Modern day version of blindfolds on the way to Paradise Forks? It's been awhile, but I just can't see crowds being a problem at any Flag location, including the draw. Am I wrong??

I had only been living in the Grand Canyon for a few months when I made my first trip out to Paradise Forks. The first conversation I got into that day eventually went to this new area called the Peaks and how to get there.

No time to check MP but interesting. AZ climbers...might as well be cavers! Personally I love the Peaks and have been fortunate to have been there a few times. For that matter even got some additional beta by going into the climbing gym in Flag and walked out with a not-so-bad topo of the routes we did from one of the developers.
Out of respect we didn't post any topos or descriptions. Maybe a few photos here and there of a day out. As for secret climbing areas? It's not the first and most certainly won't be the last.

Some people can't help but be as#@&%es. Especially anonymous as#@&%es on the web. This rant and the one on mtnproj are the result of someone gettin their feelers hurt because they didn't get to spill the beans... O wait, they did!

Hey Manny, do you condone "illegal" crags? Power bolting a sport crag in a wilderness? Bolting cracks? Sounds like you are. Shame on you.
Looks like that is the big question about The Peaks.
If/when the full truth of the situation comes out we may find that a selfish few put a black eye on the climbing community. The route creaters could be prosecuted and the bolts removed.
The USFS knows and the inter squable will bring it down.
So what side are you on?
Undercover crags where anything goes?
Responsible land use?
Responsible land use, leave no trace, and stewardship are what is needed.

This deal where some climber gets upset and then applies the "nuclear solution" to involve land managers and get one of our few crags erased is, like Manny says, an a**hole move. What's next? Climbers don't like someone, so they start telling the USFS that they saw them at the Forks doing <insert something stupid here> and get us all banned? Then the Overlook? Then where do we go from there? This is so fuking Ken Nichols it's hard to believe. We'll all have to go somewhere else to climb when all the Arizona crags have been banned, mined, or turned into housing developments. Used to be a nice state to live in if you were a climber.

MTucker, I'll tell you in person what side I'm on. Otherwise you're a scared bully hiding behind a screen that isn't real enough to come forward and state your case.
I was at Zonerland when the whole shebang about power drills in wilderness caused the moratorium on bolting nationwide. It began when a few visitors brought their Bosch. Now, we are faced with a similar dilemna, except this time it isn't a disgruntled postal retiree that blew the whistle (he had his illegal camp near Zonerland and wanted to keep the area his...), it is a disgruntled anonymous as#@&%e we are supposed to believe actually climbs.
Whatever happens because of this, I hope you find peace under the rock you crawled out from under. I enjoy climbing at The Peaks and have not done any FAs out there. My last FA in wilderness was in the Superstitions while the bolting ban was in effect. Go do my route and then come back and tell us what you think. It is on Tee Pee rock on the west face of the Supes. Only a 5.9...

I thought this was a site where old guys talked about their colonoscopies, not climbing. Its a little ironic to see one jerk make a stink about whether or not bolts were put in using a power drill in this particular wilderness area while just a quarter mile away next to the road they are bulldozing the path for the new pipeline to bring reclaimed water up to the ski area for snow machines so we can have more PHX skiers.

Some of the numb nuts making the stink over there are trying to claim that bolts aren't allowed in wilderness areas at all. That sort of ignorant crap makes me think they've been climbing less than a year.

Why would the USFS give a sh#t about this crag?
Bolting is perfectly legal in wilderness areas absent some local regulation, just not with a power drill.

Just to make sure all the facts are correct I would like to state that right up to the bolting ban in Zonerland not a single bolt, that I know of, went in with a power drill. Never once did I see or hear one the whole time. Hooks and by hand. That's just how we rolled.

MTucker you posted a map you "found" about the Peaks the very next day after all the bs began at MtnProj. Where did you find the map? And why not post it on mp?
Your hijacking someone else's screen name is lame as lame can be. All your other screen names on mp.com posted on or about the same time on one subject: the peaks.
Prove me wrong.

MTucker/Loeber, you stupid f*#k. BASE1361 on Mountain Project is different than the actual BASE#1361/maui mark/ who sometimes posts here and on basejumper.com. We switched the imposters account, he is now BASE99999 on MP. Watch yourself, dick. Leave Maui Mark out of your super homo Arizona drama, he doesn't care.
