I wonder if this 2012 election year will be the year that pot finally gets legalized here in California? It was pretty close last go around, if all the stoners remember to go out and vote maybe it'll pass.

Actually got searched today.
Cop found about 1-2 joint's worth and a cheap home made pipe.
Asked me if I was out to make a "marijuana statement" on Pot day.
I said no, that I pretty much had a few tokes every day.
Gave him absolutely NO attitude, and just asked him if it was worth the paperwork.
He was conflicted for several minutes.
Finally he hung my pack on a fencepost and said, "I'm going to turn my back for 5 seconds, and if you are gone then that is the end of it."
I was gone in 3.
Many other pertinent details that I am not going to divulge.
Don't frikken ask.
But I will add that 2 minutes later when I looked in the pack nothing was missing!!!!!

Hellyes I got a story for Piton. Good story about the nice cop.
In April of 1968, pretty close to this date, I was awaiting transfer to the fleet, having bombed electronically (the Nav wanted techs to fix deadly gadgets for them--NFW) at the Treasure Island school. I was destined to be a boatswain's mate, chipping paint, but at least I...well, let's be honest, I was constantly stoned, more attuned to who was gonna be playing at the Fillmore and the Dog and listening to Tom Donahue interview Janis on the underground air.
So one morning, nothing to do but lie in the sun in the yard of the transfer barracks. On the way I met up with some mates. We lived four to a section in the barracks. We called ours the sugar cube. Two of these mates were with Kerver, proprietor of Kerver's Psychedelic Grocery, who lived in the neighboring cube. He had two fatties and said they were in need of inhalation. We got the first smoked to the roach. We were standing on the outside landing of the steps leading to the upper floor of the barracks, about fifteen feet up but suddenly much higher.
Out of the bushes came three or four men in plainclothes suits. They were waving guns and yelling at us. One of us bolted into the common room and tried to flee the scene. As he made his move he struck my portable radio, which was the first victim of this show of disapproval by the Office of Naval Investigation, as it was then called; it is now known as NCIS. Totally unwarranted, but legally, they searched us and our lockers after "the thrilling chase scene." I asked to put on a t-shirt and Nope. I was in cut-off navy dungarees. They were trying to humiliate us by marching us over to their office in such deshabille. Nice try.
I confessed all: Yes, sir, I was gonna be high for the next several hours because my friends had got some really good weed (the un-smoked J was sitting next to the officer in a baggie; oh, sure, I have taken LSD more than once--the bishop who I talked to for guidance several months ago probably had already told them this; and I don't give a damn if I stay in the service or get tossed, sir.
I was given an undesirable discharge six weeks later, made to get a haircut before thay would let me off the base to begin life as a civilian once more. Pricks!
I had lasted eggs ackley 364 days, never made it to E3, even, and had been to watch BB King, the Who, Jimi, Albert King, Cream, Santana, and lost my radio. Which is how I came to Yosemite, basically. I moved from T.I. and two weeks later I was living partly in the Bonebrake-Bircheff-Bridwell site behind the Standard. Then I moved to a cave.
That undesirable paper disappeared four years later and was replaced by a general discharge under honorable conditions.
I believe we were smoking Panamanian that morning. I'll never quit. I hope you learn from this to keep your electronic devices tethered when up on the rocks. As Bird advises us, tie everything together.
That's my tale.
Apogee, I am Thor from Laffin Island. Asgard legalized it?

I don't smoke. I don't do "Mary Jane."
However, Hemp is an incredibly useful natural herb for many applications: medicine, products of all kinds, great for paper, clothing, rope, etc. etc. etc.
It is a wonderful natural plant provided by GOD for man to use. Not to get stoned, but to help people with their illnesses, and to make great natural products.
So why is "the man" so bent on tooling those who would use a natural flora that is so useful that GOD provided for mankind's (our) use?
Something is seriously, seriously wrong there.

