters I've ever seen were the kindest most compassionate men around.

Look up Pat Johnson, he made Chuck Norris famous.
Was a good friend to Bruce Lee.
Couldn't stand to see people in pain. But if that's what you wanted he could put you there faster than anyone.
On the other hand he would help you anyway he could if you needed it.

For the sake of argument...I'll say 1978 was the Year of The Great Decline when men first began being ensnared in the miasma known as "Finding your Feminine Side".

Jump forward to today when we have Presidents who can't make a decision, Congressmen that can only stomp their feet and say "No" to everything, studies showing that average penis length is decreasing, studies showing delayed puberty for boys while girls are maturing earlier than ever.

Hell, men are even watching "Dancing with the Stars"!

Thirty plus years of learning to be sensitive combined with that damn estrogen laden soy that fills every food product we eat and it's only a matter of a few more years before men will actually look like a Ken doll.

Excuse me while I go pee in the yard.

the new age thing was all about wish fulfillment and fantasy, along with supposedly channeled information from "higher" spiritual beings. if i just visualize this or that and repeat these affirmations i can get anything i want. people made their careers off of this nonsense, and i guess they still do just in smaller numbers. the idea that "higher" spiritual beings have much meaningful to say about life on earth, where you have to get your hands dirty to get along is highly doubtful.

Dudes!
The spectrum from SNAG to being a total harda** leaves lots of room in between.

Doug was, as some of you know, a totally kick-a** climber and rabble rouser. In the appropriate settings and circumstances, he was also the most loving and tender guy to have for a husband, lover, and team mate in mind playing, not to mention honest and just a super all-round man. But there is no doubt he was still the Captain of our ship, and I was the science officer and flower-arranger. :) Step up to the responsibilities, sure, but also enjoy the flowers, please.

We are not all the same. Actually, no two of us are the same, each of us is unique. Camomile or that icky stuff from Scandanavia some of you drink (Jagermeister??) . . . it is all fine. Tea type does not define anyone. Lighten up and be who you are, honestly, and be happy with yourself. And do not let women terrorize or intimidate you, because that is not the road to a good life. And women, do not let men terrorize or intimidate you either. Find some balance, please.

You are all such great guys, and although I often laugh at the antics here, I have found most of you rock jocks to be truly decent and good people, so thanks for that. {{{hugs}}} I am not a guy, and not a Snag, just a femme who likes rocks and boulders, and most guys, no matter if they are SNAGs or HardA**es. :) Just so they have integrity a sense of humor.

Okay, now go do something remarkable and unique, create some beauty or at least a good story, and don't forget to laugh at the park patrol trolls trolling for your cash.

Peace,
and also {{{hugs}}}

if i just visualize this or that and repeat these affirmations i can get anything i want.--from Binks

Back in the seriously silly seventies the North Facers were intimidated into approaching the theory of actualization, the highest of the levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

"As Abraham Maslow noted, the basic needs of humans must be met (e.g. food, shelter, warmth, security, sense of belongingness etc.) before a person can achieve self-actualization - the need to be good, to be fully alive and to find meaning in life. Research shows that when people live lives that are different from their true nature and capabilities, they are less likely to be happy than those whose goals and lives match. For example, someone who has inherent potential to be a great artist or teacher may never realize his/her talents if their energy is focused on attaining the basic needs of humans."---Wiki

So what the elfin person from the forest says is true about the desiderata of the New Age Guy. It shows we are basically good, and we AIN'T GONNA DIE till we find some meaning in life, or die trying.

Or take a grounder

Or ale, if you prefer.

Just don't offer me herbal tea.
It affects my aura horribly.
Chamomile or sassafrass,
STick them both up your...

This prairie fire of attitude adjustment in The North Face happened as a direct result in our company's involvement in THE NEW AGE EXPOSITION in San Francisco. We had to sell the new age-y dome tent which Bruce and Bruce had designed, the Oval Intention. We sold thousands upon thousands, so that might have helped to have that booth in there at the hall.

I went with my spouse and I came away stunned at all the BS! I thought living in Berkeley was super-cool, but that New Age iceberg reaches depths you can't believe!

If you're not organic, please leave.

Fact.

Alpha males - if they get into relationship with a female that last more than one nanosecond - end up choosing an alpha female.

Then, the battle between two alphas ensues. Who is the alpha within the relationship?

The typical resolution that actually leads to the net greatest happiness is what?

That's right. The alpha male wants to be a beta in his relationship with his woman. And she - being an alpha - is ready and able to do the job.

Just saying.

If you don't believe me, look around. Is Largo the alpha in his relationship? I don't even know the guy but have read a few posts wherein he reflects on his domestic life. To his credit and happiness, he is dominated by women in his domestic life. And every alpha male who is lonely should see and learn. I say, bliss is better than head games and stories of illusory masculine superiority.

Other examples abound.

And you can't get anywhere slandering me for I will cop to the truth before the indictment arrives. I am a lonely old, alpha who is willing to trade it in for a great woman who shows me love and appreciation. Either way - solo or attached - I will continue to rock climb and strive to get better. And take abuse from you'all on ST when I speak up for the truth as I see it.

Why thank you Mr. Wizard! That was easier than I thought! lol.

So, for discussions sake: What are the determinants that makes one an "alpha male or female"? This has always been a mystery to me??

A Big Johnson or Big Boobs/Vajayjay? A Big Attitude? A little of both? Is it environmental or genetics?? i.e. Nature vs. Nurture? I'm serial here...

I think it's environmental..or learned behavior. But, maybe it's genetic too?? Or a combo of each...I dunno, I'm very confused!!!

Ron...it's a misnomer to say that alpha females or feminists, for example, want a "penis" or have "penis envy".

They want the "phallus". They seek or want the "power", i.e. the "phallus" that men inherently have in our culture/world by virtue of their gender. There's a big difference...

I don't think "alpha" necessarily is analogous to having a "penis"?? I could be wrong..

Ron: I won't attempt to answer your questions above.

You will never understand that being alpha has nothing to do with the sex organs of birth and everything to do with personality.

Me and Ed Hartouni have done yoga together, multiple times. And bouldered in the gym too. If anyone thought we are hard core, please drop that assumption.

When I don't climb, I take pictures of cute baby goats.

Bring toys along on climbs.

Make my female partners carry all the gear!

Take photos of pretty flowers!

And make snowmen!

Also I hang dog the sh#t out of routes Bachar has solo downclimbed (Expressway at the Gorge for example).

Who want's to climb?!

Bouldering really is a great way to get in touch with your sensitive side.

You sure all you did was take pictures? That one looks pretty shaken up.

I have to confirm that... and aside from bone, my core is not hard...

I'm not into goats, but I do shoot flowers...

I threatened a dude at JTree yesterday with a beatdown, but I did it with a smile on my lips.
That's kinda sensitive, isn't it?

Every day I do a "bar class" with a roomful of ladies. I'm flexing all different glutes I didn't even know I had. I get all trembly in my inner thighs. And I squeeze that pink ball between my legs like there's no tomorrow.

I'd consider myself a remedial student at best- my quads are pathetically incapable of the baseline exercises, and my lack of flexibility is laughable. But ya gotta start somewhere.
