Straight outta Poldark! This copper/tin mine was already working when it was mentioned in 1721! The shaft goes straight down and the adits go out under the sea floor!

This is the very mine used in Poldark.

This is the Levant, the baddest badness of them all. Its shaft went down 1800' and adits go out under the sea for 1.3 MILES!

Wreck of the barque Peter Iredale.

( two wrecks in one shot )

A four-masted, iron and steel cargo carrier, the Peter Iredale set sail from Salina Cruz, Mexico empty after unloading its cargo of sacked wheat in late September of 1906, bound for Portland, Oregon.

As of October 26th of that year, it had made it exactly this far. Just a couple miles south of the mouth of the Columbia River, it ran aground on this Oregon beach. It's been here ever since.

No death or serious injury was reported. It appears as if the crew all lived to sail another day. The ship itself was not as lucky as its crew, however. It never sailed again. And here it sits.

BTW, the HMS Mary Rose sank in 1545, not 1745.
