Great question, Sewellymon.
I'm jazzed you and your wife are coming! I'm cleaning my van and kayaks today, but will try to go on line and check facilities. Cheers and Love, lynne.

So Jeff, Sewellymon,
Big Rock is 1/2 mile hike in on a paved road. Park has restroom and picnic tables.....no water or food.
I imagine we can bring small bbq's. I'll bring 6 gallons of H20.
Wadda ya think as far as food? Bring whatever, have a general menu or just bring snacks and heavy appetizers. lynnie
PS. If folk want to come and don't want to bring food, yo, just show up, we'll have plenty. :D

Hi Lynne- ya Cynthia really has taken to climbing. Big Rock is a place I think she'll enjoy. Plus she enjoys meeting all these interesting people.

Cosmic,
Here's one from Peabody's WABAC machine. Before the dam, teenagers having fun after climbing the Trough ca.1965. Hey, are those Busch Bavarian beers? "Taco" insisted on climbing in cowboy boots.
Have fun everyone, I'll make it back there one of these days. Congrats on getting married, Jeff and Cynthia!

I'll bring a barrel of KFC
and a case of Newcastles.
Lynne: do you have a Wagon we can cart
some of the stuff to the crag?
I don't want to carry all that on my back
along with my rope and climbing gear.

My own self, soloing The Trough...1976
I'd look at the thing from the ground and the dishes made it look like a romp. Then I got on it and thought "holy crap, this is spoogie". Talk about slick!
I soloed The Roof but backed off the Trough every time I tried to solo it.
Back then the harder climbs were more secure, but you did not want to fall; quite a few of the boltz required using a stopper due to lost hangers or to reduce leverage on the spinner.
It was a great place to party and climb.
What is the access these daze? Park where?

Parking outside the gate for free isnt to advisable at the bernasconi entrance, your chit might get stolen....its worth the 10 bucks to park inside or park in the neighborhood across from the dam and walk in...

I park on the road outside the gate but leave nothing in my car and do not lock it, so the windows do not get broken. Okay, I admit it, I drive a POS.
