I got tired of searching for specific pieces of gear in my action packers, so I decided to hang it instead.

If you hang it up in just the right way, it would make nice clinking noises to warn you of earthquakes.

I've had machinations to transform my outdoor closet into a gear-room, however I just get too damn lazy so the sh#t all ends up in my trunk pretty much year-round. lol.

I like it. 9 belay pieces? 10 if you count the soloist.
Is that a bottle of Oban next to the Makers?

I use to own a climbing shop, and one day this guy walks in who owns a local storage unit. When people stop paying their rent, they open up the unit and sell what is in there. He had a 5 gallon bucket of climbing gear and that hammer was laying on top. I asked "how much for the hammer?" He said that he would sell the whole bucket for $100. Pulled a c-note out of the register right then.
In the bucket was two other hammers- one is a Stubai and the other has no distinguishing marks on it. They were marked with the initial RA. The only person I could think of locally was Ron Anderson. I started a searcxh on ST for Ron and some time later he had heard about this and found ST. He told me he did not think it was his.
Also in the bucket was Strawberry Mountain harness, several commercial ice screws, some homemade ice screws, a deadman, several nuts, couple of rigid stem cams, some old friends, and tons of webbing.
SCORE!!!!!!!

Wally-
I like that storage. Close the lid and off you go.
Ron-
I thought that this was your gear. I am in Dallas visiting the in-laws for the holiday. I will take a look at the head when I get home.

Good Question...

Was just searching through the topo here for ideas on climbing gear storage.
We've been storing our school's climbing gear in large metal boxes for years and they are a mess. Hard to find what's needed at any given time, and since we have several folks going in and out of them they just continue to decline.
So I though bumping this thread might motivate some to share their own ideas and maybe give me some ideas as I plan on building a more efficient means of storage.
Thanks in advance!
Images welcomed!!

That's a cool solution Dave! I've got a commercially made thing with wire hanger-hooks on it I'd found for sale used and cheap. I've forgotten what it's called, and it's a little small, but otherwise awesome. It's a little disorganized, but it works. I have the stuff I rarely use, BigBros, Valley Giants et all, stuffed into boxes elsewhere. My toprope stuff goes into a plastic box, lead stuff just hangs there in the man cave.

If your stuff is all neat and tidy and organized that means you don't do anything with it.

yep I get ya Mr. Duck.
I'd love to see a photo of the yosar cache.
I'll bet it doesn't stay in a pile on the floor post-use for very long eh?
Come on, give up the goods. I could use a little inspiration.

Went an looked and the Mfg of the thing is "GearStash". Makes it easy to grab the crap you want as you head out on adventures. Picturetime:
Kind of small, but all my toprope gear (like retired biners, nuts, cams, old slings etc) goes into a big plastic box, and aid gear goes in another big plastic box, keeping the Gearstash for lead gear.
For shoes, I use old retired daisy chains to hang them up.
This keeps the old school pawing through boxes and dumping a haul bag out each time you need something system to a minimum:-) The Chouinard padded sling on the left is my standard lead rack. I just hang it up with all the gear on it, then add or subtract as needed. Extra slings are stuffed into a mesh bag on the right.
Here's some info from the factory web site: http://gearstoragesystems.com/
"The GearStash® gear storage organizers (Mesh Bags, HangStraps and Hooks) help you turn a messy area into an organized functional space. Our gear organizers storage systems ensure you take the gear you need where you need it. The GearStash® organizers help you simplify inventorying, finding, and packing all your gear and equipment. When you return, your gear storage organizers provide you consistent places to quickly stow each item to be ready to find and pack for your next trip."

I keep my free rack in the trunk and everything else in 2 haulbags in my bedroom. I know what's in there.
