I was interested in the booking aspect too. When I looked at the chapel for a memorial service the online info stated that ceremonies there had to be Christian and the statements by the resident minister seemed pretty fundamentalist.

I was surprised that Doug was able to perform the service. A welcome trend I would say.

Jan,
I was ordained around a campfire in the 60s. Universal Life Church out of Modesto, pretty informal. One look at my card and the Chapel had no questions. The minister was super friendly, congratulated me after the service, which was customized to Skip and Eric and never mentioned any sort of deity or higher power. When we chatted after the service -- just between us reverends -- he mainly talked about how, thanks to his moving to the Valley, his daughter got her start in the hospitality industry through Delaware-North.

Pretty chill.

I don't have a lot of photos from the wedding, but there's no shortage. It was lots of fun. My contribution was the litter stick arch. IIRC, in military weddings they form an arch from swords. For mountaineers' weddings, it's made from ice axes. On the morning of Skip and Erik's wedding, I had the idea that we could make an arch from litter sticks, but didn't have enough time to get more than a few.

Not around the stand much lately, but this is one wonderful event to come across happenstance! Congratulation to an obviously very happy couple... A great place to formally initiate your journey together!

Eric and Skip it was a joy to be part of your celebration. I saw this post for the first time the other day. So today I downloaded the pictures I took. Here are a few. You guys are perfect for each other!

My new t-shirt has an edgy quality, no?

Maybe such things are better left mysterious...but I felt honored when the groom presented it to me with thanks. He designed and made it. One of a kind.

For years I avoided the threads. WOS controversy? Felt about as interesting as a political thread. I even skipped the wrangling over what is "mind" -- and I'm writing something related to it.

But then recently I began to get drawn in. I like slabs, and Ammon was falling his way up a beauty, and getting drunk with his honey in a portaledge. Friends I respected began taking WOS seriously.

Anyway, I like the ambiguous edginess of my new shirt. Thanks Eric and Skip! And I really enjoyed working with you guys on your celebration. A very cool couple!

I wear it with a cautious pride. So far so good. No one has decked me or defecated my shirt.

Skip your wife should hear about your internet abuse and stalking over many years. 50+ obsessive internet posts against #%@# and &#^$%%! @#*&*$&# and several others over years on about 10 different forums and blogs. Profane, hatred, threats, allegations.
Doug should also know. Will send to both.

Well.... Since a total stranger is ranting and making stupid accusations... Thanks for the heads up. I never imagined E was such an insidious bastard. I'll certainly file for a divorce the very moment the sun rises over the courthouse on the 'morrow. Doug,... are you with me?

Hahahahahahahh ;) Thanks for a good laugh "guests".

But I digress...

Thanks to everyone who posted new photos. !!!

Erik thought I'd gotten the angle of the slab wrong on that WOS T-shirt, but now that my copy of R&I showed up I think it's spot on.

John & Jan: The chapel was easy to book. Just a phone call and filled out some paperwork then sent a check. It's actually non- denominational and they have a separate preist if you need a Catholic ceremony. We had planned on Sentinel beach originally and changed our minds at the last minute. Both the chapel and the YPS were extremely accommodating (had to change the wedding permit to the new location.)

PS: Yes: that picture is of Erik and his mother Dorothy who drove all the way from Washington. Side note: her and her partner of 20 years got (legally) married a few weeks later.
