Well just back from the Doc.
Yes, I reinjured my rotator Cuff
and I go in for Surgery on the 20th of Sept to get it fixed.
This tim the Doc says he may have to open me up rather than do it Arthro-
scopically to fix it.
OUCH!!!!!
Missing photo ID#260484
Hopefully I don't TRIP over any more cracks in the sidewalk. :)

My wife's been through much the same. First arthro, then nearly a year later open surgery. She's much better now, still has to be careful. She keeps herself fit at the gym and with yoga.
Good luck to you!

That full on sucks dirty balls brother..
I remember Pagen and I going to climb King Fisher - first 20 feet of the hike and he slips and falls on his bad surgically repaired shoulder....jeepers...
My arm feels real good - trying real hard not to mess it up in anyway as it is not really healed for at least a few months. Had a small trip at a concert last night......f*#k..

Yeah Ron.
I was starting to feel the same way about a month and a half ago when it seemed like I wasn't getting my strength back.
5 months post-op and I still can't lift a milk jug past horizontal
with a straight arm. I can lift it up to almost horizontal,
and past that, extream pain.
I have full mobility, just NO strength.

Yeah Bruce Looks like I fuked myself up a month after my first surgery when I tripped and fell.
I really didn't know for sure till about a month or so ago when I wasn't getting my strength back and It was aching and still popping all the time when I moved it.
I found out for sure Yesterday after the doc told me the results of the MRI I had done last Thursday.

One operation leads to another, leads to another, leads to another . . . It's a slippery slope that I've managed to avoid by using this magic formula: seek a second opinion and tell the surgeon, No! Took 3 years of absolutely brutal weight lifting but my shoulder is getting real close to back to normal. Just took a long, long time plus laziness staying off it. Don't ask me my opinion about the pandemic of shoulder, back, hip and knee operations and I won't repeat my rant.

I did get a second opinion.
DR said the same thing,
I MESSED up the first surgery when I tripped and fell
a month after the surgery and ripped the supraspinitus.
Lord knows I don't want to get another surgery, but it is interfering with my business and my climbing.
It's my own dam fault I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk!

As much as I dislike the whole surgery 'culture', a catastrophic tear of the supraspinitus does require surgery if you want it to heal up again. If it's torn clean through, there's no other way. It just won't fix itself. However, all the surgeries that are done to repair partial tears of the supraspinitus tendon (IMHO) are just expensive quick fixes to stop the pain quickly, but do not necessarily correct the underlying problem. MRIs are always subject to interpretation according to the skill and experience of the interpreter, but a full range of motion study doesn't lie. If you can't hold your arm out in front of you at 90 degrees, the dang thing is torn clean through and has to be stitched together to heal properly. Just won't do it on its own.
Best of luck with your 'Trois'!

Dude, you could get five each of those screws Mouse posted pictures of, and you'd still have about a tenth of the metal I've got in my leg. Rehab wasn't much fun, but the metal holds everything together just fine.
Good luck with the surgery, and keep us posted.

I'd be asleep by now, or at least pretending to be, but remember:
two heads are not necessarily better than one (depends upon who's heads)
a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down
going down sometimes can be like a spooful of sugar (if you know what I mean)
best wishes for a safe knife encounter
I went back and read through the whole thread (I hate not being in with the in crowd) if you know what I mean - liked your photos - you look different - fairly cosmic

Nooooooo, say it ain't so. I'm gone several months and return to this! Actually that pic of the passive motion chair is alot sexier than the beat up straight-from-the-dungeon one I had. Sailing for 3 months I wasn't the best at keeping up with my exercises and I feel the stiffness, but I think the "injury" has healed.
All the best,
Susan
