one of the great benefits of participating in the FaceLift is the time to just walk around the Valley and see the sights...

Boodawg and Lisa were looking for this plaque, which we found without too much trouble:

"TO COMMEMORATE
DR. LAFAYETTE HOUGHTON BUNNELL
ONE OF THE FIRST PARTY OF WHITE MEN
TO ENTER THE YOSEMITE VALLEY
IN MARCH 1851 -
HE PROPOSED THE NAME
YOSEMITE
AND WAS THE FIRST
TO PROCLAIM ITS
BEAUTY AND WONDERS
TO THE WORLD

DEDICATED
BY THE CALIFORNIA
MEDICAL
ASSOCIATION
1925 A.D."

Yeah, I like how it's hidden, near the old road. Mad Bolter took me there years ago and explained the place for me. He is full of interesting facts.

walking to the evening's events in the East Aud. from Yellow Pines c.g.
a better way to go then risking a drive after the event and being pulled over for "suspicion of being a climber"

+ 100..
I love checking out the arc. sights that are exposed from the 1997 flood. So many beautiful and colorful glass bottle pieces, china, and tin to examine...also cool to see the formed hard packed layers of sedimentary trash from the late 1800's- 1940's.

Apres-Campfire Dues

The log flames are yellow-greenish.
4 we have no blues at Yellow Pines.
Recumbent coals glow *INCANDESCENT,*
Pulsing red like flashing signs.

Snoring sleepers fill this campground.
One saws his bass notes loud and clear.
Recumbent tenor is *INTERMITTENT,*
Snorting and wheezing and too damned near!

It’s left to me to quell the blaze,
Spread out the coals and remnants of the log.
I finish that, then BLAZE ONE myself,
And walk off in a fog.

G’night.

Greg Lee and Mr. T.R., whose snories never tore you.

A typical Tom Rhorer joke goes something like the one I heard today from an
old hand at Facelift volunteering, who also said that, if his wife knew how much fun he had at Yoseinte Facelift, she would ATTEMPT to forbid him from attending.

"Why is sex in a canoe like Coors beer?"

Everybody knows that they both are next to water.

Ed, you take great photographs.

Hopefully I will make the facelift . It would be nice to meet all the folks, listen to the music (esp. rockin' reid) and walk in the valley.

Thanks for all the pictures.

Anastasia,

I thought you were an amazing camper! You even appeared to be a happy camper when you left on Sunday. You're my hero--patience of a saint! (And don't worry, Aris is cute, too!) Glad you guys made it home ok and it was nice to meet you.

The Sunday gig at the East Auditorium started with dinner, went to the raffle, then dancing. I headed back to Yellow Pines, got tooled on the way, let go with a handshake, and then proceeded to do my partying. I blew a .01, just so you know the truth. I don't want any rumors spreading about my behavior.

Hey mouse! The unidentified celebrant is Trundlebum. He has a great singing voice and was doing Bonnie Raitt proud. His niece came up to me and asked if her uncle could jam with us. I really liked his style.

EDIT ecxellent photo of our saturday jam, Paul Martzen. Not sure if we met but I'd like to share that photo with my jamming buddies, Rick and Annie Cashner if that's ok with you.

EDIT EDIT. mouse blew .01! Better than blowin' chunks.