I meant to do this the day after 420 but the other stuff happened and I didn't get around to it and then forgot about it.
Hemp...applications: medicine, products of all kinds, great for paper, clothing, rope, etc.
-Klimmer
"As a cheeky sixteen-year-old, I thought little of the significance of this first Yosemite climb [Lunch Ledge]; I was out for difficulty and summits and glory. Later, when I had read more about the old-timers, I would sometimes climb to the ledge alone and try to imagine what they had felt as they climbed with their half-inch hemp ropes and their crepe-rubber-soled shoes. Thinking about doing a body rappel on five-sixteenth-inch hemp, I could almost feel its bristly texture sawing my body in half."
-Good Old Steve
Anyone ever actually get to do a rap or an "ab" (chee!) on the above-mentioned kind of rope, or have a pair
of those shoes we could gander at while passing a bong?
Photos of Steve burning one on Lunch are available on request. NOT.

I went to my neighbor's house this weekend to chat. He came out reeking. Said he had the flu for ten days. Do you think just maybe weed compromised his immune system?
People who smoke weed can not think in a proper sequence. They are confused and make irrational choices. They forget important details that are necessary to make proper decisions.
They are not happy. They are just drugged. You will not find happiness at the end of a pipe anymore than you will find it in a bottle.
The worst part is that weed has such a grip on their minds that they can not perceive how screwed up their minds are. It is very sneaky snake squirming into their heads through their mouths.
I don't mind if it is legal. It is better than alchohol. And I will accept that it can help people with serious medical problems. But don't expect me to think of it is anything but debilitating for the vast majority of users.
Think you can quit for a year? I bet you can't. You will be full of excuses. It is strong. You have become weak. You are a slave to it. You are wasting your life but you are too confused to understand this.

OOh, look out, Louella! Sounds like a preacher. Wants to take our money.
So I don't take your bet, simply because it's foolish. I don't need to prove or disprove a thing you say.
But I do want you to know that I love getting ripped. I learned a long time ago that it is more fun to do my stoning intermittently.
A prolonged period of abstinence makes the high higher, but I know I am not going to remain that way, that I am going to be straight.
I get things done and it's sometimes several weeks between tokes. I never refuse a friendly offer, unless there happens to be some thing needs doing.
My given name means, according to one source I just looked at, "high, noble." Well, that may be, but my mom claimed "strong in virtue."
It may seem like a schizophrenic way to live, but the straight life can be so boring, why not get high? You probably have tried it. If not, why not?
Ciao, 5.9,(your servant) Mouse
And for the rest of you, some edumacation on foreign substances.
I ran into this passage reading The Place of the Skull, a novel from a Khirgiz named C. Aitmatov, a not-pretty story of animal slaughter on the steppes.
"I was during this period that Avidiy travelled for the first
time to Central Asia on behalf of that local Komsomol newspaper.
The immediate reason for the triip was Avidiy's idea of researching
and writing about the ways and means by which the narcotic anasha
hashish was finding its way into the lives of young peoplein the
European part of the country. Anasha is a plant which grows in
Central Asia, in the steppes around the Chui and Moyun-Kum deserts.
It is closely related to the famous marijuana, a particular type
of wild hemp whose leaves, flower-clusters and especially pollen
contain fast-acting intoxicating substances. When smoked, these
produce euphoria and the illusion of well-being. Increasing the dose
brings on a phase of depression and later on of aggression--a loss of
control that is dangerous for other people." page 38

Wow, epic fail.
That's just a stupid assessment. Do you think that pot smokers are stoned all day, every day?
I'm sorry, was my sequencing off in telling you that your assumptions are faulty?
Perhaps I made an irrational choice in writing this, but who cares, because I'm not stoned. Too much other sh#t to do today.
Edit; I went from a regular smoker to a non-smoker with no distress. I stopped, without exception, for four years. No worries, no problems. Your statements are broad and generalizing. Next time, think things through before you write.

