Hang on a second, you're talking crazy talk. Is it a hot chick or just some dude. If it's some dude then i would be pissed, taking time off from work to have you sell me out, it's not the worst thing to do, but still. Now, if it's a smokin' hot chick and likely a one time deal, i can't blame you. we can always go climbin'.

it sounds like a guy wanting to sell his friend out to go climbing with another guy and making it seem like he's gonna get laid by some hot chick. It's a little confusing to me also, or maybe he doesn't kick it with hot chicks often and really wants to be a sell out.

Well now it's a little clearer. That is definately not the thing to do, especially if you two had plans. I can't go climbing with you because i want to go climbing with someone else. Not very nice.

the reason your gender is relevant is because you mention "chick" in your subject line yet you mention two dudes.

it's all very confusing.

so the answer is really one of three choices.

yes
no
maybe

Seems like a start to a "Thursday night posting up drunk" thread. The OP makes no sense and the later explaination makes even less sense.

So you are cancelling with a guy, to go with with girl, but the girl is a guy?

Ok, my take on it is he wants to cancel a climb with a dude, but thinks if he uses the "got an opportunity to climb with a girl" excuse it will be more acceptable to cancel with the original partner, as opposed to canceling and admitting to go climbing with another guy.

Doesn't seem cool too me. A committment is a commitment.

I understood the analogy.

Men are funny. If a partner ditches you to climb with some other more badass climber guy, that ain't cool. But if he ditches you to climb with some cute girl (woman, especially at y'all's age) then you (we) not only accept that, but wish him luck. Part of being a wingman, and all that.

So do I have this clearly confused, your male partner who you have the hots for, ditched you for another man and used the excuse it was only about climbing. Clearly some mixed signals.

I believe the initial post meant the following:

If you cancel climbing plans to instead climb with a better (more fun) partner,

it is equivalent to:

Cancelling a date, to go on a date with a hotter chick.

This is different from cancelling climbing plans to go on a date with a hot chick.

kinda reminds me of a....

Sailor Cat needs to bring a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage across the river.
The boat is tiny and can only carry one passenger at a time.
If he leaves the wolf and the goat alone together, the wolf will eat the goat.
If he leaves the goat and the cabbage alone together, the goat will eat the cabbage.
How can he bring all three safely across the river?

Can I tell a story.
Mid eighties, Anything goes cafe in Mammoth. Three friends of me, T.D, P.W. and the always funny N.B., are having late lunch after a climb. Two of 'em are yer local 5.9ish climbers, the third, TD is a young up-n-comer who floats 5.11. Over strolls J.B. (yeah, that JB), "hey TD", says JB,"you wanna go climbing with me tomorrow". TD replies, "thanks but I'm climbing with these guys". True. I thought it pertinent here.

depends though bro, if you are really buddies with this guy then you must understand his relationship status. if does not get that chance much often then maybe it is acceptable to cancel your climbing date for that hot girl. i guess he felt that you would be able to understand him more cause you have probably been friends long enough.

The whole situation is ambiguous so the generic answer is this

Friends and partners have to have integrity with each other but also work to each other's highest (or juiciest) good.

So if somebody wants to bail but the other had changed plans for the affair, there needs to be an honest agreement and the bailing party needs to make up for it in spades, more than compensating for the bail-age

Go for win-win

Peace

"my gender ain't relevant"

it's completely relevant...ONLY a man can have a "man crush"...so, if you're upset that some dude 'stood you up' because he got a chance to climb with a hot chick, then i'd say you need to reassess your feelings--that ain't no "man crush", dude

it's ok to be annoyed, but a real man understands two things about this scenario: 1) we'd do the same thing if given the chance--hot chicks come before guy friends and 2) because of #1, we are obligated to feel happy for our friend

that you felt the need to seek advice on an internet forum indicates some sexual confusion...not that there's anything wrong with that

I think that the OP should explain WTF he is talking about.

While spelling errors and poor grammar are to be expected on the taco his ill defined rantings make him sound like a lunatic.
Does he think that making up a phrase like "rock blocked" makes him sound cool?

If CMac wants to eliminate the unnecessary static here this guy seems a good candidate.

Chick or different partner.

If this is the case we know the following about 10910;

1) status whore

4) poor partner material

5) morality of a chicken-wolf

I think “rock block” is a phenomenon that is very relevant to a forum devoted to the climbing culture.

But not relevant enough to define.

I love when folks make fun of those who suffer through dyslexia. Very proud

Being mildly dyslexic hasn't hurt my grammar too badly.

yeah, i can't see myself ever saying rock blocked, just sounds a little cheesey. i'll just keep saying sell out, ditched or blown off. time to pick up a six rack and hit the crag for a little top rope solo action. Maybe the OP should follow my lead, your buddy wants to get laid no problem, i'll go by myself.

Well I didn't know you were in a wheelchair but it is good that you can still ride hoes.

The spell check on my laptop seems to translate to the taco but I am not going to hold my breath waiting for it to correct my grammar!

I just feel that if you are going to ask readers to take the time to read your words then it is only courteous to proof read and rephrase if, while trying to be objective, you see if your ideas are clearly presented.

And I believe that due to frequent dehydration becoming "rock-blocked" is actually quite common but isn't it easier to understand if you just say "constipated"?

This is how I translte the original post(though not without the aid of subsequent posts by the OP).

He and a male friend were going to go climbing. He had also gone out of his way to be available for the climbing day.

The partner got a chance to climb with another guy and blew off the OP to do it. The partner *might have* used the "it's a really hot chick" ploy(which, as Dingus tells us, is acceptable reason for a guy to ditch his male climbing partner).

The "hot chick" was a ruse, and his friend is actually climbing with a man. The man happens to have long hair.

Whether the partner who ditched the OP to go climbing with the long-haired climbing partner has a man-crush on the long-hair or not is unproven. The OP may simply be hurt or jealous and is lashing out in pain. Pain not like his broken leg walk-out of the wilderness, but searing pain nonetheless.

There is no woman in the menage going on. The OP was using feminine imagery with poetic license(but doing so very poorly, and is blaming it on dyslexia when more likely it is dypsomania*

Also - I have a thing for guys with long hair and I say this thread is useless without pics...

*just kidding there

everyday i commute from
hell to reality.

it takes me three rings of life
to surrmount this hill.

beyond the hill
is eternity's spiral.

up her dna i dizzily twirl
and when i arrive
at her center of gravity
i realize that im holding
all of this universe together.

my forearms bulge with
fight. the rotational inertia
of my spinning wonder

brings all beliefs into my lap.
my lap though is a bowl
and the bowl is baked
with the resins of time.

so i scrape the beliefs
and smoke god in one inhale
and what returns of
my respiratory endeavors
is her religion.

so now im high on eternity's fear,
and i've got to get back to hell
before mrs. satan has dinner on the table,
if im late she always knows that i've been
drinkin wine with god's son and she
don't look lightly upon me humpin stranger's
kindness.

and when she get's mad.
you have a bad day.

so hup hup off i go
past good god past jesus's vault past
fictions to the swine table
of hell's futures.
and together, me and satan's ol lady
we unwrite destinies.

But the essence of the reference, was that you're the main guy, with long hair referenced in the OP's second post comment, that everybody would know about on the Taco, and the main guy to be climbing with for anyone that is in the know (obscurities, new routes, Yosemite regularly, climb wide, knows a thing or two about SPH).
