I'm stuck at Bass Lake this weekend. Is there any climbing or bouldering within say 30 minutes. How long to the Valley

Dear lord. I spent a whole summer there. There is some decent climbing, but most of it is more like an hour up into the hills. Fresno Dome might be around 30 minutes I doin't quite remember. There is definitely a 60 or 70ish foot slab with some decent sport slabs and top ropes on it about 20-30 mins out towards Fresno Dome. I can't recall directions though.

Good luck!

1 Hour 15 minutes to the valley. On memorial day weekend, it will take two hours + if you enter the South Gate at the wrong time.

You are at the gateway to Southern Yosemite and Fresno Dome, Chiquito Dome (maybe your best best see the southern yosemite conditions thread) and yada yada

Best o Luck

Peace

Bass Lake is not a bad place to be. If you said 1 hr. away, then you've got a lifetime of great climbing.

Fresno Dome is now open from the lower approach. Willow Creek wall is a wee bit closer.

Here's a little bouldering within 30 minutes, if you can find it:

You know what's at the bottom of Bass Lake?

Actually I think there are more goldfish in Bass Lake then there are bass, so the correct answer would just be 'fish sh!t'.

CARPITAL ONE!

Edit for TJI--
For info on H2O sources at the lake, try
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/drinkingwater/Pages/default.aspx#middle_column

and there's info on sites around the area, like Area 50, the Bible Camp. Not 51, the Alien Camp. They drink Evian over there, pretty much.

Actually there is a serious human sh#t problem with that lake, due to some bad sewer lines running under the lake. We call it ass lake around here and most of us don't swim in there.
