Hi everyone

I drive to California a lot, and sometimes Colorado and Utah, and might be able to bring this guy quite a ways towards a good new home... so please don't be put off by my Phoenix location. He's a good doggie and deserves a very good home.
There are 4 pics and more info, including my contact info, here:

http://www.mountainproject.com/v/excllnt-crag-dog-rescued-from-jacks-cyn---needs-forever-home/107773982

thanks for looking

Cybele

PS not sure how he is with kids or cats...i will assume he's gonna be great with kids but I haven't seen it yet...he did well at a crag with close to 15 people hanging out near him, lots of commotion, etc.

Only if you are selfish about keeping the crags the way you want them.

The last dogs at the crag thread here got me motivated to bring our new dog to the crag for the first time. It's a little more hassle for me (I have to bring a water bowl, have to clear space for him in the car, just one more thing to deal with) but he was SO happy. His tail was wagging for 24 hours straight (his first time camping too). He was so much happier than if he just stayed at home lying around. The people next to us at the crag were happy too. They came over and asked what kind of dog he was and pet him.

I hope a great sport climber or ANYONE takes this doggie in. It's times like this when one offers kindness, not negativity...

It is very kind of you to take him in, esp since your own space/allowances are limited. May I share your link with a friend or two privately? I'm in Tucson, and have friends that may want to adopt this treasure of a pup. I could try to do so before heading out for the weekend if that would be helpful.

Someone on MP told me about a Heeler rescue in Phoenix, but I definitely want to exhaust the outdoor community options first before a general city adopter search. There are 7 dogs on my block, yes 7, four different owners, who I am pretty sure haven't even been walked once in a year. They just get put out in the yard. Never exercise, never change of scenery. It gets me boiling mad.

Yes I paid to get him neutered, shots, and heartworm. I have a couple short videos of him, I will post on Youtube when I have a chance (tonight?) and post the links

if you are in Phoenix you might call Carrie at Fedwell farms 602-316-8919 she is in north scotsdale and has a healler rescue . I brought her 7 dogs last week from Winslow . tell her Nadine from Winslow refered you

I am sure Nadine is not joking, it is sad how many "Rez Dogs" come out of this area.

Still looking for a closer forever home than Moab... have a couple people who might be able to foster, though one has two chihuauas and I think this guy is to dorky eager for affection and will step on them without meaning to...

Hey come on guys this dog is making it the whole day while am at work with no toilet accidents! Plus he got out the back yard gate accidentally when the neighbor left the gate open, and I didn't know til too late, and he came right back immediately when I called him. This was even though he was several houses up the alley already. He's going to make the right home very happy.

"Cybie is back living in her van, complete with dog."

Hahaha, alas, I wish. I am sadly paying rent and working for the eleventh day in a row today at a psychiatric hospital in Phoenix AZ. I'm applying for jobs in a place I can enjoy the outdoors. It will happen eventually.

Doggie update- have a couple foster potentials, for which I am grateful. One has three other pets that are tiny, and I worry this eager thing will be too much, stepping on them in his happy enthusiasm. Haven't called the Heeler rescue because I first want to try to get him a specifically outdoors lifestyle home and also I am sure they are swamped...I've been busy working and do mean to contact there, though. Have someone from Denver showed initial interest but that's a long way away to manage logistics...though ultimately I am willing to try...I was feeling hyper after work one day when she called and I may have annoyed her off...

I am disappointed that over 2,000 people have looked and only a tiny bit of interest in taking him. He's such a good dog, everyone who meets him says so. I appreciate everyone who did reply, either on posts on either site or called or emailed. I have to take the time now to follow up on all the leads I've been given. Work has not permitted. If you're someone who said anything about helping out or maybe taking him and you haven't head from me or I haven't been very assertive about it, that's why.

Cybele, how is she with other dogs? I lost Walter two years ago and Nickey misses having another dog around. She is 12 years old and I think she would get a bump in her spirits with a kindred soul to share butt-sniffs with. Unfortunately well established dogs don't tolerate young pups using them as trampolines and things can get a bit tense sometimes.

If the two of them can get along I'll be your huckleberry. Send me an email and lets see if we can make this work.

How do goats threaten your daughters? This isn't a Tom Robbins novel after all. And if your dogs get banged up by a goat, then they aren't trained well enough to listen to you when you tell them to stay.

Possessed of keen sight and scent, and strong limbs, he dwells secure

amid the loftiest summits, leaping unscathed from crag to crag,
up and down the fronts of giddy precipices, crossing foaming torrents

and slopes of frozen snow, exposed to the wildest storms,
yet maintaining a brave, warm life, and developing from generation

I was going to leave this alone but I agree with Jebus...

I can't believe I've seen a couple of BS posts like this from different users in the recent past and people don't absolutely pile on this nonsense. Last one was some guy talking inappropriately about DMT's underage daughter, now this.

An off-color joke how ever inappropriate it may be is never a reason to threaten anyone much less someone's family. We should do everything we can to discourage this kind of BS here at ST!

Debate/discussion/disagreement are what we come here for. Personal attacks are unacceptable under any circumstance. Now if Goatboy had said "I don't appreciate your joke and I think you should delete it." I would be applauding his diplomacy... Infighting gets us nowhere.

I am sorry to continue the OT but I feel strongly that we should speak up when this kind of thing happens and discourage this cr@p!
