i used to do some gypsy cab operating for sure, drive around Whistler on NY eve & pick up hammered ppl in my truck at the cab loop & at the bus stops & give em a ride wherever for $10, $15 or 20 a head depending. Bus service used to be suspended there from 9-1am on NY for some reason. It was awesome, pick up whoever u want- Make up an arbitrary price based on how your feeling, one year I even bought 10 cases of beer & sold them for $50 each after NY. Another time some ppl paid me $300 for a ride to Squamish at the end of the night, I was already on my way there so it worked out great. It was a fun way to spend NY, if I dropped someone at a party & it looked fun I'd just go in, say hi to some ppl, maybe check out the fridge, then hit the road again when I'd hear someone talking about leaving. Easiest & funnest $1000 I ever made. I lost my best friend to booze & cars when I was younger so it felt good to be doing something positive & making some some $, I think he would have liked that.
Unfortunately the transit system only pulled this move for a few years, u could still do it but I don't think it would be as lucrative as during those years.
It is always sad to lose a friend in the mountains or doing something they loved, but a loss caused by booze & driving seems like such a waste & something so avoidable.
Edit- Luke crazy story! Lots of cab drivers really do suck at driving so u may have a point:-)
