Interesting post.

Reply edited for brevity

I'm generally dismayed when threads start as well intended, civil discourse and then become dragged into something far less edifying.
In these cases, I respect the right of the original poster to delete their thread.
I've done it myself a couple times.
That would make me guilty as charged and a tosser.

Supertopo is a fascinating example of the modern phenomenon of digital social media
that reveals the full range of our capability to engage in everything from enlightening and civil discourse to cruel and venomous diatribe.--Chief

We have the world by it's nuts. We are the nuts. We are the outsiders still. Who has the right to sh#t on our turf? We. We art "post-tosser lit." On ourselves do we sh#t. And sometimes others. To edit is our remit. Do delete is neat, but holy cow! It's hard not to hang on. It's so un-ascending, Riley. Lettin' go's just a no. Adults do it, though. Gotta grow.

We all have second and even more ordinal thoughtage. Your thoughts writ right are all our delite. Generally speaking. So don't be so fast to post, we can wait for the mill to grind and let the wordage come out fine and to the point. Bargage should be tossed, I think, token out to sea and made to sink.

Too funny,

Too avoid pics that some find offensive, someone offended Locker by invoking his name as synonymous with pornographic and offensive pictures. Yet it seems to me that Locker shouldn't really be offended because by his own doing and admission, he loves pornography and likes pushing the limits and wishes this forum would allow more pornographic pictures, even though some find the photos offensive.

So who was more offensive? Heh heh..

Just messing with you man. :-)

and Locker.. I know that you are just messing.. but still, you get pretty intense about some subject.

I'm always editing myself, some might prefer I was outright deleted.
It seemed I was overstating the obvious and coming off as way too idealistic and "preachy", something I'm chronically guilty of.
Thought it best to edit for brevity and fess up to being guilty as charged.

What's wrong with deleting threads?

I've done it when things escalated to a level where I didn't want my name (I use my own name, shocking) attached to the vitriol that was being thrown around.

If it's something that is going to be talked about regardless, someone will resurrect the thread and attach their own name to it. Fine with me.

It may well be that Toker Villain is talking about me.

In response to an email by fellow Supertopian sent to me, telling me he is glad I did not nuke my Hetch Hetchy thread.

Howdy

Yeah, Hetch Hetchy, beautiful place (lots of rattlers though). I have only bouldered there not climbed.

I have only nuked three of my threads since 2005, and only when there has been very little input, I do not want to 'silence' people. The first time it was because I may have thought the thread
inappropriate, the second because the first few posters were using it 'wrong', in my opinion. And of course the latest nuke.

I don't like doing it.

Cheers

It's just plain inconsiderate to those who took the time to respond to your thread. It generally is either the ultimate fail (you wimp out and erase your humility) or, the ultimate troll when you suck people in and get them all heated up and then pull the rug out from under them ... leaving them scratching their whatever!

Alyster Crowley would utilize another angle of the 'bait and delete' in which he would pursue/stalk you on some thread and lure you into some totally irrelavent and demeaning discussion. Then, long after you bothe left the thread (usually in the middle of the night) he would go back and delete all of his questions and insulting comments, etc., and leave you looking like an F'n fool.

But, he (Crowley) was such a nice guy at Facelift (in person) though, eh? lol

TRUE!

The vast majority of peeps here (myself included) need to get an F'n life!

I think, CMac should pull the ULTIMATE delete, and, when he's made his fortune, DELETE THE WHOLE FUKIN SITE! ...just sayn'!!

EDIT: BTW, the best way to get around the A. Crowley types of 'bait & delete' is to quote everything they say before they delete it!!!

"So?" = The classic AC initial subtle lead, into a "bait & delete" session! haha!!

DMT,

I wasn't quoting his garbage to combat the troll war, I was quoting it to combat the troll (AC). And it worked, he quit stalking me, because it was "game over"! He delighted in making someone look like a fool (in the long run) was very careful to ask the right questions, so that when the answers you responded with were left by themselves (after he deleted his) they would look particularly foolish. Especially when you were not imediately aware of his deletions, and the thread was revived at a later date and it was past the time period for you to correct or delete your responses. It looked as if you were having some schizo conversation with yerself...defending some absurd notions, or whatever.

The d00d was a pro who reveled in his deceit, imo! A jackal of the cyberspace, and we were his prey!

Yeah, that's true. He was a persistent bugger, that's fo'sho! I like to think that it caused him some sort of frustration, inconvenience though. Actually, I kinda enjoyed sparing with him, outwitting him, setting him up. But, that was rare, I was just beginning to hone my AC skills when he got booted. I'd like to see the guy return, b'cuz ... I think, CMac should pull the ULTIMATE delete, and, when he's made his fortune, DELETE THE WHOLE FUKIN SITE!

And then this bozo goes on to say

Just sayin'.

Got balls, John? Stop sayin' just sayin' and I think people might take all of us more seriously. Howere, this would demand our stopping to think out what we want to say, and that doesn't work at hi-speed, I've been finding.

So I'm sayin' WE NEED NOT TO BE TARDS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Some may find that a challenge. I do not.

I've thought about a thread deletion. Once. I decided I'm man enough (that's so laughable sayin' that on the net, isn't it?) to leave it in place. someone might just find it and turn it into gold. Some of you can do that.

What about the Motorcycle thread, dated back forever, but was buried until zBrown got inspired by the pic of Sonny Barger on one of my threads. So, I give a Mouse's ass about if or why anyone deletes. Their business, theirs alone. Start your own thread and delete it.

Then you'll be among the deletists. But to be among the elite deletists is a questionaable goal. Could be a thread topic here somewhere to delete at a later time.

"Should there be a Thanksgiving Parade on ST?" delete>ok_immediate_mouse<delete

ps. I wasn't his prey.
prollie felt ya weren't worthy. not enuf of a challenge. to mundane, superficial, etc! ;)

i took it as an honor. he picked his 'prey' closely. i probably reminded him of someone who had dominion over him in his youth. someone powerful. someone who threatened his image of himself (narcissistic). someone significant. someone, in his tormented mind, that he desired to control, but he was to weak, to insignificant, to ill equipped & powerless to attempt do so in the real world.

edit: "Cheers" - back atcha!

ps. I wouldn't let that worry ya (feel left out)!

** Just kidding of course. He mainly targeted people that were on opposite sides of the fence then he was. Wasn't "narcissistic" as far as I know. Just liked to stir things up. He only bugged me once or twice, from what I can remember. I think he was having a slow night or something. Kind of livened things up for me, anyway.

Serious deletion anger at the moment.

Jody, the tosser, took off the thread about the Oakdayle Piton Kumbaya Festival and I believe he left behind a big box of Kleenex and another of tampons, size Way Too Big. Anyone need 'em?

So is there any way to get those wonderful reports we all made re-instated. This is a major slap in the face to the ST's historical validity.

Who can help? Is there a canny veteran who can advise me?

The last Jody posts are just prior to the dates of the Festival.

I seriously want to castigate the little cry-babbly.
