I left a 1" tubular nylon sling hanging right at the start of Cathedral Peak on the 5th.
What a stoopid thing to do. When you get it back, sew it onto your forehead and invest in a mirror so that you readily check to see if it's still attached.

Still waiting for someone who aint a dick and is under 50 to post. Old gonners who don't climb can step off and go clip some bolts. And, dumbasses, REI sells more 1" slings than any other size and if you actually climbed you would know this. Read it: REI, not AARP, so suk it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm under fifty, don't have a dick but heck... I'm also wondering what type of root? Seriously is it a tree root, the root of a word? I have no idea how you can mix slings with roots...
Plus I know Carma, she's a nice puppy.

Perhaps the most articulate post ever.
Not.

I know. The faded sling is special to you. It's got a star on it...
I'm under 50, yet I'm old enough to know not to feed the trolls and I'm still responding. I must be bored.
There's another lost and found thread with some pretty special looking underwear on it. Perhaps if you start using frilly lace to mark your slings people will realize how important they are to you.

REI sells more 1" slings than any other size
Last time I went to an REI to get bail slings on the way to a weekend adventure, they didn't have any cut-to-length bulk slings.
More proof for over-50 poster remembering the good ol' days when every climber knew how to tie a water knot.

@Nutjob
In my forties and yes, still familiar with the water knot. REI is an extremely slow sinking ship.
I remember as a child in the 70's my father hitting the Berkeley REI for parts / components when building his own backpacks. He wasn't a climber but a fairly serious backpacker and an engineer, which lead to him wanting to build his own backpacks to fit his needs. It worked back then.
REI's soul has been draining over the years since and it is only a matter of time before it becomes a purely yuppie clothing / lifestyle store like Lands End. (They used to sell sailing supplies....)

Ha! Agreed Mr. E. Woe is me. my retailers are sucking more and more. I've got it so rough.
On the flip side. Yes it's a first world problem. But does that mean it's not worth anything whatsoever? Climbing in and of itself seems like kind of a first world thing after all. Maybe we should ignore everything related to it until we have the rest of the world's problems sorted out.
