Yosemite non-profit, Balanced Rock, is offering to provide morning yoga sessions as a service to this year's Facelift. The classes will be facilitated by Balanced Rock instructors who live in the Yosemite area. Classes will be from 7:00am-8:00am at Yellow Pines. The classes are free and everyone is welcome. Is there interest?

Hmmm, 7:00 - 8:00 AM seems a touch early, although it may help roust out the troops. Will there be coffee?

How about yoga for the creakies and crinklies?

Also, my personal preference is the downward cat, FWIW.

Sounds like it'll add a nice touch to the FaceLift! Maybe not every morning?

It's ok, Cait - property values in Camp 4 jumped when they heard you were staying there. And, as you say, it's closer to the action, plus a superior class of camper to those in steerage over at Yeller Pine.

Anyway, I'm totally looking forward to doing the yoga every morning, and I'll be going out later to buy the uniform. Not sure about jstan.

Yoga....why would I want to do yoga....I'm so flexible now that I can bend down and touch my knees without bending them! Can you do that?

That's great! I'm in if I can make it over from UP in time. Thanks to Balanced Rock for offering this.

In the world of yoga practices, 7 am isn't particularly early! Will be a nice time before the potential heat of the day sets in too.

Being new to a yoga practice is no hindrance. If you are trying to do the pose, you are doing it as well as someone who's been practicing it for years.

Actually, if there's going to be early morning yoga, and considering the likely demographic, maybe there should be post-yoga physiotherapy? We could put YOSAR and the clinic on alert, too.

hey yoga is happening. it will be anounced at the facelift. i had a garbled message from heather, so i will check the office in the morning for the exact schedule and post up then.
i just want to say that this class will be great for beginners and experianced yogis alike. the instructors are all climbers and in my biased opinion amamzing. i'll check the time, but whatever it is will be worth getting up for. this is mountain yoga....coffee is accepted, as are stiff, creaky, cranky folks.

okay, i found schedules in the office and here it is...
wednesday 7:30-8:30 eliza kerr-
have you ever had a yoga teacher who climbed the nose in a day? eliza has been teaching yoga in this community for over a decade. her practice these days is gentle. a perfect way to start the day in the valley.
thursday 7:30-8:30 paula wild
well i have never been to one of paula's classes, so i can't tell you anything about it, but she is a climber and i think she is cool.
friday 7:30-8:30 heather sullivan
heather is one of my best friends and an amazing yoga teacher. it is completely acceptable to have coffee before her classes, she will have. despite her caffeine level, her classes are somewhat gentle (there are usually a few spicy bits in there, but compared to a hot city class, this will be more of a wake up the body for a day of adventure.)
saturday- no class
sunday- 7:30-8:30 jon-paul salonen
i've never been to jon's class either, but i bet it is pretty good.

their notes on the flyer say that every class is open to and geared towards all levels of yoga, from absolute beginner to seasoned practitioner. limited mats available.
so there you have it. there will also be a community yoga class on wednesday from 6:00-7:15 in el portal at the el portal school multi purpose room. the instructor will be demian mckinley who will be a special guest teacher from hawaii.

In the midst of all the reports from Facelift, I wanted to give a big shout-out to Balanced Rock for providing some awesome classes in a stunning setting. I learned and made a new and inspiring connection each day. Thanks to Eliza, Paula, and Heather for teaching! I would have made the last day with Jon-Paul (I think that's his name), the way meatfest played out caused me to "fall out of my pose". :-) Which is ok, since that's part of the practice, eh? Making the effort is really at the core.

Loved getting up and riding my bike from Upper Pines to Yeller Pines!

Thanks Balanced Rock! You really brought something very cool to Facelift!

Cheers and namaste,
Eric

+1 Eric!

The yoga was absolutely wonderful, and the setting was the kind you usually see in the pre-recorded classes...the trees, pine needles, smell of pine/bay/fresh air, sun creeping across the rock faces...out of this world awesome.

Thank you for donating your time, intention and great instruction!

As much as I had intentions for being there, I only arrived for one morning. "Oh great, they are warming up..I made it on time" Come to find out I made it in time for Shavasina. Well, that bit was a nice way to wake up.
Thanks to Heather and you colleagues, I saw you had many appreciative attendees. Namaste.

Well, I did my best to persuade the Camp 4 gang to descend upon Yeller Pines and participate, at least to the extent of drinking coffee and leering. No luck. Though two FaceLifters in site 34 did some every day - one of them an accomplished dancer.
