John,

our cancer survival rates are exceedingly high when compared with those of other countries.

I think it is important not to "Cherry Pick" numbers. For example, breast cancer is one of the stars of American Cancer Cure.....we are second in the world.....behind Cuba.

In most other measures of healthcare, the US lags behind MOST other 1st world countries.

This is important, because if we simply expanded what we currently do, we might have no improvement in quality.

I know too many docs who are ready to quit seeing Medicare patients.

Actually, you may know too many docs who SAY they are ready to quite Medicare.

I've been through this before, several times, when a cohort of docs made such statements......nobody did, and they won't, because they cannot maintain their lifestyle without income.

Hows our "foreign relations" working out? N Korea just tested Nuclear weapons AGAINST the US and UN sanctions and prohibitions.

And what, exactly, is your solution.

Like Rand Paul, who advocates eliminating the State Dept? So we stop all diplomatic interaction whatsoever?

Poor ol Jesse Jackson,, just got convicted of squandering funds,, on things like,,, TWO SHOULDER MOUNT ELK....Dems,,, just gotta love em.

Or more likely, an alcoholic.

Why don't you start bagging on that group?

But unlike a Republican, he stood up and took his medicine, instead of spending the taxpayers dollars in prosecuting his defense.

oh, boo hoo

I may be wrong as I have not bothered to check but, is there are law that requires Doctors to see Medicare, or Medicaid patients?

I don't think so

Well then, the solution to those Doctors' "problem" is clear, don't treat them.

I mean, why would a Doctor accept less pay when he can get more money from private plans and people with no insurance but lots of money for the same "service"?

It's all about making the most money a doctor can, right?
That's why they chose to go into medicine in the first place!

Why is this even pointed out as some sort of concern anyway?

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20130222/DA4JVQV81.html

The Pentagon on Friday grounded its fleet of F-35 fighter jets after discovering a cracked engine blade in one plane.

This weapons system is SCHEDULED to cost (which means it will cost MUCH more) $400 BILLION dollars.

For an airplane that DOES NOT WORK. The only combatants killed by this plane is AMERICAN PiLOTS!

Why not just order new F-18's and F-16's? If needed at all.

In 5 years they will all become obsolete and replaced by DRONES that fly TWICE AS FAST, and cost 1/10 as much. We probably already have them.

One cracked blade on an engine.

The same procedure as if a defective engine component was identified in a civilian aircraft.

but then if you had your way there would still be an Army Air Corps equipped with these.

Yep, the major, massive Fiscal Cliff is $8o Billion.

This single plane, WHICH DOES NOT WORK, is $400 Billion.

As usual, Repubs are in favor of borrowing and spending, borrowing and spending, borrowing and spending.

But they are not willing to PAY for what they want. They would have to raise revenue---taxes....to pay for their pet projects..THAT DON'T WORK.
Instead, they will BORROW, although they scream about deficits.

THIS is the Repub dream....SPEND taxpayer money on things that DONT WORK, so they can borrow and spend BILLIONS more to try to make it work.

Pigs.

the nra opposes gun registry because of the potential for abuse by the government who could use the registry to target LEGAL gun owners

gun control hysterics claim the nra is paranoid

behold: http://www.leg.state.or.us/13reg/measpdf/hb3200.dir/hb3200.intro.pdf

that's right, the libs in oregon have actually written a bill that verifies the nra's concerns:

"(3) The department shall create and maintain a registry for owners of assault weapons and large capacity magazines who qualify for registration under section 4 of this 2013 Act. The department may adopt rules concerning the administration of the registry, including but not limited to renewal and revocation procedures and storage requirements for assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
(4) The department may conduct inspections of registered owners of assault weapons and large capacity magazines to ensure compliance with the storage requirements of section 4of this 2013 Act.
SECTION 6. This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its passage."

that last statement about "immediate preservation" is especially hysterical...i didn't realize life in oregon was so precarious, beyond the inevitable destruction by liberal lawmakers, of course

Being from Oregon, all I can say is the sooner the better. That and:

Universal federal background checks on all gun transfers

 Gun registration and insurance requirements

Annual and monthly gun purchase limits

Mandatory reporting on gun loss or theft

Grandfathered ownership, but no transfers or use of restricted weapons (I'd personally rather see both ownership and use restricted and a federal buyback program for those weapons)

Massive overhaul and crackdown on the Federal Firearms Licensee program with the revocation of just a shitload of said licenses

With an attending crackdown on gun show and sales

Bookie - such registry was enacted in canada and was recently tossed out due to cost and alleged ineffectiveness, although in reality it was our right wing anti science / factual evidence government pandering to its retarded base who hysterically couldn't handle the simple idea of registering their weapons just like they do with their car.

Thanks for sending your Falls Church mentality up across our border. We're rolling in it now like pigs in slop

I disagree.

It works quite well as a "stealth" aircraft.

Because many cannot see it:

A welfare program, disguised as "security."

Why are Republicans Wrong about Everything?

When you are Right 95% of the time, no one pays any attention to you.

It's the old saw that only notoriety beats fame.

This bears some thought. Whatever we think we are doing, ST may actually be giving Mr. Green's career a big bump.

That's the Republican doctors. There are quite a few democrats, too.

Ken,

My lifelong best friend (other than my wife), is a Republican radiologist
whose group has a very substantial pediatric radiology practice. Most, if
not all, of his partners are also Republicans. I don't know about LA, but
I suspect the pediatric radiology there would be similar to here --
substantial Medi-Cal recipients, so payment is meager compared with
non-Medi-Cal clientele. My friend (who, by the way, also gave me my first
belay) chose to practice here, with that group, knowing that his income
would be lower as a result.

While I interpreted your post as having your tongue firmly in your cheek,
some others need to know that not all Republicans have either personal
income or greed as their primary motivation. There are plenty of them
who accept lower remuneration because they find that particular work more
satisfying.

Nice try, John, but you happen to be wrong.

Your friend happened to go into the third highest paying specialty in medicine, only behind cardiac surgery and orthopedics, with an annual salary of between $445k and $330k (I assume he is a diagnostic radiologist).

Pediatric actually make more than adult, because virtually all children in America are covered by insurance. Not so with adults.

http://www.profilesdatabase.com/resources/2011-2012-physician-salary-survey

So your assumption is wrong, or your friend is baggin' ya.
