I知 down for sport, bouldering, trad, short hikes, ect. I知 down for anything from 5.0-5.10. No set route so far so I知 up for anything that isn稚 too far out of the way. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I hear blodgett is not to be missed. Also I hiked into the Wedge by Dillon and that looks very cool. Look up T-Kingsbury for the Butte area tour.

Blodgett is a must do!!!!!! Shoshone spire 5.8 great introduction to the a area.

The Wedge is about 5 miles in, but also way rad!!!! Trade route Mutt and Jeff 5.8

Home stake pass 1.5 hours east has good JT style cragging and apparently a BUNCH of new bouldering. Google search

Kootenai canyon, small but great sport and trad routes.

If you have the time Stone hill is 4 hours NW, but way worth the drive. Mostly mixed routes in the 5.8 to 5.11 level. Quartzite.

This makes me miss my old stomping grounds.......

Not sure what your time frame is but,

I would suggest getting the guide book for the City of Rocks and climbing there. Continue north through Stanley, ID, home of the Sawtooth Mtn range. STUNNING scenery/ hiking/ climbing. Visit Redfish Lake for a day of relaxation, swimming, hiking, and even climbing (if you know where to go). The Stanley/ Redfish area also has tons of camping.

Your other option would be to go from the City of Rocks through the Pocatello - Idaho Falls area which is going to get you to (or from) Missoula quicker, and has a few more easily accessible climbing areas, but the views will be SIGNIFICANTLY less aesthetic.

The hardest part about climbing in Idaho, is knowing where to go. Guidebooks and information are few and far between for many areas. There is a TON of climbing that is under the radar. I highly recommend getting the City of Rocks guidebook. Briefly covered within the guidebook are other Idaho climbing areas.

Lots of good info on the ClimbIdaho website as well.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't pass up the City of Rocks. Well worth it, and tons of climbing (Bouldering, Sport, & Trad) within your grade range.

Have fun!

Humbug Spires aren't too far away. Looks amazing with nary a soul.

Butte bouldering at Homestake is super easy to get to and great bouldering.

Which way are you going to get up to Montana? From Socal it sounds like you'd be taking 40 to 15 all the way up into Montana. You can always hit up Red Rocks as you pass through Nevada. St George, UT which is on the Arizona border has a bad ass state park right in the middle of the city called Snow Canyon State Park. There's a lot of 2 or 3 pitch trad climbs...enough to last you a couple seasons. If you drive another 17 miles north you come to the town of Hurricane which is about 30 minutes from Zion National Park. Go another 20 miles or so and you come to Cedar City which boasts a beautiful alpine-ish canyon on UT 14 (which starts out as Center St in town) about 12-13 miles east of the town. City of Rocks isn't too far off of 15 once you're in Idaho. If you want to make the drive really special, ditch 15 for US 20 when you get to Idaho Falls then take US 93 all the way into Missoula. Talk about a beautiful drive! I miss living out that way (D.C. sucks!) I miss that area!
