When I think of conservative, I'm mostly thinking in the most basic terms possible: Male, aging, straight, protestant, addicted to power, and most of all, the self-appointed group to which all others are accountable. These have traditionally been the ones with most of the money and who make most all the big policy decisions. Once both the money and power starts slipping from these people's hands, as it is now happening in some states, things can get pretty thorny pretty fast.
At the heart of all this stuff is always a Game of Thrones per money and power, the twin-pillars of white-man hedgemony. But nothing lasts forever.

You really haven't a clue who you are talking about do you?
you are making up your own definition of a group.
Same as the character that defines "blackness" by The Wire.
Time to rethink some of your prejudices.
The insular climate of Venice is every bit as isolated as small town Kansas or "the hood" of multiple ethnicity's.

I had an interesting conversation with my Mom the other day.
Only child of a WW1 Marine vet pushing 80 years on this planet.
She thought conservation was an idyllic life where politicians protected the environment and supported free liberties and commerce. She voted Republican until Carter.
I told her how things have changed and she ended up voting for Obama because she knew through and though voting over the past 70 years that the liberals always win because they represent what is best for society.
She saw the changes in Detroit and the full on turnaround in the south that she helped create, a new country, a new neighborhood, more forgiving, more understanding over the last 40 years and once you set that loose there is no turning back.

Get yourselves out of the two party system. There are lots of as#@&%es everywhere. Standing on one side of the wall and pointing your finger doesn't help fix the problem. We have racism and sexism and general as#@&%e-ism that we nees to work on as one tribe. Two tribes... all we do is bicker and war over nonsense.

I'm with TheTye. Good point. Name calling, divisiveness and believing in only 2 parties is overrated. There's plenty of racism to go around on both sides of the aisle and all parts of the country, but there's less and less of it than when I was young. So tip a cold one back tonight to "Hope".

Yup there Are conservatives who oppose Obama on his policies alone, even though he Is a conservative.
As a conservative ultra liberal, I wish Obama hadn't strayed so Far to the right ( see point-above)
Fries are so 20th century. Grease is best served in onion rings, they actually have flavor.

Can't say about that as you provide no evidence for it but obviously there was a sh#t load of people who voted for the man who spoke the clearest, who was hands down the smartest, and who (most importantly) represented what (where?) they think the direction of the country should be going to get us out of the shithole that the last President had sent us down. That dude HAPPENED to be the dude who had the darker skin.
Seems to me if you want to insult Liberals, and who doesn't, you need a lot more intellectual ammunition than you seem to have.
Hey, can we maybe diss on Muslims now?
