My # favorite band, this music was/is an inspiration for many many days on the rocks and first ascents...
I finally got to see the original line up in September with an old friend....
Their new album (13) is amazing..
post up your favorites...
What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick, and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one
Oh no
Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan's sitting there, he's smiling
Watches those flames get higher and higher
Oh no, no, please God help me
Is it the end, my friend?
Satan's coming 'round the bend
people running 'cause they're scared
The people better go and beware
No, no, please, no

My phone battery died as we entered the sports arena or I'd have some nice shots from the sixth row.
It's ok, there's no way to transform the band's energy in pictures.
Sabbath forever ! ! !

Worst acid trip of my life (actually the only bad one) circ. 1976/77 Madison Square Gardens Black Sabbath + Aerosmith.
Brown blotter bought outside the doors(should have know but as at 17 I was a bit stubborn).
Long story.
Anyway, every time I hear them I think back to those dazes. Not necessarily with regret but more with wonder of surviving it all.
Funny thing too as I was so into bluegrass at the time, I'd seen David Bromberg just the previous week and though he's not BG the range of music I was listening to was as wide as it remains today.
Aerosmith sucks but I still don't mind a little BS every once in awhile.

Okay, so what's the most rocking song on new album? I have been disappointed with what I've heard so far on XM.
In 3rd grade I rode my bike to the local head shop and spent my meager savings on Paranoid. It was my first album purchase and horrified my parents. Sabbath remains the greatest metal band of all time.

My parents just purchased a new turntable and allowed me to purchase my first album. I chose Black Sabbath Paranoid. This was in 1978 and I was 14 years old. I played the sh#t out of that album! SABBATH RULES!
