^^^ Mice Mouse! I mean, Nice Mouse!!

"You have heard that it was said, you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."
But I Jesus say to you, "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brother only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Mat. 5:43

Meditate on this scripture.. Try to visualize the outcomes if you had this kind of Love in ur heart.

Always follow your heart, not your head.

Ask yourself:
-Can I live without her?
-Is there anything she can do that I cannot forgive?

If you answered "No" to both - that's love. Real.

He just shakes his head now - all I have to do is use the words "trip report" and he rolls his eyes and continues about his business. I suppose that's love, too.

Love is a steel guitar
Love is a battle scar
Love is a morning song

Love is your blue suede shoes
Love is a heart abused
Love is a mind confused

And love is the pleasures I'm told
And for some love is still a band of gold
My love has no reason, has no rhyme
My love cross the double line
Love is a mine of gold
Love is a man to hold
Love is a drowning soul
Love is it's own reward

And love is the pleasures I'm told
And for some love is still a band of gold

Love is my attitude today.

Jumping off of a large ledge into water, all alone, just because I wanted to.

Love is having a voicemail when I returned to go for a hike.

Five minute turnaround and I'm out the door with one of my dogs.

Making new friends while hiking and appreciating nature.

Random swimming while my new friends watch and think I'm crazy or weird.

Beers afterwards at my beach and laughs about the good times had.

Love is such an all encompassing term.

Love is living life.

Speaking easily of love to myself, I just now wrote this. I'll share it willingly here. This is a super thread.

How I staggered through wife like a drunken man, living to tell of it in spite of myself

It makes no difference now to me that my life is fail-filled, for there is nothing regret may fix.

The high-spots are many but for each summit, whether a plateau like a marriage or an actual summit, there is always—yes, ALWAYS--a slope to descend on the other side, since you can’t remain without help and that is what screws me up with chagrin, if not bitterness in some cases.

I was kicked out of the womb by my mother, to begin with, for example.

You don’t want to hear the rest: this is reaction, no history test.

A marriage is a team effort, and it’s supposed to work well if both shoulder their burden, now and again one taking some of the load from the other, sharing the work.

If one fails to do one’s share, both fail by default.

There is no magic amazing cure-all for lazy.

You have to LIVE love to express it, and it is hard going sometimes (may you reach the end together).

You have to WANT to love, but that’s not enough (may you make the right choices together).

You must LEARN to love, before it is too late (may your children benefit from your example).

I’ve said enough, that’s all I have to offer.

You may think otherwise, and I hope you won’t share my fate.

But it’s lonely being lonely.

Remember that I told you so when you have become like me.

Love is a two way street, it took me a long time to figure that one out. At least in my case, I've found that both sides have to be willing to give stuff up.

It's kind of like the wood that needs to be cut out to make a tight fitting dove-tail joint, you've got to cut some parts out of both sides to make a strong bonding fit.

This is something I wrote for my impending wedding ceremony:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” That is from the Bible, Corinthians 13:4-7.

It is easy to love in good times. Loving in difficult times requires some work and planning, removing the obstacles that would hinder your expression of love for one another. As you nurture each other, so must you be aware of your own needs and honor them. Take care of your body and your mind, for yourself and for your partner. Live the life you want to live, to keep your spirit fresh and strong. When your partner stumbles, when their basic loving nature is masked by an unmet need or a source of stress is overwhelming, you will have the strength to remain centered, to be a beacon of love and harmony to which your partner can return. You are not two halves of a whole. You are each whole, and together you form more than two.

For the sake of the ceremony, I didn't delve into the philosophical reconciliation of "love is not self-seeking" versus the need to love one's self to increase one's capacity to love others with fewer conditions. I think it's an interesting topic without widespread societal consensus. Lack of consideration on this topic I think is at the core of a lot of negative relationship cycles. Perhaps too much mind in a conversation about the heart. But hey, they can play together and to me, the deepest form of love with another engages not just the heart, but also the mind and body and soul of another.

Charity never faileth." KJV

Mouse - "fear the lord" -- that is intertwined with love and reverence. i'm pretty sure that you loved and revered your father, Boomer. i also believe you feared him in a positive way...respected him.

shortly after i turned seven, i was playing down by the river, took out this old rowboat we found abandoned on the shore and it sunk with me in it. the other kids new how to swim, i didn't. i woke up on my grandmas couch and was to sick to get up from it for over a week. my father told me to stay away from the river.

we moved to new york from cape breton and rented a place across the street from a river. i was told not to go near the river. one day after school i followed a couple friends over to the docks. we were doing some fairly sketchy things (especially for a kid who still didn't know how to swim) but were having a hell of a lot of fun. a street/beat cop ended up taking me home (the other kids lived further away). my dad whipped my ass good. i never went down by the river again. he did it because he loved me. if he didn't care, i would have certainly disobeyed him again. might not be here to share this with you.