Don't worry guys, I got this.
I went to my neighbor's house this weekend to chat. He came out reeking. Said he had the flu for ten days. Do you think just maybe weed compromised his immune system?
People who smoke weed can not think in a proper sequence.
Looks like the 'pot' is calling the kettle black (lol). THC doesn't weaken your immune system. We don't have to make guesses, because of science.
They are confused and make irrational choices. They forget important details that are necessary to make proper decisions.
Absolutely true! Just the other night I watched 'Adventure Time' for 3 hours and ate 4 brownies. It was AWESOME.
They are not happy. They are just drugged. You will not find happiness at the end of a pipe anymore than you will find it in a bottle.
Anyone who says you can't buy happiness obviously never rented a Ski-doo.
People can get addicted to cheeseburgers, people can have their lives ruined by Scratch tickets. Everything in moderation.
The worst part is that weed has such a grip on their minds that they can not perceive how screwed up their minds are. It is very sneaky snake squirming into their heads through their mouths.
This also works for Religion. My mind has been f*#ked up for DECADES! Ever tell a dead baby joke at a baby shower? I did when I was 10. And I disected lizards and beat the tar out of a kid in middle school.
All my big regrets, all the things in life I wish I hadn't done were before weed. They were before I was able to separate the ego from a very obvious perch. It was when I was the most conflicted, the most confused at the operation of this shitty shitty world we live in. I've found now that outward negativity is ALWAYS a sign of inner struggle and that the best answer is always to be as loving and happy as you can (with our feeble human brains and egos).
I don't mind if it is legal. It is better than alchohol. And I will accept that it can help people with serious medical problems. But don't expect me to think of it is anything but debilitating for the vast majority of users.
You can think what you'd like, and I encourage more research. I feel the same way about religion, though shining examples exist that prove some of my ideas wrong. It's good to get a lot of perspective so we can see why it is others come to the conclusions they sit at.
Think you can quit for a year? I bet you can't.
5 grand? I'll bet you 5 grand. I've gone a year off before, was pretty easy. Kinda boring, but I could use another 3 months on the road climbing.
You will be full of excuses. It is strong. You have become weak. You are a slave to it. You are wasting your life but you are too confused to understand this.
I wake up every day at 6am and climb hundreds of pitches a month. You, sir, are wasting YOUR life.

Meblitzo in 'full-race cruise' mode. "Right On." "Left On." "Straight down the middle."
People who smoke weed can not think in a proper sequence.
So:
I can’t possibly figure out how to make this brownie mix.
Or be smart enough to write this response on a separate page and then copy/transfer when I’ve edited this.
Or consider arguing over this with a nimrod like the person who wrote this egregiously erroneous assertion to be worth another minute of the precious time I have left to SPARK ONE MORE and put my mind in ‘cruise,’ a condition known only to the cognoscenti of cannabis.
These nay-saying nabobs of negativity should be here on the ground instead of eight miles high on their camels of contentment, waiting for heaven to take them away when they die, JUDGING THE OTHERS OF US WHO THINK DIFFERENTLY THAN THEY.

I couldn't care less what recreational substances adults knowingly put in their bodies but if you're driving on the same roads as the public and kill someone, that should be a simple case of second-degree murder IMO.

Random happenings and thoughts really shouldn't be taken so seriously.
Isn't "7" the lucky number? What happened on December 7, 1941?
Dipping shit!! is actually an honorable profession (see e.g. proctology (/präkˈtäləjē/) and the scatological principle).

This song, by Michael Brewer & Tom Shipley was my favorite as a teenager in the '70s, even before I became a toker. Now an "activist" for re-legalization of marijuana, I hear an anthem for the silent majority who use Cannabis as a social repast, herbal medicine and spiritual lubricant.

the worst case of lung cancer I ever saw was a 19-year-old girl who had never smoked cigarettes in her life...she had just smoked marijuana
Poor girl . . . she was unfortunately either predisposed to getting lung cancer or exposed to a much more dangerous carcinogen. Your reefer madness disinformation is suspect.

