I'm not sure why I missed this thread the first time, but a belated happy birthday to you, sir! The Summit magazine containing your "Dihedral Diary" article is one of the first ones I received, and I still have it. That article set the bar rather high for the quality of climbers' writing.

Thanks for the inspiration your articles -- and the stories handed down to us -- gave to me.

Happy Birthday Don! As simple as a story like this is, I hung onto the words many times over so that I could make them my own.

*my new year resolution:
make a bunch of supertopo cakes, and upload a bunch on
someone's birthday thread so they will all be up, and
ready to use for folks, so i don't have to WAIT each
time a birthday shows up and i need one, :)
the will be 'archived' close together... :)

Happy Birthday. 80 is a landmark!

It beckons someone to answer a question concerning the demographics of supertopians, who is the senior member and what is his or her age?

I would imagine the median age would be between 40 and 50; but that is only only a guess.

(I hate to think what the age is of the youngest visitor to this site is; as it might have a profound effect on their mental development.)
