the puppets continue to fawn over their "dangerous" puppet master:
"President Barack Obama is a master at limiting, shaping and manipulating media coverage of himself and his White House.
Not for the reason that conservatives suspect: namely, that a liberal press willingly and eagerly allows itself to get manipulated. Instead, the mastery mostly flows from a White House that has taken old tricks for shaping coverage (staged leaks, friendly interviews) and put them on steroids using new ones (social media, content creation, precision targeting). And it’s an equal opportunity strategy: Media across the ideological spectrum are left scrambling for access.
The results are transformational. With more technology, and fewer resources at many media companies, the balance of power between the White House and press has tipped unmistakably toward the government. This is an arguably dangerous development, and one that the Obama White House — fluent in digital media and no fan of the mainstream press — has exploited cleverly and ruthlessly. And future presidents from both parties will undoubtedly copy and expand on this approach."
"Conservatives assume a cozy relationship between this White House and the reporters who cover it. Wrong. Many reporters find Obama himself strangely fearful of talking with them and often aloof and cocky when he does. They find his staff needlessly stingy with information and thin-skinned about any tough coverage. He gets more-favorable-than-not coverage because many staffers are fearful of talking to reporters, even anonymously, and some reporters inevitably worry access or the chance of a presidential interview will decrease if they get in the face of this White House."
note the complete disconnect between the first and last sentences in that third paragraph..."there's no 'cozy relationship'...we just accept his 'manipulation' because we want him to like us"
here's the full article, if you can stomach it:

Permanent GOP Minority Status Has Arrived
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/02/19/1188341/-Permanent-GOP-minority-status-has-arrived
Mitt Romney's strongest age demographic was seniors, his weakest was the youngest voters. The circle of life guarantees that Democrats will come out of that divide looking quite good. And of course, not entirely unrelated, is the rise of the Latino and Asian vote, as those young groups begin entering the voting age population in force.
Remember, every month, 67,000 Latinos turn 18, while 100,000 (predominantly white and conservative) seniors die. Do the math.
On top of that, there's the GOP's escalating civil war between the party's crazy wing and its even crazier wing, none of which are popular with the public. I don't need to go out on a limb to predict that by the time the dust settles on Election Night 2014, that civil war will have cost Republicans at least one, probably more Senate seats. And with Republicans already fretting about a possible Rand Paul independent presidential bid in 2014, don't expect a truce any time in the near future—not when one side is as ideologically rigid and uncompromising as the hardest Al Qaida elements.
And for a party suddenly cognizant of their "branding" problems, they couldn't even offer a unified response to the president's State of the Union address. Instead, their two antagonistic factions had to both have their say.
How can Republicans can heal their internal rift while remaking themselves as a palatable national party? They can't. Those two goals are mutually exclusive.

It's been a while since I had the pleasure of checking in on this thread. I can see that our resident hardcore right wingers are still bitter. Thanks for the updates guys and i'm glad to know that Obama is both a genius, mastermind manipulator and a misguided incompetent.

proof that progressives (i.e. modern liberals) are, in fact, socialists with fascist tendencies from one of barry's favorites:
"If a paternalistic intervention can prevent long-term harm—for example, by eliminating risks of premature death—it might well be justified even if people are keenly frustrated by it."
here's the whole thing (it's long and terrifying, in a mein kampf kind of way): http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2013/mar/07/its-your-own-good/
see, barry, et al., truly believe government knows best, and they just want to help you achieve real happiness because the freedom (or autonomy, in the article) to pursue your own happiness doesn't really provide happiness
that reference to "premature death" should be especially troubling to those whose inclination is to mock the person posting the link rather than the "experts" presenting their ideas...let me put in a way that you might appreciate:
first, they came for the smokers, but i said nothing because i don't smoke
then, they came for the soda drinkers, but i said nothing because i don't drink sodas
then, they came for the motorcyclists who don't wear helmets, but i said nothing because i don't ride a motorcycle
then, they came for the rock climbers...

What happened to all the great loopholes, deductions and spending cuts the Republicans had (but never disclosed what they were) back in 2012 that Romney (and the Republican Congress) said were going to balance the budget, create jobs and fix the economy!!
Obama has asked them "OK, let's see some of your proposals so we can work together, and all of sudden, they don't have ANYTHING to offer, except gutting Social Security and Medicare, the 2 things Not associated to our debt problem. They never had a plan, it was all talk and BS.
Thank God Romney lost, we averted our demise for another 4 years
It would have been Bush III, lies piled upon lies as they unravel the social fabric of our society, as they pillage the riches and send the rest of us into poverty.
And Now, the disgraceful antics of McLaim, Lindsy Graham and Randy Paul, filibustering Chuck Hagal for DOD, a Republican!!
They are treasonous... leaving the Country defenseless because they got a huge stick up their butts
Pull it out you idiots

The government (both wings) are at war with the American people.
They are trying to bring U.S./us down by labeling us all as terrorists. They are militarizing the police, surveilling us with drones, and implementing the recently signed NDAA bill.
All phone calls and internet sites visited, are data mined and recorded.
Soon enough we the people will police each other.

We do not have a free society.
We are completely controlled in a prison of our own making ......
“Based on talks with actual engineers that work at Ford and GM.
These two companies have actively discouraged any improvements in fuel efficiencies.
Engineers would be threatened if they were caught tinkering with the computer systems or searching for ways to make the car engines run more efficiently.” …
Nearly all progress has been “ignored or actively suppressed due to the power of fossil fuel based economic and industrial interests

should we all agree with the statement with a whole heart that progressives (i.e. modern liberals) are, in fact, socialists with fascist tendencies is undeniable? Yes we should because it is true
we are proud of taking this country over by making voters dependent for government handouts. Schools won our battle by teaching only the things to make all children superb non thinkers. unthinking students become unthinking voters and we win all elections and control the money and get very rich.