Maybe she would have been made all better if a Naturopathic Doctor had administered crystal therapy along with a glass of really special water.
C'mon Jim! I live in rural Colorado . . . you really think I buy into snake oil salesmen? The chances that some 19 year old died of marijuana induced lung cancer is less than .001 percent. Many more dangerous hazards prey upon the young.

Canada will continue to “modernize” its approach to drugs, she said, to embrace among other things compassionate treatment and harm reduction.
There's way too many high paying jobs that have men strutting in black tactical gear and playing with taxpayer purchased toys, to expect anything like that to happen in the US.
It's the Interdiction Industrial Complex.

My funniest 4/20 story: About 10 years ago I was still running the Intramural and Sports club programs at UCSC. It's April 20th and the annual Slug Run event is the following day. I'm in my office going through the checklist of items needed for the event. I had checked out the 'Sammy Slug' costume so we could have a fun visual at the finish. Except for the life of me I couldn't find it. I searched everywhere. In the process of turning my office upside down, a student comes into the office and figures out what we're doing. "If you're looking for Sammy Slug, he's over at Porter Meadow at the big 4 20 event". We make a bee line over there but no Sammy. Apparently he had been there then left. For those who are unfamiliar with the UCSC 4 20 event, it's a massive smoke out in one of the meadows on campus. We then conducted an all out search and hear that Sammy was seen downtown drinking and was last seen stumbling home in front the Boardwalk after midnight. A few days later (after the Slug Run event) a video is posted on Youtube of Sammy pulling a huge bong hit in the meadow with a rasta song playing. So we send out an message, "Sammy, the party is over, time to come home". Mysteriously the costume shows up in my office later in the week. Sammy had come home.

Any of you ST'ers actually use medical marijuana for medical reasons with good results? I have been using CBD oil for about a year and recently got my MMJ card and have been experimenting with edibles and liquids. I'm interested in it for relief in two areas - pain relief, aches pains, post activity taking the edge off of from doing too much as an old(er) person; and also to help a little with anxiety and depression.
The doctor that did my evaluation only briefly gave me some pointers for actual medical use. She acted like she wasn't really that knowledgeable and was, like most doctors giving recommendations, doing it to collect $100 per card. Basically all she said was pick high CBD strains and micro-dose throughout the day. The bud-tenders at the local dispensaries really don't know anything about how to use it for legitimate medical uses.
Any advice on how to get the best results from it? I'm actually not that interested in getting high. I've gone there twice and didn't care for it. One time I had to wait until about noon the next day before I felt comfortable enough to drive a car, so obviously high doses for me isn't a good solution. I just want my joints to not hurt as bad after climbing, running, etc.

Well ,you brung it up.
I have RA.
I was hospitalized with it in 98. It is totally inherited.
That said , I am either keeping my self in good enough shape ,or properly medicating with nothing but CBD or THC.
I have not had any serious bouts in quite some time ,despite seasonal ,arm/hand issues.
That said ,that is not clinical evidence.
But ,what is ,is this. I had a lifetime prescription for Motrin, ibuprofen ,long before it was available over the counter.
That led to serious UGI issues not to mention poor blood tests saying my liver and kidneys were not doing well with NSAID’s.
Since y2k I have only used CBD,THC.
My Rheumatologist is now registered and willing to prescribe here in NY state.
He told me to find it from my buddies, insurance will not cover it and it (medicinal)is very expensive.
I am doing ok with everything.
So. ,there you have it,individual use may vary. The only side effect.

Word is the North Pacific is a shutdown for the season.
This time of year We get a steady diet of NW windswell and little Souths for nice cross-up bowls down in South SD.
Unfortunately when the big Souths start to fire up we have to head your way or down South.
I plan to give Point Mugu a shot on a big South to try and relieve my hate for summer.

Last summer when the 180 degree hit I headed down to Newport. 56th fires at that angle, we got some really good hollow days.
I've been pretty much in the San Clemente area the last few months.
Peaky days with some wave enhancement from the vape pen...
I do need to do a Mugu trip and hit the base again, I got a buddy that can get me on.
