I ended up here for work again, anyone in town and want to show a west coast climber around? Get a beer? Go to the Gunks? Boulder in Central Park (I suck at bouldering)?

I'll probably be here for a few weeks working a lot, but it would be nice to meet up with a local or two!

Bump!

It's such a big scary city, where are the friendly climbers?

This one is just west of Durango, CO right now...(although technically I am no longer a NYC denizen).

Consider posting to Gunks.com - can't hurt. Or think about heading to the Brooklyn Boulders gym and see if you can meet some people there. Surely someone will at least hold your rope on a few climbs...http://www.brooklynboulders.com/

If you go to Central Park when the weather is nice it's likely you'll make some friends.

The bouldering is actually not that hard. NO highballs. Fun and interesting rock.

Talk to Neal Weiss - he posts here as lovegasoline. I'm pretty sure he is still living in NYC.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try my luck wandering around the central park boulders I guess. I didn't have much luck last saturday but I'm not the most outgoing and gregarious guy among strangers in the city.

If anyone here is in NYC and wants to meet up though I'd love to have a spotter or a partner for the gunks on Sunday. Or beer during the week!
