need some suggestions from you all

YOSAR?

Yosemite Climbing?

Norton,

I would feel very badly taking your money, so I must decline your offer. Tell you what, if Obama wins, I will donate $5k to the climbing non-profit of your choice.

um,

Fatty got himself banned, TWICE by Chris Mac

his getting himself banned should NOT get him out of his pledge to donate $5000

he said it's my choice which non profit gets his money

I am leaning to YOSAR, that ok with you guys?

Ron, that is BS.

Fatty acted like a huge dick! He knew where Cmac drew the line and stepped over it. He even got a second chance and pulled the same BS. The fact that he got the boot for acting like a dick has nothing to do with him paying off on a bet that he made.

If he welches on the bet it will say a lot about his lack of character. I for one fully expect him to welch, but will be happy to be proved wrong.

Ron, Jeff is a friend of mine. I don't think he feels a victim of the behind the scenes shenanigans you suggest. (You can ask him on fb, he's in the house there right now. Im sure) He was banned for what he said in front of us all. He's dogmatic about what he believes and willing to get shut down for it. I don't agree with any of it,but gotta hand it to him for his tenacity.

But back to the point. I think Yosar is a good place to put his money, and I'm sure he agrees. But let's keep the suggestions coming in. Not like he's likely to burp up a check tomorrow,or anything. We have time to pick the right one.

Not that I get a vote, but $5k of Fatty's money to a worthwhile cause to let him back in is ok by me. Provided he's on a short leash.... The endless politard threads and pics of his jacket were tiresome. Aside from that, as a mostly lurker didn't mind him one bit. That said, did he have non-politard posts? :-/

yes - bring fatty back!!

i will donate 100 bucks to the ASCA if ya bring our friend fatty back

give it to the ASCA - it is the most important of all

That's the spirit!

We should take advantage of this situation to do a non-partisan act of good, that we can all feel good about.

Perhaps we could set a goal of MATCHING Fat's "contribution", in solidarity.

I will also match 100 bucks.

A promise is a promise. I don't recall he had attached any strings such as "I call it off if I'm banned again"
C'mon Jeff, if you're reading this.
This time make a donation to something that will actually benefit the 99% of climbers who are living on a worker's wage....or less...as well as the other 1%; instead of to the political party that got hosed in spite of over $1Billion spent.

http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/campaign-finance
And this doesn't count the unknown $$ spent by hidden (Citizens United) big spenders.

Good suggestions so far, but what about a smaller search & rescue groups (than YOSAR) or a non-profit that helps low income/students climbers (like this Urban Peaks)

http://urbanpeaks.org/news

I don't know anything about this particular non profit but it seems like a smaller less known non-profit is the one that could actually benefit the most....

and look at all this!

Fatty, of his own accord, stated that he would give $5K to the charity of Norton's choice if Obama won. No conditions were put on this by Fatty or Norton. To me, it is very simple. Norton needs to say, on this thread, what charity he chooses. Fatty needs to post up and show that he has donated the money. If he doesn't, he is both a welch and a liar. He does not need Norton's personal information. He just needs to STFU and pay his debt. End of story.
