If you want long thin 5 star cracks Devil's Tower can't be beat. Many 300 foot routes where you might not put in a piece bigger than an inch. Many sections of routes that are 50-150ft long where you might not put in a piece over a 1/4 inch wide.

Carol's Crack, Devil's Tower

On the 2nd pitch I placed 7 of the same size stopper, maybe even
consecutively (on cord, no need to mess with quickdraws).

One of the finest pitches I have led. Repeated cycling between locks, stems
and liebacks. Delightful.
I later read (on the internet, so it has to be true) that it's continuous
strenuous liebacking.

I should have added that those aren't my photos nor is it me in any of them.

Falling guy is Nico Favresse on Mt. Asgard. More info on his blog, plus tons of other excellent bigwall porn to look at. The other photo is in Patagonia from some other guy's blog. It didn't say anything about the route or what formation it's on, only that it is the "half paso crack".

Alas, I have not, nor will I ever reach uber-dude status. I'm stuck at kinda-sorta-almost-maybe-dude status for now.

Anyway, heres a video trailer for the movie those uber-dudes made about the Asgard route. Check out the whipper at 1:33!!!

Another Gunks "thin crack," same size as Equinox at Joshua Tree (yellow alien/.4 cam) except it's a horizontal crack and a whole lot easier. This section of link up that combines the best part of three wildly different climbs clocks in at about 5.6 or so.

lucander, I don't recognize the Bozeman man on CCK, but names go a long ways in these parts--I have probably heard OF him before :-)

The crack I posted is on the backside of a crag well above (in elevation) its more famous counterparts--King and Queen of Spire Rock, Pipestone MT.

Dimes or thin crack. Well, thinner than dimes and the pro is in the crack and so are a lot of the holds. So it goes here.

Couldn't find a digital pic of "5.11 Crack" at the Voo... It's "only 5.9+" and should be fairly easy, right? It's "old school 5.9+," and has had fatalaties (note the plural). Jaybro--if you have a picture, post it up since all mine are on old color slides at this point.

Here is a video TR from earlier this year of Serenity Crack. Such a great thin crack save for the history of it. The climbing on the first pitch is still classic none the less. Only time I've ever used a lobster jam.

We used a Nikon D3100 HDSLR and a Go Pro Hero. The Go Pro died before Sons Of Yesterday.

Photo tip!
If you've got a link that is actually a file, like
http://www.climbingwashington.com/archives/images/archive63.jpg

All you have to do is surround the file name with "img tags" which are this (img) photo.jpg (/img) BUT change the ( ) to [ ] (sorry can't post that directly, the software thinks it's a photo tag) it and the photo will post on the page.

Sweet pics everyone.

Hoh man! Got my first taste of the Pirate recently.

Thin crack? Yes. Thin slab? Oh my, Yes. The points you can actually get anything in...cuticles, are the easy bits. And once you get any actual locks, it's cruiser. But damn the bottom 30' are sustained micro, micro edging and a complex dance of hands beta with sidepulls, thumb sprags, pretend tips jams, thumb presses, palming, and credit card crimps with a few steeper parts where the feet disappear for a couple feet providing the cruxes.

Was able to do it off the dog on the first burns, but to be dialed enough to lead it will take some (a lot more) work.

Props to whoever was on it in the few days before me. Lots of feet ticked on the bottom half, but with tiny marks, all of which were invisible from below at the base but perfectly visible while climbing. A masterpiece of discreet ticking! Well done, whoever you are.
