Yup^^ that's my take on it. I love being able to climb after work and still have hours of daylight.
My sleep pattern always self adjusts long before the clocks change. I've been waking up at 4:30 in the morning for the last week. Now it will be 5:30.

here in arizona, standing resolutely upon the no change principle while everyone else shifts about us has it's own rewards. like sharing time zones with a whole different set of states, enjoying nationally scheduled programming at a different hour while locally generated stuff remains as advertised.
the atomic clocks need to be wrangled back into line, the older ones in a few weeks cause they're programmed according to previous guidelines.
while y'all can smugly calculate the time shift for the long distance caller using the same old conversion, we check the calender first ... then choose between options ... before wading into the confusion.
and then there's the reservations invoking their own brand of defiance.
i understand there's some places that are off by the HALF hour!
and internationally, it's more or less "time shift season."
for a coupl'a months ... SuTaco time be JIVIN' !!!

"Lost" hour of sleep only is a bummer for those who either don't get enough sleep naturally or are regimented by somebody else's clock which impinges on your freedom.
Sorry for those who face that dilemma, but I can provide a clue as to escaping it:

The sun sets one hour (more or less) later on the west side of a time zone than the east side of the time zone. If you like more sun in the evenings live on the west side of the time zone, especially one with a big extension to the west like in southwest Idaho to southeast Oregon. The entire west side of the Central Time Zone has a very late setting sun, esp. SW Texas.

tji, did you hear the same piece on 'Press Play' yesterday about the history of Daylight Saving Time?
Interesting clarifications, there: It's 'Saving' Time (not Savings), and contrary to popular belief, the farming interests have never been particularly keen on DST, as it reduces the amount of daylight hours they have to get their products to market.
Various retail interests, however, tend to support DST, as spending behaviors are more inclined during daylight hours, at the end of the day.
Given that we are now at 8 months/year under DST, this is basically our standard time- and continued expansion of DST is likely, too.
LEAVE THE CLOCK ALONE.
Thank you.

Party members here are cracking me up. The very act of messing with your clock comes across as democrats to me so let's check the facts.
The uniform time act of 1966 was signed by a democrat with a legislative branch fully controlled by the democrats. This act was based on the standard time act of 1918 which was signed by......you got it, the same war monger we all know as prez Wilson, a democrat.
Sure, now that the party has unified both sides have messed with it but the foundation of dst is war and democrats.
Come on people, throw away the clocks and get outdoors.
Aloha,
Will

I love it! Living on the western edge of the time zone and at 46.8 degrees north means long days. For about a month, I literally have two days in one during the week. I'll get out of work at 1530 and have about 6.5 hours of daylight. Although, if the PNW has any kind of fire season, we can end up with hella smokey days that lasted 2.5 months one year. Anyway, I likes the time change.

Bush changed the dates of DST by four weeks
On Monday August 8, 2005 President Bush signed into law a broad energy bill that extended Daylight Saving Time by four weeks beginning in 2007. Since 1986 the United States had observed Daylight Saving Time from the first Sunday in April through the last Sunday in October. The provisions of the bill call for Daylight Saving Time to begin three weeks earlier on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November. Read our special section about the extension of Daylight Saving Time.
