There are people that stay in your heart even if you not have seen them in years..and once in a while there is a tug in your heart that makes you think what happened to so and so...Tom is one of those people in my life..we met when we were very young and I moved in and out of town and then never knew where he went or what he was doing..but when ever little things i saw like a pair of rock climbing shoes ( and they came in style) or a hackey sack..i would tell whoever i was with about my friend Tom who i hung out with when i was younger who was a great rock climber and played hackey sack...I am so happy that the energy of each other , thinking of each other has led us to being in contact after 30 years or so..in addition with another friend Scott...I needed to hear his voice, I needed to know how he is, I needed the smile in my heart..and I needed my friend back in my life..Im so happy to have found you my friend...yes, i wish that when i found you that you were not in the place you are at from this terrible accident that just sucks...im here for you anytime...and im so so happy you are here for me....whatever i can do ...im here for you buddy....and if anyone would like to support please contact the

Thank you for your responses...want to Bump Tom Gilje cause he is a great man whom I respect and love..Yes Im happy I found him but unfortunately he is now paralyzed and is in need of funds to help him get through daily life and for equipment to do things that will enhance his life...Peace Love Hugs and Tye-Dye.

I am not a climber but always wanted to do it and a friend of mine TOM was going to show me some day....wish he could have..but he's still my friend and I am blessed to have him...I love this site with all the bumps and well wishes and the community you all have ..if you all are on Facebook at all can you go to Tom's site TOM GILJE RECOVERY FUND..post a pic, tell a story or say hello...and support and repost on your facebook or email to get this out there...we are all on hard times but every little thing helps even for the soul...thanks

I just got back from my first cruise in the Southern Caribbean and my first stop form Puerto Rico was St Thomas which i went on a catamaran to Turtle and Christmas cove to snorkel for my first time...the crew on the boat were fantastic and the female Melissa looked like she could of been Tom's little sister..it was amazing In St. Thomas thinking about Tom...he would love it...i got him a bithchin shirt..I should have taken a pic of the girl..thought i would share...

It's been a while since my last post, but feel the need to participate in this shindig. I was invited to attend because I'm also a gimp in a wheelchair who once was a climber. It makes me sad to hear about Tom's injury, but happy to maybe make a new friend. My buddy Steve Belford gave me Tom's number a month ago and I finally got the courage to call Tom last week. I don't know him personally and wasn't sure how he would perceive some lame ass dude calling him out of the blue. The conversation started out nervous for me at first, but Tom said he was glad to talk to me and I was at ease after that. We are both in a club that nobody ever wants to join, in it because of some accident or something beyond our control. I miss climbing and I’m sure Tom does too! I’m looking forward to meeting Tom in person at Todd Gordon’s generous fundraiser/party. It will make us both feel like climbers once again.
