Someone asked if Fred Becky was a stonemaster?

The obvious answer to that is no but he is related to

Fred Flintstone!

I think they're about the same age. Chuckle

Carry on.

Fred’s motivation is truly extraordinary; he stayed with me for several days when he visited Australia in 2010 and here's one of him with Singer Smith.

“Whattttt Singer, you mean I can see college football in this thing? It’s incrrrredible” …..

Fred wanted to shoot a roo and barbeque it. When told we could go to the supermarket and buy some, he binned the idea.

“Forget it, wouldn’t be the same. Where’s the rock around here?”

The photos were great, but I would have loved to have seen video footage, just to see how he actually moves up the rock

The fact remains "He will steal your route and your girlfriend" - it's just that now you are safe above 5.6 on the routes.

Fred is a true lifer.

Fred was great in Boulder. He couldn't hear worth a damn, but gave a great show and went climbing in Eldo the next day. We should all be so lucky.

Good read on your blog there Marsupial Rat, tfpu, gives some good insight into Freds character, that so cool you got to hang out with the man.

Edit:
This part cracked me up.

"I put a top rope on Piccolo, a fun 11 (5.4/5.5), and Fred climbed about 3/4 of it before lowering off. Before he even made it back to the ground, he sat down on a small ledge and fell asleep drooling on the rock for at least 90 minutes while Susy ran some laps on the route and discovered that she likes climbing again."

Back in 1973, David Lunn, Phil Arnot and I did the Becky route on Mt Adams. It was a lot of fun! Thanks Fred!