god works the same way. he is our heavenly father. i got my assed whipped a few times by him over the years. i had plenty of warnings. he is very patient. i'm also glad that he did. i am pretty certain that i wouldn't be here if he hadn't.

edit: - "the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge." -- i believe i have become a little wiser over the years fearing god. he warns you through your heart/conscience. i have become wiser, following his word. but we wander*. because if i should not heed my conscious, particularly regarding things i have already been chastised for, i know the eventual outcome.

some people have severed consciences. with many negative outcomes to them, their friends, aquaintences and loved ones and society at large.

you can call your conscience fear i suppose (if i were to call it anything, i would call it love). its a warning, red light, alarm of danger ahead. some consequences are immediate, others play out over time. some will determine where you spend eternity.

*'but we wander' - edited in.

we all encounter stop lights/red lights. we don't fear them. i suppose you could even call them your friend. you start to disobey them. do something that we know we shouldn't be doing. not only our conscience, but the law tells us not to do. and get to running red lights, or maybe just one particular red light. perhaps on a daily basis. you damn well better fear them/it. because sooner, or later it will most likely result in a an unfortunate outcome. you might get a warning. a ticket. second will be a larger ticket. cud eventually end up in jail. maybe you finally learned your lesson. if not, and you get out and continue to run that same red light... well, i think you know of what could tragically happen. heeding that red light, obeying it, would be a wise decision (wisdom).

Sorry to take the punch away from the party but...

Love is a love is construct of the human mind...
Love is just a mixture of neurons firing and chemical reactions happening at the same time....

For most of human history we have lived in very small interdependent groups that cared for and loved each other. Our survival depended on it.
Being able to love more than one person is in our genes and to remain monogamous is truly against our nature. We just have a hard time admitting and accepting that.

bigbird,

Survival may be a construct of the human mind/neurons, chemicals, etc! Sacrifice, self sacrifice, I would say comes from the heart. "Greater love has no one than this, to lay down his life for his friends." And who are our friends? "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." Believer's know that our neighbors are anyone we come in contact with.

Might be easy to say you'd be willing to give your life for someone else. Even someone you didn't even know existed until minutes before. That is what Christ says is the greatest sacrifice of all. Essentially, it is what He is asking of all believers, should they be called to do so. I think someone has to actually be put into that situation to know for sure. I would hope that more believers than nonbelievers would be wiling to do so. To enter harms way on behalf of another. Many people have. But, all people who have been in the situation haven't. Maybe their neurons aren't as evolved, or their chemicals were running lower at the moment than those who did, eh?

edit: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." His spirit is in our heart, and if we're walking with Him, he is in control of the situation. Fear and doubt shouldn't even enter the equation.

Learn how to love yourself first.

Once you get the hang of it, you will be confident enough to love someone else unconditionally...

Truer words have never been spoken. It's coincidental, as I was telling my partner the same thing today. She has anxiety in social situations and my best guess is that she needs to find a way to bolster her self confidence/perception of self.

A commitment for the lifetime simply means your neurons are firing on all cylinders.

Anything less is enjoyable for the moment, at least.

We have free will and if you feel good about spending the rest of your life as a partner then I would suggest trying it.

We are not natural beings any longer, as in the animal world.

We have been set apart from them by our brains. When we say we love nature we are the really odd species simply because we are easily awed and have IMAGINATION, which ants lack, if you ask me.

I imagine that I love you all or do I actually?

Love is a big, encompassing word, isn't it, for a four-letter one?

"I love that picture ^^^ of the word LOVE!"

There just happens to be a Black Hole there.

ever heard of the strong nuclear force?

My bad, admittedly my last physics class was a long time ago, My field of study is technically economics, not physics...

bigbird - someone skipped physics class.
I studied graduate level neurophysiology and neuroanatomy, kinesiology etc, courses. All of my profs had PHD's from either Berkely or Stanford. I doubt they would have let me into the program if I had skipped any of my prerequisite physics courses.

Looks like your the one who has skipped something. Otherwise you have the spiritual knowledge and experience to know that, "All things are possible with God." God's power is manifest in his presence. And when that Presence enters into your life, there are no doubts of what he is capable of. Capable of not only creating 'black holes', but the whole universe.

BTW, "God is Love."

Love created those black holes.

False... Gravitational collapse of stars (sometimes... size dependent) creates black holes...
"Love" in the modern sense is a mostly human construct. The Electrochemical energy released by human brain in the process of creating the emotion of "love" is insignificant in the wider scale of things...

Love is real , real is love
Love is feeling , feeling love
Love is wanting to be loved

Love is touch, touch is love
Love is reaching, reaching love
Love is asking to be loved

Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing

Love is free, free is love
Love is living, living love
